This year The Air Ambulance was the nominated charity for the Stoneleigh show. As some of you will have read in @Julie Hall - AO Representative, Peak District AO winter 2016 WW report we sadly lost member Ian Welch aka 'Molestrangler' in 2016. We asked Ian's wife Pat to nominate a Charity of choice and she chose The Air Ambulance. So we collected donations at Stoneleigh by selling tea, coffee, biscuits and crisps. We were also very generously given 8 charity drift rides by @Westfield Parts Dept @Julian Turner - Westfield Sportscars Ltd @Simon Westwood - Westfield Sportscars Ltd Westfield Sports cars Ltd which were raffled off over the weekend. We have managed to raise a total of £542.49p A very big Thank You to all who donated we were never expecting to raise this amount so all the fun of the weekend at Stoneleigh 2017 has also helped a very worthy cause.5 points

Hey up, what do you reckon to this, we got home after our holiday today and Glen has found his glove. He had been saying 'I bet it is on the shelf above the pedal box' and it was. It had single handedly made it's way up there, groan. But, no seriously, it is found, that's about £60 saved. It was my fault, of course, I had moved it apparently when I moved the car to the side of the tent1 point

from Somerset. Enjoy your experience. I'm in the process of building my car. The club is really friendly, and the help given via this forum is invaluable I'm finding. A build thread with photos always goes down well. Experienced members often proffer advice on things you may not have even thought about!1 point

I will check with the wife.. Its close... There are westfields, I need to check my Noise levels. but I'd like to do it to... BUT I've either overdone the length of highlight on my wall chart and i'm free.... or I'm looking after the kids that day because there is teacher training or something following on from half turm the week before.1 point

Don't know if that's sarcastic or not (forgive me, I'm in Germany, all sense of humour lost) but yes, I love Bedford and will be glad to come and join you in the westy. You're welcome to have a drive too if you like.1 point

As @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary said, I can't imagine anyone turning up to a Club meet (with cars there) being turned down for a passenger ride. Personally, I would always try and encourage any potential member/owner by taking them for a spin - and am sure many (if not all) of my fellow members would do likewise - and am always happy to give them the lowdown on what's what (based on my own personal journey) So the same idea at the show might work... but how insurance would be covered is another matter...1 point

First time to the show in 31 years. I personally think that the club put everything else to shame - the size, the professionalism and the friendliness. Too few staff on too many of the manufacturers stands and those that were there often appeared disinterested or completely lacking in knowledge. I met up with a couple of friends, one of whom was seriously interested in an Ultima, he went on to the stand and was immediately palmed off to a teenage "pretty " girl in a short skirt who clearly had no knowledge or interest in anything - a potential customer turned completely off the idea of an Ultima, fortunately his interest was rekindled by the owners club. Would be good to see some internal "live displays" - a build, an upgrade, technical talks for the non-technically minded I thoroughly enjoyed the day but definitely left with the feeling that if everyone had put as much effort in as the club did then it would have been a whole lot better1 point

First time at Stoneleigh and took my Westfield along. My Wife and 3 year old went in her car separately and we met at the WSCC tent. I was very impressed with the Westfield turn out and the facilities WSCC had to offer. I made use of the valuables cloakroom and found that I was being expected with a nice little name badge for me. Didn't get chance to meet people due to keeping the 3 year old entertained, but I loved all the stalls and cars for some fresh ideas and it was nice to see lots of spares and tools on offer. Overall as a family day out it exceeded our expectations and we will be visiting again next year.1 point

Yes I'm sad enough to want to know what happened to the rat (s) too! We're they catapulted next door? Did they run away to start afresh? Were they unceremoniously slaughtered? Did the tortoise get em? And where did the original thread go @Thrustyjust1 point

Er, let me think.... NO! To be fair, even the old standard quick Ford, Webber 32/36 carb didn't fit either! They used to make a little accessory bonnet scoop/bulge if you wanted to fit a regular downdraft carb, rather than twin Webber DCOE's1 point

Learned something again... Didn't know there were nose variations (as well as 'rear ends') So for a Lowline, I'm guessing a 4 barrel Holley carburetor and filters won't fit without the use of a jigsaw...1 point

One of my favorite Westfield photos ever. It would be a great shot of a car, on its own, but the setting and the occupants transform it into a perfect frozen moment of what owning the cars should be about1 point

Just to say a huge thank you to Scott (ex Chairman and now Capt Colonial) for all the work over many years getting the WSCC back on course when he took over Membership Sec all that time ago, then onto becoming Chairman steering the WSCC course for the betterment of all - Thank You, happy retirement and of course to the new Chairman Andy - Good Luck1 point

Unless you are a seasoned PR person, it is hard to be able to react to someone else's questions unless you have been primed. I think Steve Hole, who is 100% for the kit scenes was overall trying to get past the "built in a shed" tag. Most people will know of Caterham, but how many of those listening would know Westfield, or GBS as a "7" type car. What he will have done is infuriate the Caterham owners who try desperately to distance themselves from Kit cars. As for his figures, MEV have sold over 1000 Exocets so far so possibly a bit over the top but at least he was portraying a healthy market and dynamic companies who are involved. He was also good at selling the high end cars, I think the Ultima Evolution with every bell whistle will be £120k and will annihilate many other performance cars which seemed to shock Chris Evans. Also good to mention that TVR, Lotus and Ginetta were kit car companies before they moved on and up. Also got in that we are all normal people who are involved in Kit Cars so although he didn't mention Westfield, which I am sure Simon will pick him up on, it was a great effort.1 point
