  2. Judy & I really enjoyed the day out and it was good to catch up with members that we hadn't seen for a while. The drive leaving home at 8:15 required a smooth driving style with ice and frost everywhere and with the garden thermometer showing just -4'c, it was very cold to say the least! After our lunch time fish-n-chips and a visit to a nearby toilet block (new and clean!) in Bridlington, we had a drive through the town centre, fuelled up then headed for home. The drive back home was rather challenging with looking through a dirt splatted windscreen directly into the low setting sun which required one's full attention! Thanks to Robin for organising the drive, it was nice to see Julie & Glenn and Martin & Sue who had driven up from Derbyshire to participate in the drive. Thanks to everyone for your company. Roger

  6. Can't help with discount code but happy to save you £12 on overpriced parking with free advice: Park at NEC as usual but do not pay for your parking on the way in at the pay booths by the car parks Stay all day until the show ends and return to your car - the pay booths will almost certainly be closed or in the process of closing. If so, drive to the car park exit. The attendant at the exit will ask for the payment receipt. Tell him the pay booth was closed. He will ask for cash. Tell him you have no cash, only a debit card (the nearest ATM is a mile away). The attendants don't have card payment machines and you don't have cash - nothing can be done, so they let you go without paying. £12 profit, or £36 if like me you attend a three-day show. Typical NEC organisation.

  7. Yeah, we regularly have MX5's, Elise's, Exige's etc, and the friend of a couple of old club members used to pop along in a track prepped mk2 MR2, oh and we occasionally have a coup,e of bikes too! With certain, pretty rare exceptions - and it's usually 'cause we're guests at a show somewhere and they want us to be an exhibit, all are welcome at meets and runs out, it doesn't matter what you drive*, we're all petrolheads at heart. *though members need to use their judgment on runs out! we don't go ballistic, but it wouldn't be much fun following in a shopping trolley hatchback, either!!

  10. When I looked out of the window at 7 o'clock this morning I thought "That looks a bit cold, should I stop in bed?" But I couldn't let you all down. So after scraping the ice off my wife's KA, I got the Westfield out and went for some fuel. Picked my Brother-in-law up and headed for the Fox and Grapes. Julie, Glen. Martin and Sue were waiting as Marcus and brother Axel pulled in in front of us, Roger, Judy and Geoffery joined us and made 6 cars, not a bad turn out for a cold, frosty morning. The pub had kindly opened up so in we went for a coffee before setting off. Instead of hitting the A64 straight away, we headed through Barwick and into Garforth for a fuel stop at Tesco, then on passed the Battle of Towton and joining York road at Tadcaster where traffic started to get heavy, luckily for us most cars turned off for the Designer Outlet sales leaving us to hit the A166 through Stamford Bridge. We ended up following probably the most law abiding Volvo in the world, but I decided not to try to pass as it would be easier to keep the 6 cars together on the winding roads. The Volvo nearly stopped at the bottom of Garrowby Hill, but the surprised us all by passing an even slower moving van, that didn't slow us down, as we needed an unscheduled toilet stop before we hit Bridlington. Driving towards the seafront and it was busier than I was expecting and I was thinking we wouldn't get parked together, but then I saw an open space of about 8 places, so I grabbed them and we all got parked together. Some then disappeared to the nearest loo, and some to the fish shop. After some food Geoffery led us through his old stomping ground and to the petrol station. We all filled up and headed our separate ways home, me and Marcus retracing our route. Heading home we were driving straight into the sun, and the wipers were just smearing the road muck all over the 'sceen, so visibility wasn't too good but we made it home. My camera keeps eating batteries, so I only managed to get a couple of photos, so here they are, And thanks to all who came today.

  11. May I take this opportunity to wish you all a very merry Christmas! I hope Santa has brought you many nice things as I'm sure you've all been good boys and girls (or as good as you're capable of being!). Just getting ready for the onslaught of guests we have coming to fill the house, and to give our tummies and livers a workout! Whatever you do today and however you do it, enjoy the day and thanks for being a part of our huge extended dysfunctional family!
