I've a couple of iva parts that I have from my build. Most were donated to me on the premise that they are passed on. Westfield iva steering wheel. Not new and not mint but will get you through iva. 2 of the bolts will need re-glueing that secure the centre pad. This was donated to me and I've added the boss to fit to the Westfield allegro column. You can just see it in the pic below. Will come complete with the boss and securing bolt. Fw rear number plate tea tray. As above. Has been about the country a bit now. Just Velcro onto the rear and magically it falls off after IVA. I also have some spare nut covers that I will chuck in. This is all for free as long as you agree to pass on for free when your finished and not sell for profit. Just cover the postage at say £8 for the lot. Cheers Steve.2 points

It is the Comp Secs/Organising Teams of each club who need to get their ducks in a row when writing their regs. I do not know why some clubs only allow 2 timed runs and others like the WSCC have no limitation except time. We as the SSOT need to learn from these instances and ensure that the clubs we are invited to and add to our calendar will allow and run as many timed runs as "time" allows (even though their club competition may only allow a specified number to count on the day)! In the main each club needs each other to ensure each event is well attended and is not a financial disaster! The solution is jointly in the hands of each club to ensure continued enjoyment and ultimate survival. Glutey2 points

This doesn't sound good. Are we beginning to see a theme here, Hope not. Its not some new directive from the MSA is it? Its always been a minimum requirement to have 2 timed runs but have they now stipulated something else to the organising clubs that we are not aware of. Hopefully just bad luck or bad organising on the day and things will get better as the season progresses. I totally agree that value for money needs to taken in to account. These events are going to lose support if they carry on like this. Ian2 points

It's 100% the right decision mate - you have to get it properly mapped as there can be no "base" map for a modified engine.2 points

Hopefully the msa read this, as well as organising clubs. Everyone needs to improve the value for money at these events as the Javlin meetings hold significantly more appeal to me at the current time, and i have been competing on and off for over 20 years. 4 laps of croft or 7+ laps at Javlin events, and some better venues imho, Snetterton 300, Cadwell Park....2 points

My old business partner came by a Westfield in very similar circumstances, years ago. A crossflow car, stored outside for years. Worse still, it had initially been stored without antifreeze and had a cracked head! Fortunately it came with a spare head, already to go on. The brakes were frozen solid at the front and rusted to the discs, but fortunately it had been left with the handbrake off. We had to unbolt the front calipers on site and knock them off the discs with a hammer, before we could even roll the car about. Apart from the head swap and normal service items on the engine, oil, filter, points, plugs, leads, rotor arm etc, a K&N service kit, it just needed the front brakes replacing (calipers, disc and hoses), plus new pads and shoes all round - when we changed the fluid the old stuff was pitch black! And if I recall, we put a Polo rad on rather than clean the goop out of the old radiator. Other than that it was mainly just cleaning it up and it ran fine. It did end up having fresh carpets made, and I got hold of some new seats via the Boardroom, but that was just cosmetic stuff. There was very little rust on the chassis etc, just the front brakes! It made a cracking little car, until he lost interest a few years later. And don't need much spending on it at all.1 point

Have to agree, I think the main down side of the (MSA) events is the minimal amount of track time you get. Number of Laps It should be possible to fit in 2 practice, proper practice not 1 standing start and twice round the track, and 3 timed runs as an absolute minimum. Then once the official runs are completed they should allow people to keep queuing up for as many timed fun runs as they can fit in before they have to close the track. We have to hang around for an hour or so waiting for the results to be confirmed anyway so why not allow people to play while the paper work is being done. I also think there is often far to much time wasted with the gaps for setting people off, so time could be made up here for additional runs. Also I've noticed the start time of the 1st car to get out on track seem to be getting later and later, I believe the javelin sprints have a much simpler scrutineering process, maybe this is an area that could be sped up and allow earlier starts and more time on the track. Lap Length Some tracks (maybe not part of our championship) like Silverstone Stowe are very short, these should be run as 1.5/2 lap events not 0.75 lap events as lap length also has a bearing on value for money. Prizes Its great having TSL at some of the events who provide some great extra timing features like 0-64ft and Finish Line MPH. Maybe this information could be made use of and some recognition of "best launch" or "Heaviest Right Foot" awards? Photos A lot of amateur football clubs pay a photographer a set fee for the game, then all the players get "free" copies of the photos included as part of their subs. Maybe the same could be done at sprints, we wouldn't need them for the whole day as most people would be happy getting a couple of shots from just the timed runs since that's when they are really trying. The pictures should be included as part of the entry fee instead of having to pay another £15 on top. Thats my lot1 point

As promised, here's my 360 degree video from Goodwood Sprint at the weekend, enjoy ***Jump to 1:55 as I've not worked out how to edit these 360 videos and still keep the meta data YouTube needs in order to recognise it as a 360 video***1 point

It'll be fine. Crossflows always soak the underside of the car to prevent rust. Its a built in thing with those engines as we know Yes, it could be a basket case, but not all is lost. For me, I will use eyes and not heart , if thats what the OP wants to do.1 point

Well I was stood next to the tester when he weighed my car, so I think I subtract my weight too, just to be on the safe side!1 point

Interesting reply via EBay Hi Ian I got my wife to have a look at the IVA for... New message from: wozzap (217) Hi Ian I got my wife to have a look at the IVA form. The mass in running order with driver is 705kg. I think the tester weighed the car with him in it and he was a big guy, I would say 100kg. I'm not sure if he used the weight he measured or adjusted it to the standard 75kg driver. What confused me was I thought he said it was 550kg and I subtracted the 20kg of fuel to match the Caterham dry weight. Hope that helps Mitch Reply YOU: Hi No worries. Fri will be fine. Cheers, Ian wozzap: Hi Ian Thanks for the message. I'm working away from home at the moment and I don't have the folder with me, but I can have a look on Friday. I have the receipts for all that I bought including the engine and box. Hope that helps Mitch YOU: Car looks to be very nicely built. Could you show my the weight part of your IVA test form as I'm surprised you've got it as low a 530kg. Others I've looked at have been well north of 600kg and I've only seen bike engine cars so low. I'd be very interested to hear how you've achieved this. Are all the receipts available for the majority of the components used? Thanks, Ian Westfield Mega S2000 Current bid: £15,500.00 Auction ends 23 Apr, 2017 20:21 BST Bids: 29 Postage: Pickup only Place bid So he's guessed the weight of the tester and subtracted his weight and the weight of the fuel. Given the tester who tested mine and ripped my seat due to his bulk must have been 300kgs, I've now got the lightest Mega S2000 using this car weighing method.1 point
