John I am happy to help out answering questions one day and might be able to leave my car but won't be able to confirm for sure for a few weeks as I am waiting to exchange on a house and dates may change. Also I assume people leaving their car on the stand get a free entry ticket same as last time I recall being at Stoneleigh about 5 years ago when wscc cars were parked up along the wall along with sponsors. There was a big stand in front with a marquee that blocked visibility and was not ideal so worth checking the plan !! Also I think other than numbers and stickers competition cars don't really look that different from a lot of road cars. I wonder if other ideas to attract attention and interest? e.g videos playing, driving simulator (there is a chap that is often at Shelsley and he sells tickets for a simulator of you driving up the hill, a display cabinet of trophies, a car on corner weight scales? discounted entry to wscc sprint school if enter on the day, a speed series sticker to take, a competition to win a day at one of the hill climb driving schools (perhaps Harewood, Shelsley, Gurston, Loton or Prescott might be happy to offer at a discount as you would be marketing their events etc etc David2 points

I love the story of the printer purchase and it proves that there is humour in every thing if you look. As I said my Mum died last year so I was working at home when one of our IT guy's called, playing in the background was Eva Cassidy, he heard it and excitedly shouted, "jeez Jeff I thought you were quite trendy what is that **** you are listening to"? I slowly explained I was choosing music for my mums funeral, I wished I could have seen his face as he spluttered and coughed went quite and was lost for words. My mum would have loved that especially as it cost nothing!1 point

Well - from my USA standpoint things aren't getting any brighter. One thing that hasn't gotten much attention over the past few days due to the fog created by the Muslim ban and the lies about crowd size is that the Department of State has been largely emptied. It is customary for all the career diplomats to tender their resignations when a new president is seated and then typically the new administration does not accept them and these valuable and experienced diplomats are rehired. This time it worked differently. A good number of diplomats resigned ,not to stay in line with tradition, but instead because they would not work for trump no matter how just the cause. It then appeared that the rest tendered their resignations as is tradition. This time however trump accepted all the resignations....but not really. It has come out over the past few days that these career diplomats were told that they needed to resign or be fired and that most would be made redundant any way you look at it. So now the USA has only a few of its experienced diplomats and the vast majority of the posts are currently empty. Very soon we will have a new head of the department, Tillerson, and he will be our new secretary of state. So now we have a person, Tillerson, who has zero experience in the department he has been appointed to run and most all of the pros that could advise him and bump him in the right direction and keep him from making real mistakes, with real consequences, have been fired. Make of it what you will. There are many people smarter than myself that see this, and the many moves like it, as a power grab that is intended to remove oversight and the normal checks-and-balances that keep a department from doing stupid stuff. I'm hoping for the best but I'm ready for the stupid stuff. dave1 point

I am the old people in my life and I find as time passes, I tend to buy more and more expensive stuff, having learned that buying cheap is a waste of time and money. But, I do also apply the "it'll see me out" test to some items.1 point

Just so you all know, the space in Hall 2 has not been provided to the club free of charge by the organisers, as it had been prior to last year's show. The club is directly paying a four-figure sum for that space, and is doing so solely to promote and support the Speed Series. Therefore it is critical that we get Speed Series cars on stand and granite-solid commitment from the volunteer owners that they will bring their car for both days of the show. In the past, we have had volunteer owners cry off at the very last minute, leaving us with empty stand space, egg on our collective faces and a flea in our ears from the organisers, all of which was most embarrassing and irritating. This is an important one and will definitely affect future Stoneleighs and other promotional ventures if the stand is not filled with Speed Series cars, so your help is not only greatly appreciated, it is vital - thanks.1 point

My Gadget Guru mate has suggested either of these two... HTH... ANNKE HD-TVI 8CH 1080P Security DVR Video System I would say this is a good HD system with a 2TB drive – seems worth the price at £309.00 and has a lot of good reviews... https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01H6YHQWW/ref=pd_sim_sbs_0_6?ie=UTF8&refRID=XKTT7PE2TMF2G092E2QK [ProHD 1080P] ANNKE 8CH 1080P POE NVR This one is a bit more expensive at 419.00 but I would say worth the extra £100, slightly easier to set up (smaller connections to put through the wall) and better quality cameras (including increased night vision) https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01JLKFIYC/ref=pd_sim_sbs_0_6?ie=UTF8&refRID=XKTT7PE2TMF2G092E2QK1 point

Hinge down panel in the passenger footwell is by far the "best" position I've come across so far. Easy to get at should diagnostic/engine mapping access to the serial port be required, yet protected from the heat and potential water, under the bonnet. I've had them mounted on both the tunnel top behind the dash, and on the inside of the scuttle before now, both positions turned out to be awkward when anything needed to be done. Some ecu's do come with mounting points built in, and will bolt in place, otherwise I use Industrial heavy duty Velcro; as long as the surfaces it's being stuck to are properly clean - especially aluminum, I even clean the spot with a scotchbrite pad, if necessary, and given a bit of time for the adhesive to "grip", it's very strong! Do make sure the wiring loom is properly secured though, otherwise, the loom itself can be trying to lift the ecu, or twist it, which in turn puts strain on the plug and connections.1 point
