So 7 months ago i started my winter upgrades. The upgrades started as planning as an engine and gearbox change from silvertop zetec and mt75 gearbox. Changing to what i planned to be a standard ST150 engine and type 9 gearbox. This (along with some carbon added) was meant to be the only change but as so often happens i got a little carried away with my self which caused a full strip and re build and as such the budget that id set to blown miles out of the water. Brand new Body work painted in kawasaki green. Re bushed all wishbones and a ton more carbon soon followed. The engine i purchased was an ST150 that had the internals re worked and fully re built, and an SPC type 9 box. Which againblew the budget even further. The engine is now running on jenvey throttle bodies and has a custom exhaust from AAS in newcastle. Car was meant to have the MOT 2 weeks ago but and oil leak from the gearbox put an end to that hope. Anyway shes passed today with flying colours. Time to put a few miles on the engine before it goes to JDM dyno on the 12th for a mapping session before i can fully enjoy it again.9 points

Here's an idea, many of us pass on a variety of IVA bits for free/cost of postage via the for sale section etc. How about a pinned thread at the top of the for sale section where anyone with bits to give away can add a simple post off what they have etc. This would not be an "official register" of parts, just a way of keeping these items more or less together in one spot.3 points

It's going to be one of those weekends is it? If I could swear just once on this forum, today would be the day, oh my, what an amazing day. I have been Vteched. It was flipping, blooming, very amazing, but more of that later. We met at The Wheatsheaf, and I was busy taking my photograph for the Westfield Factory Photo Competition, when Ian and Craig arrived. We set off on a lovely route right across the Peak District from it's East coast to it's West coast, so to speak. The sun was shining, the views were great and the roads were clean, dry and begging to be driven, so we obliged. We arrived at The Rudyard Hotel for our lunch. After lunch Ian offered to take me out in his car, just to see what power is in the Honda engine compared to a Zetec. I said 'yes' before he had finished his sentence, so off we went, round the block. R888's. a Honda and a man that can drive it, what's not to like?. When I first sat in it, and it was ticking over, I could feel the power, it's nothing like the Zetec. When it got going, well, I can't say on here, it's too expletive. I am left here now in a heady mixture of endorphins and adrenaline, and I am supposed to be having an early night tonight. Playing out with the Honda boys is always exciting, but today was the best. Did I say 'thank you' enough times, probably not. Thank you Ian. I wanted a warm up for tomorrow, objective achieved. Next stop - Stoneleigh, see you all there.3 points

Maybe I'm expecting too much, but as it is it is the fit on my car makes it unpleasant., I'd read all the reports about how good they are and how well it worked, and yet mine isn't, it moves up and down about 6 inches, all I was trying to do was ascertain if other people were having the same problem as I haven't been in other cars fitted with a half hood, the best place to ask was here, as it turns out it looks like it is the car build rather than the hood, people have devised methods to make it better (fit, form and function), which is what my question was about, so they have helped me. If people think I'm asking daft questions, expecting too much, then fine, but don't waste your time replying!2 points

I have 2 (maybe three) 4Ltr fuel cans that fit perfectly into a FW boot. Stamped underneath as being made from PE-HD same material as common shop bought petrol cans. Measure 285x240x110. Could bring to Stoneleigh £5 each. https://www.flickr.com/photos/149588553@N04/shares/FT85621 point

Yeah its rented. Something me and my dad have done through the company for storage (mainly of cars). With him having a rover p6, jensen healey and now a tvr, and me with the Westfield the old one (about 579 sq ft) just wasnt big enough so we got a bigger one i believe to be about 943 sq ft ish. Its about 10 minutes from mine which on days where working the cars not gone how i want, it has been nice to lock it up and drive away from it. It will be interesting to see what its like down there compared to last year.1 point

Carbon NV post on here as a WSCC trader. Heard nothing but praise for their products. Other carbon suppliers are available. @carbon-nv will get their attention. Have a chat to discuss your needs.1 point

Just so you all know, I may be retiring in a week, but I'm staying on as an Adminstrator for a month or two and can still "improve" member profiles...1 point

Thanks I know wish I could keep it- I've just come back from a blast and it was fantastic- think I'll miss the noise most!1 point

Glad its all running now Luigi. Shame you cant keep it. I bought my second Westie when my son was 2 months old. I think the wife was glad I was out the house. It does look a lovely car and will make someone smile who buys it.1 point

I'm glad I'm in the good graces1 point

Oh Scott won't be able to inflict a life time ban on you at that point. Its far worse than that. Scott won't have to be "good" any more from the AGM onwards, and that's a far scarier prospect Be afraid, be very afraid...1 point

There's been quite a few going round over the years, and we need to encourage as many as members feel comfortable with, really. I was at least the second person to have the loan of one, myself. It got passed on at Stoneleigh 2015, though sadly I see the chap that bought it let his membership lapse this year, and it's not obvious from his posts whether he ever completed the car; certainly the wheel was never moved on again via the Boardroom. So things do disappear over time, unfortunately, but I'm still a firm believer in Club Karma, and passing things like this on, where possible.1 point

Before I had mine I borrowed some doors and used them to get the screen angle correct. I'd set the screen based upon what was in the build guide, when I tried the doors I realised it needed to be adjusted to allow the doors to fit correctly. For the Westfield half hood, with RAC bar they then used my car to template the half hood. i first used my half hood to travel down to stoneleigh and on the motorway it vibrated hitting the top of my head to the point I started to get double vision, I ended up loosening by belts enough to slide down in the seat to get some relief. I then set out to make some support bars, these turned half hood use from pain to pleasure. After borrowing some doors and using them in conjunction with the half hood for a long motorway journey, together they transform the use of the car on long motorway type journeys. try and borrow some doors to get the screen angle correct and then make some supports, you'll then get the benefit.1 point

Thanks Ali for confirming the details. Just a reminder that it is a hotel and guests may still be sleeping so can we all arrive and leave as quietly as a Westfield will allow1 point

I am keen to buy and happy to take off your hands at Stoneleigh.1 point

Assume this is before WSCC trackday? As above. Eastern doesn't flow as well as outer imo, more tech through centre. If there's tuition take it up as early as possible in day and you'll progress quickly. From what I've seen your not a slouch on road so sure you'll be fine.1 point

Great stuff, thanks. I have set a route of about a hour over some lovely roads, that will land us at The Hotel Rudyard, Leek to finish off, you are halfway home then. Looking forward to it.1 point

The Tintop list: who is arriving in what cars and need free entry (also here) Camping and vehicle details SORTED BY NAME (V16 25-4-17).pdf Thanks to everyone for volunteering, We had so many volunteers I don't think everyone made it onto to volunteer rota this year. My son and I are planning on coming up on Sunday. First time for us at any show, not having had a kit car before, and having only just joined the WSCC. We will be coming up in the LS2 Roadrunner, so if anyone fancies getting ideas about how to shoehorn a stupid engine into a Westfield, or similar, happy to help. Looking forward to it, martin1 point

Wow - took one look at the pics of silicone hose and though you were lucky they didn't give you more than just a smell of fuel. Can't believe someone used them for actual fuel feed hose (despite the fact that some silicone hose is sold as ok for fuel) - you live and learn!1 point

unless you built it yourself with 20/20 hindesight or the builder had more experience you'll find a few interesting issues. Also since the donor parts will curtainly pre date the car there will be some rubber parts past it's best. And the technology even when new was questionable. After just over a year I think I'm close to sorting out shake down issues. It's the odd nut you find In foot wells which get me. Never sure if the have fell out the tool bag or off the car. The knurled nuts holding the clocks in keep arriving in the foot wells.1 point

All 400 tool rolls now finished, ready for Stoneleigh: Now to find a place in the house to store them - they fill my estate car completely! The company that did the screen printing obviously want more business off the club and without my asking, made a few sample foam coasters - clever sods. It's good to be chairman sometimes! Apparently they've also done a couple of sample mugs, looking forward to seeing them - show bribe for next year's Stoneleigh, maybe?1 point
