  2. Big, big, big thank you to @Kit Car Electronics, @Trevturtle, @bunje and the others who helped out with suggestions in the thread (and past threads). NEVER BELIEVE WIRING COLOURS!!!! Using Mike's drawn diagram and a clear head after a troublesome night's sleep I got back into the garage this morning. Measured for continuity between brown at connector and brown at relays. Yes, they are one and the same. Then did the same for the green one at the connector and the green one at the relay. Yes, they are also the same... however, the green at the connector is NOT the ignition 12V, it is the bleeding fuel pump output! So swapped the green and white wires around and sure enough, on turning the ignition, the fuel pump whirs up and shuts after 3 secs. Pressed the starter button and after cranking a bit... IT LIVES!!!! Lots of smoke coming of the exhaust wrap (knew this was going to happen, just needs to be burned off), and the idle is racing up and down between 800 and 1200, so I'm going to look at the throttle cable and ensure it opens the throttle bodies slightly. Also would like to make sure both sides are equally open, so some reading to do on balancing them and seeing if I can find one of those synchrometer things to see what the air flow is into the bodies. Looks like I'll be taxing the car tonight after all

  3. Not sure what you were expecting, but it looks like they did a nice job of it. Almost impossible to make it seamless and colour match perfect unless it's hewn from one solid piece, which would cost the earth. Give it a bit time and you'll not notice it at all - I'm guessing it looks a lot better than what was there before. I've got a stone fireplace surround in my sitting room that's about 250 years old, and that's made from at least 10 pieces that don't match precisely. I got lucky with it when Lady Chair (for it is she) decided to have the old monstrosity ripped out. The builder had it in his garden under some brambles, after taking it out of the house of the governor of Warwick Prison when some idiot "modernised" it. He described it and I bought it sight unseen for £100 in 1990, because he thought it was alabaster when he put it away. Turned out it was marble and he could have easily got ten times that much for it. He grumbled and moaned all the way through installing it.

  4. It is probably the throttle body balance Quinten . It will need setting up before you drive it or it will run like a bag of spanners at lower speeds.

  6. Looking good, but you will need to balance the throttle bodies , as they are to dangler, so borrow someones balancer or buy one from Burtons etc. That will make it run a lot better. Well done Quinten, nearly ready for the test runs.

  9. Hi quinten it might be too late but I bought the car builder solution crimper for the superseal. It made a massive difference over my existing crimper., it was almost pleasurable! It made the job expensive but it means that for the price of return postage you can borrow mine. Let me know if you still need them.

  10. Can't make any sense of the wire colours, but normally if you have a main power relay and a fuel pump relay, they'd be wired something like this, Q:

  13. Simon, The car looks fantastic. I'm not sure which 'downs' roads you use but I live in Grove so will look out for you over the summer. If I am out for a recreational blast it could be in Stephen H's old Westfield or on my Ducati 996.... Simon.

  15. Well the season gets underway this weekend folks, so can all you folk attending this weekends event get some updates on the Facebook page as the event progresses if you can manage it. I know time is of a premium when your competing but if week could get a few minutes of live feed that would be great. Lets spread the word on the Speed Series.
