I used Iain today to get my car to NMS as I'm currently waiting on a trailer to be made. Must say I was very impressed I'm very OCD with my cars and who works on them etc. He had all the gear including blankets to protect body work. He treated the car like it was his own and checked I was happy. After ringing around a few transport companies and there prices being to be honest ridiculous. Spoke to Iain and the price was fantastic couldn't of done it for the same price with renting a trailer, fuel and time etc. Will definatley use again. A******* Thanks mate.3 points

I really admire the drivers / owners who are prepared to take cars worth £1/2m plus out on wet, muddy roads rather than keep them cosseted inside. They were generally really going for it - much wheelspin, crunching of (non syncro) gears. When the 6.5 litre Bentley (2nd pic) took off from the standing start - the ground fairly shook! March 3rd, 2017 Spend: £47.04 My boss told me to take days off or loose them at the end of the month (we can only carry 10 days over, and I've got 15 left), so today was a day off and spend in the garage. Fitted some more Mikalor clamps and other minor bits that arrived during the week. And then started on the big job ahead... the electrics. Managed to finish the exhaust side, although I am still some connectors short, but the wires are all in. March 4th, 2017 Spend: £99.28 Put the inlet side wiring in and fitted the new Powervamp Clubsport NP battery and tray. Also changed the oil filter (Mann W77) and filled the engine up with oil (Ford Castrol Magnatec Professional 5W30). Getting closer now... March 5th, 2017 Spend: £6.99 Started on the scuttle cleanup. Wanted to install a FIA battery cut-off switch instead of the battery cut-off switch I had previously (operating the battery ground), but decided that the current 'switch panel' was already crowded, so decided to create a new one. Took longer than planned due to making a stupid mistake with the cut out required for the FIA switch. Ordered all the battery cables I need, so I can continue that next week. March 11th, 2017 Spend: £220.04 Received a voicemail yesterday to say that my fuel tank was finished, so after walking the dog, off I went to Armour Fabrications again and collected it, along with a modified exhaust link pipe and a straight filler cap. Upon my return it became quite quickly clear that the link pipe needs a bigger bent, but I did manage to fit the exhaust. Also, the fuel tank filler was put on the position on the rear (above where the old one was), but for my top filler it is too far back. He'd already said to pop round if any tweaks were required, so I'll give him a call Monday to see what can be arranged for Thursday when I've got another day off. Spend the rest of the day making up new straps from some scrap strips that the fabricator cut for me. March 12th, 2017 Spend: £17.95 Started on the wiring in the scuttle. Am already so much happier with the result than I ever was last year when I did it. March 14th, 2017 Spend: £39.52 Last couple of Mikalor clamps arrived in the post today, so finished off the cooling system. Just need to fill it up and check for leaks. March 15th, 2017 Spend: £18.33 Some minor tidy up jobs around the cooling system whilst Mrs Q prepares dinner. March 16th, 2017 Spend: £37.54 Up early to visit Armour Fabrication again to have the filler spout moved and my exhaust link pipe amended. Popped round @black st without any notice for a cuppa whilst waiting which just shows that this club has the best members. Arrived home and fitted the exhaust and started to work on the fine tuning of the fuel tank straps. What a nightmare. It only has two straps, one over the short side, one over the long side. Finally managed to get the short side screwed down, but I've re-used the screws that were on the other strap, so need to do some shopping tomorrow first and pick up some self tappers that fit. The spout however sits nicely underneath the cap, so once strapped in, I can finally complete the fuel side of the conversion and get some petrol in! March 17th, 2017 Spend: £0.00 Continued with electrics. Mounted ECU. March 18th, 2017 Spend: £3.39 Continued again with electrics. Other than indicator/hazards all circuits completed. March 19th, 2017 Spend: £9.58 Connected up passenger side front lights. Made some brackets for the top coolant pipe. Fitted long strap over the fuel tank and completed the fuel filler and fuel pump hoses. March 25th, 2017 Spend: £27.87 Revisited the speed sensor as it could not sense the bolt head and be secure at the same time. Created a Z bracket and now it can. Completed driver side front lights and the hazard/indicator wiring. Filled the car with about 8L mixture of 50/50 Comma SCA5L and Triple QX De-Ionised Water. Ran out of time (and solder!) to finish off the scuttle wiring. March 30th, 2017 Spend: £66.38 Re-did the dash wiring and finished off scuttle wiring. Time to test! Mixed result. Hazards, indicators and lights all seemed to work, but horn and fan didn't. Re-visited the wiring and got the fan working, but even testing the horn in isolation didn't make any noises. Contacted seller who advised to turn the adjuster screw on it. Will try that tomorrow. The ECU however appears to be dead. Spend ages measuring and tracing, but none-the-wiser why it doesn't seem to power up. More fun (ahum) tomorrow. March 31st, 2017 Spend: £20.00 Had some great help from the forums, and most notably a diagram from Mika, aka @Kit Car Electronics, helped me visualise the flow of current and after a good nights sleep I rolled the car out of the garage and paid attention to the ECU connector and ECU relays and I could only come to one conclusion: the green wire is not the ignition live, the white wire is. So I swapped them around and sure enough, switching on the ignition powered up the fuel pump. Pressed the starter button and ... It runs! The smoke is from the exhaust wrap. It drinks a lot of petrol though, and @black st seems to think it is not running on all cylinders, so more tinkering tomorrow. Last month: £ 5026.54 This month: £ 613.91 ----------+ Total: £ 5640.452 points

001 as the last 3 digits would signify it is the first chassis that was made in a particular year, it is not a reference to the first chassis of that particular model. AFAIK the chassis number will not give you that information.2 points

Went to watch a test on the Flying Scotsman rally (Endurance event in Borders) - fantastic to see 7 litre 1920's Bentleys being thrown around the mud! This finishes at Gleneagles tomorrow - if you get a chance to see the cars you wont regret it. Over 100 mainly prewar cars - includes over 20 'proper' Bentleys. http://www.endurorally.com/pages/flying-scotsman-rally-20172 points

Great... now I want a new bathroom! Apparently the effect should dull down a little bit as the stone dries out, and certainly on the top section it's just unfortunate that the join is on a darker seam. Either way, I'm pacified.2 points

Not sure I would worry about the spigot bearing. Its the same gearbox going on the same crankshaft in the same bearing you currently have. They 'can' be a a sod to get out and fit in and if its fine leave alone1 point

On Saturday 1st April it is the first breakfast meet of 2017 at Curborough Sprint Course, Lichfield, 8.30 - 11.30am. I cannot find any information about who is on track, unless anyone on here knows? Anyway, hope to see you there and if the weather is nice I can lead a run into the Peak District, if anyone wants to?1 point

Travelling down the M1/A38 thinking what on earth are we doing, driving in the peeing rain to stand in a wet field with no cover, God knows. Ian Podmore, Paul Hammond and Martyn and Sue were waiting for us, what other excuse do you need. Morgans on track, there is another good excuse Top girl, Sue, blagged a passenger ride in one, how good is that? here she is After a couple of hours we went for lunch at Fradley Junction canal Followed by cake Then it was off to Trevturtle's house to check my falling oil pressure, which turned out to be the dodgy sensor that Glen thought it was. Still, it was a good excuse for lashings of tea and chats. Ironically your WSCC calendar has my picture of Steve Everall's car at Curborough in the rain for this new month of April, luckily there was no rain there today. What is that collie dog looking for? Ooh, did my camera happen to take a pic of a rogue MX5 that made it onto track. We are off to Blyton tomorrow to watch the Toyota/ MX5's on track and quiz them about what size wheels, type of tyres and roll bar to put on mine. Thank you to those that came and I can fully understand why the others didn't, you need a screw loose to want to do that.1 point

Damn you and your ears Paul @black st called me yesterday after I posted the video and told me if it was running on all cylinders? I had no idea, so after a chat, he kindly offered to come over today with his synchrometer and tools and see what was going on. After some diagnosing it looks like the coil pack is not working 100% of the time and most persistently, the spark in number 2 does not fire. We'd picked up a set of new sparks in the mean time but neither Halford or Eurocarparts had the coil pack in stock, so we had to leave it at that. But then I mentioned about the rattle (truth be told, I had heard it as well, but I wasn't sure if it was something or what it was) that @CraigHew may have been referring to. It was quickly diagnosed as the starter motor that fails to disengage after the engine is running. So... if you cast your mind back to last year where I struggled to decide if the clutch/flywheel I got with the engine was suitable... I think the answer is no. Am now angry at myself for running out of money at a time where it would have been easy to fix... but Paul reckons we can get the engine out and in again in a day once I've got the right gear.1 point

Sort of! Although various people have done the conversion from a regular chassis over the years, they've all used bespoke conversion bits plus Westfield supplied non-S2000 parts. There is an exception though, Phil, @lloydox built an S2000 powered car at the same time as Westfield were developing the Mega S2000, so there's actually quite an overlap with how they're built. Phil's uses a T5 chassis, so not an S2000 chassis, so from that point of view, I think yours is probably the first, or at least, the first to be completed, there may be an incomplete development chassis somewhere? However, unlike all the earlier conversions, Phil's does use a few Westfield Mega S2000 parts, so in some respects, they have a similar look, though you can see plenty of difference too.1 point

Started getting the car out from under the covers when the heavens wheel and truly opened, so as the weather looked better tomorrow, decided to give it a miss. Anything on tomorrow in the general area, run wise?1 point

For info, this problem seems to have fixed itself after a couple of weeks, it's now fine across all devices.1 point

I'll have a kit car then, it's only 15 miles from my home - count me in as long as Julie doesn't critique / compare cleanliness of cars.1 point
