It was 2 degrees when we got home. Glen has to move his car for me to access the garage (which he had to scrape ice off this morning) and the temperature gauge was reading 2 degrees at 3pm. The higher ground in the Peak District was no doubt colder, oh my, it certainly felt very, very cold. I can't recommend it, but I can't give it up either.1 point

Wow, very envious of getting out. Think us southerners have been colder than you rabble up there. We got to 1 deg this afternoon after minus 7 last night. Mmmm cake...............1 point

We met at Matlock and finally put a patient Russ out of his misery by telling him where we were going. He rewarded us by telling us how lovely and warm his tin top was, especially the heated seats. Don't forget though, this man came out in torrential rain with no roof or heater last winter TWICE! Matlock - Martyn and Sue, Andy and Debbie, Matt and Jasmine, and us. In the very cold, drizzly rain we set off to Hathersage, diverting in Rowsley to take a cute little road up to Stanton-in the-Peak, where we were rewarded with lovely views, granted, they will be better on a sunny day. We arrived at the Pool Cafe in Hathersage to see Allan and Jill's Westfield already parked up. The Pool Cafe belongs to the outdoor 30m long swimming pool. Heated in the summer and used by the local triatheletes in the winter, as they train for the open water swimming. Martyn had forgot his trunks though, funny that! Hathersage As we sat in the cafe it snowed and I was convinced that we could not make the journey up Winnats Pass, but Glen and Martyn reassured me it would be OK, and it was. Breakfast was ordered, although it was nearer lunchtime by now. Anyone fancy a swim? Next, off we went up Winnats Pass, it was freezing cold, as cold as the day we went to Bridlington at Christmas but there was no sun today, making it the coldest day yet this winter. The route landed us at the Insomnia Cafe on Calver crossroads, always a good place to car watch. A bright green Vectra, sounding very nice, went past, chased by a Nissan 350Z and rather quickly followed by a Scooby. I couldn't believe the Vectra, first one that I have seen like that, I used to have them as my company car and always thought they were just practical workhorses. It is also a good place to have cake. I am going to relinquish all responsibility for the next part. The boys made me do it and Debbie, my darling, please, please forgive me...........1 point

Picking up a 16 Plate Yeti 4x4 for my wife next Sunday to replace her Octavia 4x4. Did think about Freelanders and the like but the Yeti was the one she liked best. Its got almost as many toys as my Superb too.1 point

Wheres 'here'? Was 2 degrees when I left the house this morning to meet up with the peak district crew, was 0 degrees by the time I met them, then out for a quick run before breakfast, where it snowed. Luckily, i had the heated seat on full, the climate control on 25 degrees and "Desert Island Discs" on R4 Extra. If anything, i was too comfortable.1 point

Just come back from a walk along the beach with the dog, virtually no wind so it felt ok, however there was a strange person with shorts on up to his knees in the sea, he did have his hood up though which may have offered thermal protection to less obvious parts the head.1 point

The latest wife was considering a DD pop along car. She had a liking for the Fiat 500. ( dont worry I cured that) But looking at 3 year old cars with 20k on the clock with MOT advisories and failures was a real eye opener on many cars ( thank god for the DVLA MOT website !!) , to the point we shunned ever thinking about on. Yes, they 'share' the same platform as the KA , but I wouldnt expect balljoints, wishbones, rear springs and exhausts to be a failure on a 3 year old car. Now, lets extend it to 4 years and see what happens to those potential advisories becoming deadly. As John above says, we fettle cars , but Joe Average just gets in and uses it , without any thought. I have just been out the front of the house and found a few stones in the daughters car tyres, so picked the all out........................1 point

Thermometer said 4 degrees so I was going to go out. I walked out the back door, felt the wind chill, shuddered and walked back inside. I've just learnt to accept I'm a fully paid up member of the Wimp brigade...1 point

Get a piece of alloy off ebay or a local supplier and redesign to fit. You can get fibre glass blanks too from some places.1 point

Some of the more eagle eyes among you will have noticed that the scoring method for the J classes has changed. If anyone ( particularly class j competitors) is unclear from the regs on how the new scoring method for the J classes will work please feel free to PM me and I will explain more. Mark1 point
