  3. After our run out today I decided to pop the new Protec Dampers on the rear thats been sitting in the garage for months! They went on really easy so with a bit of time on my hands and the boot box out, I thought, lets strip out the fuel sender and have a look.............well getting it out is easy..........putting it back in was a bit of a task. If Dr Rubic had marketed this instead of the cube it would have been a tougher puzzle!!! Im not sure of it was either the hole not quite big enough from the original build, or me just not seeing an easier way. The final outcome seems to be that it now reads a bit better, lets see what happens when I next fillet up. Next job, radiator swap.

  5. I plugged it into the loom rather than running the cable along the chassis upper rail on mine.

  6. OK, the Sony's have a good reputation I seem to remember, though I suspect you might not get quite as much technique type info from the manuals as some of the Canon, Nikon etc manuals, not to worry though, it's no biggie! As I say, exposure is the first thing to probably start trying to get to grips with, Pete's suggestion of starting with the AppStore is a good one. I've not read a photographic "how to" for years, so wouldn't know what the current crop are like, but as Pete said, google a bit! Practically every other topic seems to have loads of YouTube "how to's", I dare say photography is the same. The other thing to look into is framing and composition. This is perhaps on of the trickier areas in certain ways, as it's probably the biggest area where technique and artistic talent meet! It's also an area where there's no substitute for taking lots of photos and for looking at lots of photos, as somewhere between the two you start getting your "eye in" and being able to see the shot that you'll take a photo of with your naked eye when you look at a view in front of you.

  7. The newer kits use a speed sensor on the front wheel (or at least mine did). There was a connection for a rear sensor on the loom but I did not use it. The sensor should be with the speedo.

  9. Isn't that one the friendly Caterham driver as opposed to the slick shod one that didn't seem to like letting people past? The instructor told me just to nail it on the straights anyway and ignore 'consent'.

  11. What camera is it - the standard manuals for many aren't too bad nowadays, though sometimes you can get a small paperback sized version written independently of the manufacturer, they're often better still as they will explain various techniques while referring to your model of camera. In particular, on the technical side, the things to get your head around are the exposure controls and the focusing side of things. Knowing how you're camera model tries to deal with these will help you take control yourself. The beauty with digital cameras is the instant feedback, so you can have a play with different modes and see immediately what effect they will have.

  12. Just had a quick look at your trial photos and looking good. Always try and have the light behind you, vary the height you take the picture from and if you look at clegg's photos you will see that sometimes less car is more. Finally try tilting the camera 45'.

  14. So....I'm very much looking forward to next weekend, and it will be my first visit to Anglesey. I'm coming up from the 'deep south' in the motorhome on Friday afternoon; are there any top tips from seasoned visitors in relation to logistics etc? I missed out on a garage, but beyond that is there anything particular/peculiar to the venue/facilities/journey that it would handy to be aware of? Thanks in advance. Simon

  18. Unless that car was stationary, engine off, when someone dropped a Morris Marina on it... That's crazy money though, no way is there kit worth £4500 SECOND HAND left on that car, that doesn't have huge question marks over its condition. The cooling system and possibly oil system will have been damaged in the crash, which can cause long term engine issues, but that's almost irrelevant when the engine itself has received a major impact in at least one position, significant enough to open the engine internals up to the outside; what debris got driven into the open head, was it still turning at the time, for how long after the initial engine damage did it run? What caused it to stop? At the moment, you're paying a lot of money for some AP callipers and disks plus a stack rev counter. The drivers harness is scrap after such an impact, the seats, drivers side at least, will have had huge forces through it from restraining the driver in a severe deceleration. I wouldn't trust the structural integrity of the grp, or where the mounts attach. (Plus you'll never get the poo stains out!!). Given the rest of the damage, I'd be staggered if more than one or two wheels are OK, tyres, equally, at best may be badly flatspotted, or may have physical damage. You might get a diff and a gearbox out of it intact. But that's a catastrophic amount of damage, though I do wonder if maybe it's been made to look worse either during recovery, or if the emergency services had to cut the driver out.

  20. No don't fit a turbo or supercharger. Every time I add a dollop of power they stick another chicane in. If you start it'll be a slalom next year

  21. We went to Rufford Country Park, just around the corner. Glen and I had visited here a few weeks earlier and I thought it looked a good place for the cars to be photographed but I could not get anyone from Nottinghamshire County Council to respond to my request. So I just thought that I would just wing it on the day, and......result. Not this picture, silly Firstly we were escorted down Lime Avenue towards the Abbey ruins Then we were allowed to take the photo's before being escorted back to the car park We enjoyed our lunch sitting outside the cafe in the courtyard before walking around the sculptures. There is also a lake that makes a nice walk round and some craft shops. Chris now has some photo's to submit for the calendar, along with the excellent ones that Mo has on her phone. Email them to editor@wscc.co.uk pleeease. Thank you to everyone for making today great. Next Sunday the TVR's are coming to Chatsworth, so guess where we will be. When I get some idea of the weather I will do a post. Also, we might be meeting on Monday if the weather is OK, strange I know but needs must. Look in the Events section and keep looking, it's all on the weather.
