  2. In recent months I have managed to secure and purchase a 1973 sporting trials car... its a rare beast that is running in the HSCC / Historic Sporting Trials Car Association Championship. If there is any interest I would gladly share some pics and my experiences trying master the dark arts of trickling and blasting....

  12. I can't go to work in mine as I car share with 2 others, so one would have to hang on to the roll bar and there's so many bits from work on it I probably wouldn't have a job by the end of the day!

  13. I used to love the Cat before all the cameras in fact I taught my daughter to drive up the cat when she was still on L plates in the snow. Evil dad but she is the only one of my children I would trust in the Westie.

  16. Managed to get an hour out in the sun with the car this afternoon. Filled up with fuel and a steady blat over the C&F and the Cloud. Felt so much better with both pairs of TBs working together!! And great to be out in it again.

  23. Ah, I was going to add, if it's just fittings, T7 Design are excellent. I've had loads of stuff from them over the years, from vents to blowers, control cables, ducting etc. in fact, the only thing I haven't had from them, is their actual heater units, though I know people that do use them, and rate them highly. The quality of everything I've had/seen from them has been top notch.

  31. Camera mounted on phoney f1 BRM for film "Grand Prix" . James Garner using Ferrari driver Chris Amon's helmet colour . Amon drove the Ford GT40 camera car used to tow the phoney F1 drivers around the track and film them in close up , he took a delight in scaring the krap out of the cast .

  33. 10mm would be about right - I think that's what I removed on mine but it may depend on the brand of track rod end (TRE) - some are slightly longer (or shorter) than others ! A fairly crude but reasonably accurate way is to undo the extender on both sides, align the front wheels to be parallel to the rears (see explanation later), centralise the steering and then rest the steering arm extenders against the TRE's to see if you need to take any more metal off. You can check if it's safe by measuring the depth of the thread in the TRE and the thread depth of the extender - as long as there's enough depth spare in the TRE to allow the extenders to fully tighten up it will be ok. Now, to get the tracking pretty close (or at least neutral) I use thin nylon cord - if you get some in a bright colour it makes it easier see. Then basically wrap the cord around the tyres (just missing the wheel arches at the rear) so that the cord is lying across the surface of each tyre (use some tape to hold it there) - at the front you can then see how much to adjust them in or out to get them parallel with the rears - I know a racing car manufacturer that would do this and allow a mm or two for toe in/out using this method and when tested with proper kit it was pretty spot on (though that was before the days of lasers / mirrors and digital displays )
