  1. 50 Kit cars, do I need to say any more? Possibly the biggest gathering of kits outside of the Stoneleigh/Silverstone type events. With free entry and refreshments, I do not understand why more Westfield's were not there. It was worth the 1.5 hour journey for me, only 10 minutes of that was on the A1, good job because it was freezing today. A Westfield sandwich at McDonalds, Ollerton Chris was there too but on the other side of the car park With Trevor and Paul in the Tigers, and Chris and Mo in a Westfield, we just squeezed into the car park. Ian and Charlotte were already there, Andrew and Pete virtually followed us in. Other cars just kept arriving, more and more, it was an excellent turn out. After a couple of hours we decided we were all hungry and Andrew knew of a cafe nearby, so we followed Ian there. Eh? Glen decided we all needed our photograph taking, so he practiced on Ian, Charlotte and me first Then he roped everyone else in, they are a reluctant lot, hidey boo After lunch Westfields scattered in every direction and a good day was had by all. Thank you to everyone that came today, it was great to see you.

  2. Yes Paul, the journey has FINALLY come to an end today Paul and I made short work of the re-installation and with a little tweaking had a lovely idle at 1K rpm. The new starter is perfect and the new flywheel/clutch combo too. Should have done it much earlier in the build. Hey ho... Just need to cut a hole in the bonnet for the filter and get it an MOT. And then we're done

  3. I'm doing my first Javelin Sprint at Blyton on Sunday 16th April - should be lots of runs and I'm looking forward to see how the non-MSA format works. Taking old road tyres to save the sprint set for the main event (WSCC of course!) so not expecting any victories, more interested to see what it's all about. Anyone else going? Will be a lot of activity so should make for some good spectating too.

  4. Aghhhhhhhhhhh.... I swear there's a certain breed of web developer/site builder going round at the moment who is totally on trend at developing immersive user inter-active web sites that adjust to the viewers browser for the best possible experience. Or that will be some of the b*****k* spun out to their client! OK, so if done right, it would actually be the good thing they promise, except.... Except, why do so many of these **** wits insist on coding sites in such a way that they treat an iPad as a bl**** telephone sized display and insist on resizing accordingly, with, and this is the bit that really makes my p*** boil, no option to default back to a non-mobile site. It can make some sites an absolute nightmare to navigate and find anything on an iPad. Rant over, normal merely grumpy service will resume shortly!

  5. One of my favourites is the Piranha Brothers sketch. Doug n Dinsdale loosely based on the Krays, brilliant. It's one of the longer sketches, but the interview with Vince Lewis is priceless.

  6. Hi Ian, From the outside edge of the windscreen to the centre of the roll bar I get 1010mm on one drivers side and 1020mm on the passengers. The measurement from the top of the windscreen to the chassis at rear of the seats is approx 965mm. Hope this helps. Cheers Wayne

  10. @Wilfman Your solution works really well; I gave my grill a quick blast of paint just to tart it up a bit before anyone saw it, post winter! (And hide the rust). I'm not competed happy with it though, so it will either need redoing with a different finish, (the satin finish dried too glossy for my taste), but the stainless badge would save me having to spend ages linishing the existing one back to get rid of the rust pick marks.

  11. As few strips of conduit stuck to the back with Sikaflex (other brands are available!) and some fine cable ties fasten it nicely, and invisibly, to the grille

  14. The credit for the stitching has to go to the missus, the additional straps were made from webbing bought from B&Q together with buckles. I'll get the measurement for you later today (westy garaged elsewhere) if I remember rightly there's a set distance for setting up the rake of the windscreen measured from the chassis at the rear of the seats, if I can find that distance as well I'll include that.

  15. Keith & I did this event last year and had a brilliant day, you'll love it I'm sure. No pressure, but I'll be disappointed if you don't get a class win Good Luck Barnstable

  16. I saw the one Mark had, the other day, are these all solid versions, i.e. No mounting holes drilled through? If they are, can I get one from you please? (Perhaps pick up at Stoneleigh?) - I like the stainless badges, I just also like invisible mounts!

  17. I have a couple of spare standard in-braced "square type" roll bars, could take one down to Stoneleigh if it's of any use - you can have one for a tenner, if it's of any use? (not sure what postage would be, but obviously they are a bit bulky/heavy).

  18. Hi Nick. Have you considered buying a part built Westie or an unfinished project? They are out there if you know where to look. The beauty of this route being that you can have some say in the final finish and spec of the car. And they are generally cheaper than the completed cars. Mine cost me just under 2 grand last year ( and it's a nice little project for the kids to help tinker with).
