  1. So are we ready for tomorrow folks? After 2pm it's forum cold turkey for a bit. Maybe 48hrs downtime while we switch to the new software. It's a total rewrite by the forum vendors and will be a right royal pita to move everything over so bear with us while we (well, mostly Adrian) move it all over. It's going to be good though!

  2. True! Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus, and he's bringing a super simple way to add photos to your posts, including from your phone or tablet, without resorting to external photo sharing sites. I kid you not. This is what being prudent with club funds so we can buy a new heavy duty server all to ourselves can provide. Your wait is almost over...

  3. Swear filter appears to have let the title through unscathed so i'll write it again Caterham(s), but even so i kept this in the Stuff and Nonsense folder. I went along to Donington Park today as there was a track day organised by the Midlands Caterham Centre (Bookatrack) which is on-site, but also it was their open day with grub etc. Unfortunately i wasn't successful in reserving a passenger seat in the 620r on track driven by a Caterham driver, which was a shame, but I did manage to get a drive in a 320r and a 160s, now I'm sure you all know that the number is BHP/ton, the 320 was good, but to be honest nothing different to driving my previous Duratec Wetsfield. The 160 however was an absolute hoot, a tiny car even smaller than a non SV Caterham with a 80 bhp, 3 cylinder turbo engine that tried it's best to sound like a flat 6 porsche engine. Now don't get me wrong, it wasn't fast, the gear ratio's were abysmal but the actual dynamics were brilliant, I haven't had as much fun going slowly since my first "car" which was a mini van. I was actually very impressed with it, but would I buy one (even if i could afford nearly £20k for a used one) hell yes! I also enjoyed having a windscreen and doors, conversation was easy, buffeting minimal, maybe it is time to get another scuttle for mine make them quick change so I can have both options. Ian PS sorry for talking about Caterhams. PPS when discussing Westfields with other people their the reactions were positive, not condescending at all.

  8. There is a load of toys in the new forum. Its a complete ground up rewrite by the authors. However its a proper PIA to do the upgrade. Also all the hours on the test forum , still needs re-creating on the live. I guess im just saying bear with me on this one.....

  9. I do so few miles on the Daily Mondeo that I left them on all year. They did wear a bit faster than expected. As to if they make a difference? I would say so. Two years back when we had some snow round here, I followed an Audi A6 Quattro up the hill out the back of Willersley. He didn't make it up the hill, I did. So I would say they are worth it. And others have commented, definitely much better on streaming wet roads

  10. I bought a set of these, plus new Nylock nuts: "1/2" x 1/2" ROSE JOINT Ultra High Performance Male RH Rod End McGill Motorsports" Note, that I think I recall someone saying you can now get the joints in a 7/16" throat, that way you don't need the reducer sleeves...

  11. Don't forget those are just the potential plugs to eventually pull mounds off, too. Assuming they still like them by the time that point rolls round, which on past performance.... I did like the idea of Lycra reinforced plastic though, great idea for providing a base to joint components when producing a plug. I suppose you could use it on the final part too, if you wanted. Just flip it over and add mat of your choice to the reverse side for structural strength and loose the aluminum joiners. Mind you, just think what they could do if they had you doing the electronics when they get to that stage

  12. Good news for those of us with iPads and iPhones - you will be able to do full text editing in the new version, so underlining, bold, italic, fonts and font sizes and colours, emoticons, the works. Adding YouTube vids to posts also ultra simple.
