This year The Air Ambulance was the nominated charity for the Stoneleigh show. As some of you will have read in @Julie Hall - AO Representative, Peak District AO winter 2016 WW report we sadly lost member Ian Welch aka 'Molestrangler' in 2016. We asked Ian's wife Pat to nominate a Charity of choice and she chose The Air Ambulance. So we collected donations at Stoneleigh by selling tea, coffee, biscuits and crisps. We were also very generously given 8 charity drift rides by @Westfield Parts Dept @Julian Turner - Westfield Sportscars Ltd @Simon Westwood - Westfield Sportscars Ltd Westfield Sports cars Ltd which were raffled off over the weekend. We have managed to raise a total of £542.49p A very big Thank You to all who donated we were never expecting to raise this amount so all the fun of the weekend at Stoneleigh 2017 has also helped a very worthy cause.3 points

I have let Pat know how much was raised and she was pleased that we had remembered her and Ian. This well organised club is also a thoughtful club, very nice.3 points

I picked up a Type 9 gearbox delivery by Chris King, a pair of cycle wing brackets from Tommy Turtle and ordered a WOSP starter for the A(wesome) Series, got lots of Eleven ideas from Sunbeam Lotus and had a discussion with Coolex on an Eleven radiator based on a Polo core and Protech about extensions for the Eleven. Also met up with Troy and Steve from NMS and had a chat about the Saints poor performance and compared notes on both Sevens and Elevens. I was very impressed by Mike, Dave,et als work on the Chairman's car, hopefully retirement will give, the now Colonial Member, some time for a little TLC for the old girl (and perhaps some longer studs on the front). Most of all it was an opportunity to spend some time with the Dorset Boys and reflect on the good times we've had over the years, make some plans for more good times in the future and reflect on the benefits of being part of the Westfield community.2 points

Yeah, the company in the link Jon gave above is highly regarded for transmission work, (SP Components). High tensile bolts with a good drop of threadlock on there should last well.2 points

I've had a call from David Taylor from Longton. David has confirmed the circuit is closed until such times as the liquidators establish who is liable for what. All staff have been paid off. Longton will continue to take entries for all of their remaining events including the one later this month. David confirms that in the event the sprint cannot go ahead, LDMC Will refund your entry fee. It's ultimately up to you if you decide to enter, and possibly don't get to compete. LDMC are doing their up most to honour their events in a situation which is ultimately beyond their control.1 point

This is also a record amount for us and a massive increase on last year. Fantastic job done by all, we should be rightly proud. Can we top it next year...?1 point

Sorry I'll miss this, have to work on sunday morning. I'll try and meet up sometime this year, but time is tight - I seem to have got involved in a wedding type senario! People wonder how I can afford to spend money on a toy car - it's cause I've never been married! Any dreams of a cobra or GT40 are postponed indefinitely1 point

And, you can always have two, I'm sure second one would be easier especially as no need for IVA1 point

Welcome from Cheddar, not too far away from you. I'm rebuilding my '97 SEi at the moment. Cotswold are holding a track day near Cardiff at the end of Summer, which I have in my sights. Steve.1 point

They don't come around very often Snowy, Originally made by 'Mickmade' on here in Carbon but I do not know for sure if he still makes them, although I did see a differently shaped one at Stoneleigh and am yet to find any more info on it.1 point

Hey up, what do you reckon to this, we got home after our holiday today and Glen has found his glove. He had been saying 'I bet it is on the shelf above the pedal box' and it was. It had single handedly made it's way up there, groan. But, no seriously, it is found, that's about £60 saved. It was my fault, of course, I had moved it apparently when I moved the car to the side of the tent1 point

Hi Dave I'm not 100% sure on that mate as I brought a load of brand new extras from a guy I recently brought a Westfield from. They were brought for a Westfield sport 2000 I think? Is there someway I can measure them to tell? Cheers Mitch.1 point

Unless you are a seasoned PR person, it is hard to be able to react to someone else's questions unless you have been primed. I think Steve Hole, who is 100% for the kit scenes was overall trying to get past the "built in a shed" tag. Most people will know of Caterham, but how many of those listening would know Westfield, or GBS as a "7" type car. What he will have done is infuriate the Caterham owners who try desperately to distance themselves from Kit cars. As for his figures, MEV have sold over 1000 Exocets so far so possibly a bit over the top but at least he was portraying a healthy market and dynamic companies who are involved. He was also good at selling the high end cars, I think the Ultima Evolution with every bell whistle will be £120k and will annihilate many other performance cars which seemed to shock Chris Evans. Also good to mention that TVR, Lotus and Ginetta were kit car companies before they moved on and up. Also got in that we are all normal people who are involved in Kit Cars so although he didn't mention Westfield, which I am sure Simon will pick him up on, it was a great effort.1 point
