Arrived home safe and sound. Forgot to take my sat nav with me so took a rather more circuitous route to Loughborough than planned but then it was plain sailing Lots of rain but car ran faultlessly, just drank rather a lot of fuel :-) In gear acceleration is incredible but bizarrely you don't feel it, the torque (over 350 lb ft) just hurls the car forwards without breaking sweat Cleaning starts tomorrow - weather permitting5 points

I do get the feeling that people that like turbos is because they crave for a diesel... Awaiting the hate mail as I type2 points

Just a few weeks to go now. By my reckoning we have 4 garages. Me; Barry; Bernie & Ash. 15 runners, so are we all going to look after each other to make sure we have garage space?2 points

I have had turbos and rev monsters and for me it's the throttle response that makes it feel enjoyable. Typically this only comes from responsive high revving engines . They don't need to be powerful. My 2cv race car had the same lovely revability enjoyed 7400rpm. My Fiat panda is also enjoyable. I just choke on the fumes of turbo diesel torque when they accelerate away from me.........2 points

I have just been looking on ebay and engine/gearboxes are averaging 3K Does this mean the end of the line for this model? Does that now mean that mine is a classic?1 point

Nothing personal, it's just I am so desperate to shift the DERV stigma, I'll throw anybody under the bus... Especially if it's a DERV engined one..!1 point

Please Mr Chairman, I have lived at "Sporty Diesel House" for too long (even the village postie has asked me what's going on), it looks like somebody else deserves your DERV related abuse now..?1 point

They sound a bit like half a V6, plus will have the sport mode exhaust popping. Plus it can run as a 2 cylinder just to really mess with your head Should be very good John...1 point

We have a 3 pot Skoda Citigo. it sounds really funky and warbles along . 60 hp isnt at the right end of the spectrum for speed. But it does go well enough. Wife totally loves it, which when she drives like a women possesed, its really surprised everyone. Cant complain about it myself. All engines are getting less capacity now. As for the new ST being a 3 pot, it should go well enough. The early 1 ltr cars with turbo's did suffer blowing up, mainly because of a plastic cooling pipe splitting on the expansion vessel, but now Ford use a rubber one. They even put the 1 ltr in Mondeos !! I guess the proof is in the driving, but it should sound funky like our Skoda at acceleration and the only slight give away is a slight rock at tickover for us. Wife wants the VRS version, should the Up GTI migrate into the rest of the range after release.1 point

There will now be a Sunday Morning Breakfast Meeting on Sunday 19th March at the Red Kite on Denby Dale Road, Wakefield, WF4 3BB, just off J39, M1 The pub serves a full breakfast menu until 11:00, so meet up at around 10:30. If this is successful, then we'll make it a regular event taking place on the 3rd Sunday of the month. Everyone welcome from wherever you're from. This is NOT replacing the Fox and Grapes meeting, which will still be held on the 1st Tuesday.1 point

+1 I grew up with turbos but I'm not a fan. I like my power with lots of revs, it makes the car more alive and in keeping with the type of car. In my own opinion of course.1 point

well he left me ok, and left a nice no 11 in the gravel of the drive! (I'd better change my avatar and car details)1 point

I picked mine up in january when it was just above freezing, had 180 miles to do with an aeroscreen. It started off steady eddy (couple of blats as you do) I then realised whilst coming down the m5 I was seriously running out of daylight so me and the blue brick had to wind it up a bit. We bonded on the M5 me and her. Made it back to Bristol with the sun just set. Chilled to the core mind, but with a smile on my face. Enjoy it, no weather can ruin collection day!1 point

I would get the color tested and matched to get a very close touch up paint match mixed up or I'd go to a department store and buy any woman's nail polish that is close and then test them in a hidden spot or on a piece of scrap. The nail polish deal is well proven in the high end bicycle business where getting matching touch up paint can be near impossible. There are so many shades of nail polish that one can almost always find a very tight match....and they come with a small brush right in the bottle making it super easy to apply. dave1 point

You should always have at least one spare set of wheels for any hobby car And a spreadsheet to track them!1 point

I paid £3500 for mine last year and I have seen them for up to 4.5k at times. I guess with the S2000 actually going up in value as a car , then the important bit follows suit. There was one on the ebay for a bargain £2.5k recently ! . As for last of the S2000 westies. The issue is that production stopped 8 years ago for the Honda and low mileage good engines are pretty rare now. If I was to build again, then I would look at the ST lump. Not that I dont love the engine in my car and suits the car really well, just you could get a full engine , nearly new for the ST for half the S2000 engine. Although it would be backward with a 5 speed box than the 6 on the Honda.1 point
