  2. A big thank you to Mike (Kit Car Electronics) Rowland, for giving up his time today to sort out the wiring to my FreeWheel and to do a bit of mapping on the engine.... The noise is a combination of the mighty crossflow, my generator (another thanks, this time to Pete Goulding for the loan of his strobe, hence the generator, and his synchrometer) and VW's 1.6TDI in the Skoda. Trust me, the crossflow on it's own sounds great and is starting and running like never before. Essex Area Monthly Meet next Sunday and I have every intention of arriving in the little beast.

  4. I originally signed up, but as the date came closer, I could not get my car finished on time, so I left the group. Great to see the turn out though

  6. As requested, the results for 2016 Speedseries have now been made available on the "New Format" website. I will endeavour to make a copy of the previous years too but they will probably be in PDF format . It took a little while to do and was quite complicated, so if you do find any mistakes, please let me know and I will get them fixed ASAP. Hopefully they will assist you all in monitoring and assisting you to improve your PB's. They are interlinked with each other for ease. 2016 (Archived) results for Experts 2016 (Archived) results for Novices Tiggs

  7. Next Sunday, midday, at the Lodge, South Woodham Ferrers. And guess what, for those of you that have forgotten what the mighty crossflow powered pre-lit looks like, it could be there Last month was a good turn out so, weather permitting, let's make this a great one!

  8. Looking to sell my M5 owned for 18 months now, an amazing car, but I'm looking to get an all rounder car that I can tow with, fit my paramotor in the back of etc. which is possible with this car, but maybe a little too nice to be throwing spare wheels in the back of. Car is very low miles, around 14k at the moment, 6k miles I have done myself over the past 18 months. Car has a lot of extras, cameras all round, larger alloys, panoramic sunroof, etc. The speel from the auto trader advert; Comes with BMW 5 year service pack, Four-zone automatic air conditioning, Navigation system-BMW Professional, Electric glass sunroof, M rear spoiler, 20 inch M Double-spoke 343M alloy wheels, Adaptive headlights, Ambient lighting, Auto dimming rear view mirror, DAB digital radio, Damper control, Electric front seats with driver memory, Enhanced Bluetooth telephone preparation, Ext. mirrors- folding with anti-dazzle, Exterior trim, Head up display, Headlamp washer system, Heated front seats, High beam assistant, M Double Clutch Transmission- 7-speed, Park Distance Control front and rear, Real time traffic information, Reversing assist camera, Sun protection glass, Variable damper control (VDC), Xenon headlights. 2 owners, Full service history, Black, Finally the price, £34,995, ono. that's £500 less than advertised on Autotrader, and a lot cheaper than what you'd pay for from a dealership. A couple photos; Exterior Front Exterior Rear Interior Autotrader link; http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201704013932814?sort=price-asc&maximum-mileage=15000&onesearchad=New&year-from=2013&postcode=dh79jt&radius=1500&make=BMW&advertising-location=at_cars&model=M5&page=1 Cheers, Dean

  10. Ian, thats a shame, but wont take long to get the engine out and the oil seal is an easy job just behind it. Check the oil isnt leaking out the top cover plate first though. Usually it is the primary that is leaking. if you have a standard clutch plate in there, they are cheap as chips.

  12. Hi, I bought a 1990 crossflow last autumn near Birmingham. Now my friends are interested to buy a similar car. We are looking for an originally Westfield built car year model around 1988-1992. Must be in good condition as it will be driven to Finland appr. 700- miles. If you are intending to sell such a car please let us know.

  13. As this is what I always look like when on the phone, I don't do video calling ever. And if I accidentally answer a video chat, I make a point of keeping the phone clamped to my ear!

  15. The thing is with these two and their extraordinary skills, it would be easy to be taken in by that one as the repair was carried out as if real.

  16. You're very welcome Dave. Actually I looked at my times for 2016 and it certainly inspired me to go faster but then again, unless I lose use of both my arms, I can't do anything BUT go faster Tiggs

  17. Another thing to watch for when changing the flywheel is the crank position sensor. It's so long ago now that I forget the specifics, but there are two possible sensors, one long, one short. For obvious reasons, you need to match the right parts! I do know I had to swap the one that came with my engine as I fitted an 1800 flywheel onto a 2l engine. Sadly, can't recall if I had to fit the longer or shorter one, sorry. ETA. I see you have sorted what looks like a good package of guaranteed-to-work-together parts at Retro Ford, but just for completeness, I used a Brise 891410AX on ours after having real problems with heatsoak into the starter that was on there. That definitely fits properly on the 1800 flywheel. Also, I tried to find the info on the other parts I used, but unusually for me, I don't seem to have kept the receipts for the clutch parts.

  19. Quinten, i don't know if this may help you identify a suitable starter, but your flywheel looks to be the same as this one. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-SIERRA-GRANADA-2-0-DOHC-FLYWHEEL-/252834320106?hash=item3ade198eea:g:3gMAAOSwXYtYtxZV Ian

  20. OMG, that belongs in a ship! You'll probably find one of your existing starters will fit with a more normal flywheel - why not sort the flywheel/ clutch first and then see what's what.

  23. Went to watch a test on the Flying Scotsman rally (Endurance event in Borders) - fantastic to see 7 litre 1920's Bentleys being thrown around the mud! This finishes at Gleneagles tomorrow - if you get a chance to see the cars you wont regret it. Over 100 mainly prewar cars - includes over 20 'proper' Bentleys. http://www.endurorally.com/pages/flying-scotsman-rally-2017

  24. I really admire the drivers / owners who are prepared to take cars worth £1/2m plus out on wet, muddy roads rather than keep them cosseted inside. They were generally really going for it - much wheelspin, crunching of (non syncro) gears. When the 6.5 litre Bentley (2nd pic) took off from the standing start - the ground fairly shook! Dave.
