I've come to work in the Eleven today as I need to call in with it to a nearby fibreglass company (to arrange for a few bodywork bits and pieces to be done). The running in of the engine is progressing well so cruising down the A34 at 3,500rpm in top kept me up nicely with the Lane 2 traffic. The usual stops at our local newsagent and the BP garage at Didcot (collecting sandwiches) were lengthened with people coming to ask what it is and to take photos! I even chatted with a Westfield owning lorry driver at the garage. I shall be running home to Oxford over the Berkshire Downs so today will be a good day!12 points

Hello from a very new member. Ordered the FW Special Edition Kit of bits with 2L Zetec yesterday for delivery close to 1st of June. Moved over from the dark side as previous "fun cars" were 1999 Camaro Z28 and 2005 Corvette C6, which I broke. Many moons ago I completed a Dutton Phaeton and Dutton Rachero. Also part completed and sold a KVA GT40 (those were the days) and a Dax Cobra. Missed building things so back for more punishment, now retired so at least I have plenty of time. Lots of question are on the way. Alan2 points

The Eleven (based on the 1957 Lotus Eleven) was the first car kit manufactured by Westfield in 1983. Following its introduction, customers asked for a similar evocation of the Lotus 7 and these have evolved into the SE variants that make up the bulk of the Westfield "fleet" today. The Eleven is still produced (in batches of five kits at a time) - three or four batches annually, depending on demand from customers. They are a rare sight on the road - I have only seen a couple despite knowing about them from the start of their production. Look in the X Cars section of the forum for car builds. The kit is MG Midget based and most of us settle for A series engines. The support for Spridgets means that donor parts and service items are pretty straightforward to obtain, even now, over 40 years since the last 1275cc Midget was produced. The Eleven is a real head turning car that attracts much attention from all sorts of people. Not a car to shuffle about anonymously in! Simon2 points

Ooh, I'm putting mine forward for that title too - quotes from Mrs K: "Why did you by that MK chassis - I thought you wanted a Westfield? Why not sell it and buy the one you really want" "Of course you should get a brand new engine, it will be more reliable" "Yes a BGH Gearbox makes perfect sense - drivability is important isn't it?" "I'll be happy when you get a trailer - not keen on you driving the Westy all those motorway miles to Track Days and Events"2 points

I think the Leaderboard section should have a tab for % posts liked (ie (number of likes / number of posts) x 100). That way I might catch @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - WSCC AO Rep up.1 point

Was a great day love that track, though an extra 3rd timed run would have been nice considering we were finished by 3:30pm! Shame I'm stuck on 1B tyres when class F allows 1C, as I'm competing in ASEMC and B19 championships as well and don't want to move up into class C13 Sports Libre Cars, I'm sure some ZZRs would help me hit that target time!!!!1 point

Garry (Bunn) is the Derby and Notts AO, and they certainly do still meet up! Rest assured you'll be most welcome at any and every Area Meet you visit. There's no division of club membership between areas and no one is tied to any one particular area; some members in dpfact don't really do the "meet thing", and that's ok, though they do miss out on a lot but equally, many members visit several different areas on a regular basis, and many of us go on runs with different areas, regardless of whether they're big, formal multi area runs, or not. It doesn't matter as long as everyone is enjoying themselves. We try to be as inclusive and welcoming as posssible, where ever people are joining events from, it really is a case of the more the merrier.1 point
