  1. Behind the scenes Blyton is going well; we needed a National A permit; which caused a bit of a delay but now sorted thanks to Paul Parker & Simon Fowler. Therefore once approved I can open the shop and publish the regs, will keep you informed as soon as the site goes live. Thank you John

  4. I don't see what's not to like about the new Top Gear, it's a million times better than Grand Tour and I think the presenters are doing a good job. I agree it feels like the celebrity interview is dragged out out a bit too long but that depends on the guest as well.

  5. Just a reminder, it's the regular monthly meet this Thursday at the Whipping Stocks, usual time, about 7.30pm Hopefully the nice weather will continue and we'll see a few Westfields.

  7. Where's Anglesey results I hear you all ask, well there's a Tel's tale behind that one but I'm not the one to spill the beans so I'll leave it to him to tell you ;-) Anyhoo, as there were soooooo many runs at Anglesey, the royal "We" have decided to just publish the best times for Saturday & Sunday. I know, I know, it's not fair but you try and work out which 5 events to publish out of 8 & 12, it's a nightmare. So without futher ado, here are the results: Anglesey Sat (Expert) Anglesey Sat (Novice) Anglesey Sun (Expert) Anglesey Sun (Novice) BTW: Sorry for the ramblings, I've been in the house alone all day and needed to chat to somebody Tiggs

  10. We had beautiful weather for this event and a great turn out of some interesting cars and bikes. Ali decided to leave the Westfield at home and come on his Harley, pictured below behind the blue Westfield. I hope the owner of the Westfield, Martin I believe, will also join us at the Warwickshire Area meetings too A very tidy Locost often turns up to this event. Middleton is a very nice location as shown here with the Stag and a Pilgrim Bulldog. Plus loads of other classic cars etc. etc. Quite a few American cars too! Hope to see you all at the next one

  12. I have a windscreen and wind deflectors fitted. I wear goggles, primarily to stop my specs being blown off my head but also to negate flies and stones that find their way into your face. Having ridden bikes for a long time I'm extremely comfortable wearing a helmet but personally I think they're a tad too restrictive (field of view / hearing impairment) in my car. I don't even see the benefit of a helmet in the rain as it's hard enough seeing through the screen on a westfield without another layer of perspex to squint through.

  13. Look at Audi A4 with the 3litre diesel engine, stupid fast. Mind I don;t line the comfort of the S-line seats in them. Had an A4 estate and it was fine, apart from the seats which was why I sold it eventually.

  14. Oh dear, refresh my memory; are you using traditional rectangular lighting blocks, with led bulb replacements in?

  15. Hi Jon, Sorry to hear this. I've got different LED rear lights than you. Mine are the factory provided items for the FW rear. I've upload pics of my rear light(the round item to the right of the light is a reflector only) with the brake on and another of the same type of light on @lloydox's car with the side lights on (Note Phil has replaced the reflector with another side/brake light) . As you can see there is a noticeable difference between side light and brake light. Look on the bright side (pun definately intended), at least no ones rear ended you! Do you recall a difference in brightness when testing when you originally fitted them? I trust you bough just LED bulbs and not complete light assemblies. I recall you having fun with the housings to get them to fit? Do you know what bulb part number you require? e.g. SBC BAZ15d. See chart below for guidance. Does your username now need to change to 5+1 CarJon ? lucas-bulb-wallchart.pdf

  18. No benefit in vented disks what so ever. (A small number of very enthusiastic owners have found it necessary on very hard driven track days to go vented, but that's about it!) These day's, you can pick up fully refurbed calipers from the likes of Big Red for such reasonable money, it's barely worth doing the refurb yourself.

  22. Cannot tow - can't fit a tow bar. I'd have a Skoda Superb 280ps 4x4 - badge aside, it's the best car I've ever had. 100% smugness from knowing you have a better car than anyone else for half the price.

  23. Some advice that was given to me (and I too ignored it!), don't binge!!!! before you know it, its over and you've got months to wait for the next installment. I'm sure most people to the same though, its just so bl**** good.

  24. I would echo all the comments made so don't panic, I'm sure all these issues can be dealt with easily. Your details show your location as Ripley, if this is Derbyshire you could come to the Derby and Notts meet on Thursday 6th April at the Clock in Shardlow to chat to members and we can look over the car as the weather is looking good. Hopefully we can help you sort these niggles so that you can get out with us and Julie (Peak District AO) on our regular trips around the peaks

  27. The pull pressure on a properly set up throttle pedal is quite low overall. Usually the reason they break is that when the throttle is fully open, the pedal has not hit the stop and people are still pushing it harder. The weak bit is usually the crimp which pulls out. Misalignment is also a reason The cure is to make sure the pedal has a stop which is set at full throttle opening.

  28. Push bike brake cables are safety critical in a way that throttle cables are not. I would expect the quality to be good. Jen

  29. Plenty of threads on people fitting brake cables from mountain bikes and finding they are smoother and just as strong and much better quality than car cables. I have used them for years now without death.

  30. You're right. Many bike cables are of better quality. (It's just the nipples at the TB end that aren't necessarily right.) I had to replace my ITB cable supplied by Omex with a bike cable due to quality issues with the Omex cable, I'm afraid. It was literally sawing through the brass cable adjusters whenever not perfectly centered. I too was doubtful at first about the bike brake cables, but got so many recommendations on here from people that had used them I decided to give it a try and was really pleased with the results. PS, last time I spoke to Omex about it last Autumn, I think they said they'd sourced a different cable supplier where this was less likely to happen.

  31. Worth investigating why it may have snapped too. Is there a throttle stop and is it properly adjusted so that the pedal touches at full throttle opening? Does the attachment where it has broken allow the cable to rotate so that it isn't being flexed back and forth? Jen
