If you are still struggling for clearance after that, you could always fit a thicker shim plate between engine & box, or just double up. iIRC there are small spring steel clips that latch the release bearing onto the clutch arm. Takes a small amount of force to press the bearing past them and into place.2 points

Culloden is just east of Inverness and the funicular up cairngorm is something I never tire off in fact it's one of my fave runs on a afternoon out i can from home go to Tomintoul over the brig o broon the back road to nethybridge coylumbridge and up cairngorm Geoffrey is working extra shifts but sure he will be along soon with his twopenneth worth if you do stop over I can suggest a n alternative route to killin that misses most of the dreaded a9 out taking you out over Tomintoul, the lecht, braemar , glenshee and cross country to killin1 point

Dave, I mentioned Pott Shrigley when I saw you last Saturday, it's only 40 minutes from Chadderton, try and squeeze it into your plans if you can. When? Let me just check, oh I am free every weekend for the forseeable. It's the Tin Hut Coffee Tavern, Pott Shrigley, the cutest cafe in the Peak District area and we all just have to go. Cheers Julie1 point

Shared on FB. A Sadev coming up second hand should stand out somewhat. Absolutely gutted for you though. Anyone got any links to share the missing parts side of things with the Northern Irish rally lads? Quite a few of the Ford comparable bits might have a good market over there...1 point

Result on the cycle wing. Ours was an interference fit.....prompted conversion to widetrack as the lack of steering lock to the left would have been comical if it hadn't been so dangerous. Exhaust, yep, looks familiar! To get us going, I made a short bodge piece to bridge that gap then took the car to a local exhaust place where the chap fitted a new section of pipe to the can to make it a one piece fix. nearly there!1 point

Q Ok when you split the engine and gear box you will now be able to just slide the bearing off the input shaft, you shouldn't actually be able to do this. Take the bearing off and look at the sides of the holder, you'll see a recess either side now look at the clutch fork and you'll see the two mounting lugs ( for want of a better description ) on either side of the fork Now the fiddly bit getting the bearing to clip to the fork, IIRC it can only go on one way ( i.e. if it doesn't clip on try turning 180 deg and try again ) it might well take a few attempts but it will locate, once on properly you should be able to push n pull the bearing and fork up & down the input shaft without it coming off M1 point

That makes me so angry. I will certainly be on the lookout and if it turns up anywhere around here will go and recover. Sorry to hear this Steve.1 point

Have you got an itinerary for Orkney? I can give you some tips for places to visit. Don't forget you will have 24hrs of daylight in June to explore. It never gets dark that time of year.1 point

Much better ferry the pentalina. It's run by a guy who's battled against the subsidised ferry to offer a better service to Orkney, so will always be my choice of getting to the islands.1 point

Ok folks thanks to windy option for the ferry crossing gills bay to st Margaret's hope depart 9.30 arrive 10.30 return 07.45 arrive 08.45 cost car with driver £108 or £140 driver and passenger has anyone booked the scrabster one yet or thoughts on this option it's about 15 miles on from scrabster with a quicker crossing check in minimum 60 mins before departure, this route would take us over the Churchill barriers past the Italian chapel and to our accommodation thanks again windy1 point

Why are you doing the scrabster ferry? The Gills bay to St Margaret's hope is a modern catamaran and is a very fast crossing. Also it is excellent value. They have a hydraulic ramp so fine for low cars with poor ground clearance like westies.1 point

Looks like we might bump into you boys - 10 of us booked up for a Highland Fling of our own between 1st and 6th (or maybe 7th) June, mostly based around Ullapool.1 point

Yes I'm looking forward to the new WRC season and seeing how the drivers perform now the dominant VW cars have left. From http://www.wrc.com/ seems BT sport and channel 5 have coverage though likely C5 will be highlights like last year. Always find a lot better action in WRC compared to F1 and I never thought I would say a time trial was better than a race; although F1 is rarely a race nowadays but hopefully new regs. might shake things up. WRC season starts 19 Jan 2017 Monte Carlo rally.1 point
