Hello from a very new member. Ordered the FW Special Edition Kit of bits with 2L Zetec yesterday for delivery close to 1st of June. Moved over from the dark side as previous "fun cars" were 1999 Camaro Z28 and 2005 Corvette C6, which I broke. Many moons ago I completed a Dutton Phaeton and Dutton Rachero. Also part completed and sold a KVA GT40 (those were the days) and a Dax Cobra. Missed building things so back for more punishment, now retired so at least I have plenty of time. Lots of question are on the way. Alan2 points

Ben It looks very much like the old forum software had an "undelete" function, but the new one does not. From what I have read, it seems the developers thought it was confusing to have so many "states" of deletion, so replaced it with a big fek-off warning (which I assume you accidentally ignored). The only option I can think of right now (unless anyone else knows better @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - WSCC AO Rep ?) is to try and get the database restored from a backup, then run a sql query to select the old thread and then figure out how to insert it back in again. This may take a little time. I'll try and find an easier route, but if not, then when I get some spare time, I'll look at getting the thread back from the dead for you. Cheers Chris2 points

The best bit about driving through puddles is that they are usually deepest on your passengers side of the car. Evil Jen (Assuming UK car on left hand side roads etc)1 point

You'll need a band but don't think you need a briefing - the driver is 'responsible' for the passenger IIRC1 point

Yes, I'd seen "Scott's list" but just wondered about an up to date S2000 figure too. Surely the factory would have a definative number of kits that have been made?1 point

I like getting my jaws stuck into Warburtons crumpets...1 point

Its nothing more than a few names and quite a few ' er supercharged red one ' on the list , we were emailing, so nothing fancy Glad to say black seems the minority , so maybe more valuable too1 point

That's Scott's list. The list @Thrustyjust mentioned was a quick one we threw together off the top of our heads. I don't know what others would feel about me posting details of others cars on a public forum?1 point

You could buy some half doors, these are easily available and a good alternative with a hood like yours. It will remove buffeting and keep you relatively warm. If you wear outdoor clothing and a hat/helmet you will be fine. I drove from 700 miles in a day with half doors and a wind deflector in the rain, it wasn't fun but I made it. With a windscreen, half doors and a roof you will be in sheer luxury1 point

I don't think it will be as bad as you expect without doors Tom. Worst case can you jimmy something together with thick cardboard and gaffa tape?1 point

Garry (Bunn) is the Derby and Notts AO, and they certainly do still meet up! Rest assured you'll be most welcome at any and every Area Meet you visit. There's no division of club membership between areas and no one is tied to any one particular area; some members in dpfact don't really do the "meet thing", and that's ok, though they do miss out on a lot but equally, many members visit several different areas on a regular basis, and many of us go on runs with different areas, regardless of whether they're big, formal multi area runs, or not. It doesn't matter as long as everyone is enjoying themselves. We try to be as inclusive and welcoming as posssible, where ever people are joining events from, it really is a case of the more the merrier.1 point

Don't know who Gary is but I do know that Julie Hall is the Peak District coordinator and does a fantastic job. If you fancy a trip listed on this site it doesn't matter who has organised it you would be welcomed. Another thing is to join the NWKCOC on Facebook. They also organise trips out but for all types of kit cars. I have no doubt Julie will be in contact. She is currently away on one of her 52 holidays that she also manages to get in a year!1 point

Tels’s Tales Rockingham 26th March 2017 Well what a way to start my season! Spent most of the winter putting spare engine in and doing several other mods so hoped for a good shakedown but my clutch failed to work after convoy sighting run. I was not too pleased to say the least but Steve offered me a double drive in his car so at least I would get out on track. The day was bright, warm and sunny so the other 12 competitors got ready to score good points in both Expert as well as Novice classes. It was good to see some old faces as well as some new ones joining in this year’s competition which has around 60 registered drivers. In the Novice class B1 four people battled it out over the 2 practice and 2 timed runs. Steve Carpenter came out top with Simon Jones, Roz Kennett and Matt Haynes getting quicker throughout the day. Paul Beesley blasted round in the busa for a fastest time of 78.13secs and he was quickest novice. In class A2 Mark Bishop beat George Newrick by nearly 4 secs whilst Barny Francis was fastest Westfield on the day with 76.45 secs and Steve Everall had a good run with 79.92secs despite a clutch and gearbox problem but he was happy to be back on ZZR tyres. Craig Spooner went well in class C with a best of 81.61 secs whilst Michael Skidmore’s first timed run was his best with 84.52 secs In class J2 Pete Goulding was second in his class so picked up 100 points. For most this was a great start to the season but I spent 9 hours on Monday diagnosing and trying to rectify the problem on the spare engine I am using for the moment. It had been stood in my garage for since a rebuild 18 months ago so I did not expect to have problems ……but that’s motorsport. I hope to be ready to set off for Anglesey on Friday so hope to see you there either in your cars or spectating Terry Everall Class G competitor1 point

The trouble with most solutions is unless you are rigourous about maintenance, they will do a Fawlty Towers fire extinguisher job on you every time you need them, so don't forget to allow for that aspect. A battery based UPS is fine in the right scenario, as is a backup supply. You don't appear to need sustained power, just a backup, so I think I'd probably favour a generator as well TBH. At my last place we had a range of solutions for various systems. Most critical had dual battery UPS fed from A supply that had flywheel UPS to hold up supply while the generators fired up and stabilised (two redundant systems of same), less critical had battery UPS on a different single generator backed supply. All systems got checked on a regualr and routine basis, fuel reserves were montired to ensure they didn't degrade, replaced as required. It can get expensive.1 point
