Weekend of cleaning in prep for next weekend. Saturday saw the removal of the seats to deep clean the cockpit and touch in some marks, no carpets to worry about but despite only being four bolts per set my arms are now ripped and bruised to hell, space is tight. All wheels removed, arches cleaned, wheels waxed and suspension cleaned up Second set of new mirrors fitted, tiny but convex lenses give great field of view. Swapped out the original and grubby 5 3/4" headlights for a shiny new pair of 7" units with LED DRLs - pretty essential in something as small as this

So 7 months ago i started my winter upgrades. The upgrades started as planning as an engine and gearbox change from silvertop zetec and mt75 gearbox. Changing to what i planned to be a standard ST150 engine and type 9 gearbox. This (along with some carbon added) was meant to be the only change but as so often happens i got a little carried away with my self which caused a full strip and re build and as such the budget that id set to blown miles out of the water. Brand new Body work painted in kawasaki green. Re bushed all wishbones and a ton more carbon soon followed. The engine i purchased was an ST150 that had the internals re worked and fully re built, and an SPC type 9 box. Which againblew the budget even further. The engine is now running on jenvey throttle bodies and has a custom exhaust from AAS in newcastle. Car was meant to have the MOT 2 weeks ago but and oil leak from the gearbox put an end to that hope. Anyway shes passed today with flying colours. Time to put a few miles on the engine before it goes to JDM dyno on the 12th for a mapping session before i can fully enjoy it again.

Here's an idea, many of us pass on a variety of IVA bits for free/cost of postage via the for sale section etc. How about a pinned thread at the top of the for sale section where anyone with bits to give away can add a simple post off what they have etc. This would not be an "official register" of parts, just a way of keeping these items more or less together in one spot.

Well we got back OK - Great day was that, top recommendation and deffo going again. Was 5c when I left at 7am, coldest I think I've driven the car in - and it looks like the cold was the reason for a impromptu water leak - first ever water leak! And as if by magic dry as a bone now the weather has warmed up. Came back on the M40 .. got bored and dropped off at Gaydon and came back the fun route Thanks again all !

I have managed to get a club stand for this years show, anyone interested please let me know. It is £3 per car and payable in advance. Entries must be in before 24th June. By getting a club stand, cars under the 25 year age limit are allowed in, last year some were turned away, which was a shame as it's a good evening show. The show starts at 4pm and continues until dusk. I have a small gazebo we can use and if anyone wants to bring chairs, tables etc then bring them along. This was me last year. I think the new speeding fines will make a lot of difference. If your a scumbag, deal drugs and drive an old BMW like you stole it, as you have no taxable income or your name is Gary Barlow you'll be given food bank vouchers for doing 40 in a 30... if your a good tax payer and doing the same you'll get life and 11 points on your licence. Something like that anyway!

Get separate breakdown cover from Auto Aid. Covers any car with you or your wife in it for £43 a year. I use it and for insurance LV were best value for my X3

I also fell foul to a slight mishap my fuel pump has finally given up. As me and rhett we having a spirited drive it died. Quick smash with a mallet. Got me going again been back out to it in the garage earlier and it's dead so new pump needs fitting before Stoneleigh

I chickened out! After I filled the tank up to the brim I was peeved to discover that my gauge barely moved. If it was indeed a reverse sender, I would have expected it to go to empty (when full). So I had a little brain storm and bought one of these usb inspection cameras for £10.99 as I was thinking, what if my float does not move freely and is stuck against the baffle. Plugged it in on the laptop and had a look around, but due to the extremely short focal area could not really see what was going on. So out came the pump today and then I started to think, why not disconnect the fuel sender and replace it with my old (matching) sender? Took forever to mount the thing on the pump, but I now have a working fuel sender again

Without going to deep the Speed Series Organising Team talked extensively about the possibility at our November Meeting.... here is the 3 hour meeting summed We understood the draw of Javelin and its affects on the 2017 season and into the future. The MSA requires us to be exclusively affiliated, so legally we can't do both. Personally i want to get more value for money for entrants.... Hindsight is amazing... but I realise that Blyton last year could have been done better and really this is why @terry everall started this thread as we are starting to plan for 2018 and work out how we can change within the current framework; and also focus on the full picture including ALL options for the future. I also had the problem that my life insurance policy covers me for Motorsport and they have accepted MSA rules for the policy; i would have to check that i'm covered for another organiser, so i'm reluctant to do any non MSA events as my family is more important than a day on the track. I'm meeting the other comp secs in a fortnight and will be raising the concerns with them. If people want to have a chat i will be at stoneleigh. cheers John Panda Williams

I have my mother on quote me happy. Reasonable cost and couldnt get it cheaper and she had breakdown and homestart style cover as well .

Geoff, I've gone with Saga for 2nd year in a row. I don't normally do that but their premium was exactly the same as last year for my 5 series. We have seperate breakdown cover though, which covers me and Helen (individually) in any car, nationally plus recovery.

I 'may' bump into you on the A429, as joining it somewhere near Lechlade and following up that way to Stoneleigh. Not set a time thing, but was looking at leaving at 8am ish from Thatcham.

It can't do any harm, can it. I'm worried that MSA events usually allow for 600bhp single seaters so everything has to be up F1 standards, whereas a trackday with timing for road legal cars is a bit different. I'm sure there have been a few accidents on trackdays, but nothing fatal, that you have to live in fear of. The MSA may even like "downgrading" these event, as they have plenty of other things to worry about.

Great idea Dave, if people would make the effort. In the spirit of the club I find and see the fantastic help that members freely pass to one another, even to the degree members actually visit each other. Club nights are good for direct help and information, my only regret is I don't get to club meets. Look forward to putting more faces to names at Stoneleigh & Silverstone

I was the same dave. With it being an unusual colour for a Westfield i was dubious with the colour. However i think that with the black and carbon thats on the car the green isnt so much in your face that it looks wierd

Some cars shouldnt have airbags. This is a case that the scumbags that drive like that ought to have an airbag switch off device fitted. It may stop them from re-offending as thats what they will be doing again and again. I would say he was probably doing 50 mph. My mum lives in a residential street with cars both sides and has 20 mph signs at either end. Cars and vans scream down there setting off car alarms , because they rock the cars as they speed through. And the idiots obviously dont care.........sign of the times unfortunately.

Update and Fuel smell fixed I treated the westfield to a coolant flush and new antifreeze etc, that has helped with the the running temperatures and reduced by 10 degrees. Regarding the fuel smell issue it turned out to be the pipe work that the previous owner had fitted. When the pipes have been removed they absolutely stink of petrol and since swapping them out my garage air is a lot cleaner. Spoke to http://www.autosiliconehoses.com and they have confirmed that the hoses are not designed for continuous fuel use.
