  1. Know your rights. I guarantee you the person behind the counter doesn't and believes the "company policy" nonsense. http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/regulation/consumer-rights-act It is up to the RETAILER to deal with your faulty goods, NOT the manufacturer. Go back. Stand your ground. Have the law handy...

  2. Just finished an exhibition at the NEC tonight, absolutely shattered. Setup on Saturday and Monday, followed by three days of hard work and two nights of heavily delayed trips home. So when the exhibition closed this afternoon and we were breaking down the stand, humour and patience were at a minimum - well, zero actually. I had a two wheel trolley to move things outside, which I began doing without issue. I then tried getting back in to the hall when the security nazi (a word I do not use lightly) stopped me. "You can't bring that in." "Why not? I just took it out!" "It's not allowed." "Are you insane? How is it going out fully loaded allowed and not allowed back in empty 2 minutes later?" "Those are the rules." "My stuff is in there. My car keys are in there. What the fark am I supposed to do?" "Not my problem." "It's a farking two-wheel trolley, not an artic! What's your farking issue, jobsworth?" "I'm only following the rules." "Well Einstein, I'm not moving and will block this exit until I get in with my trolley. Any ideas?" "You can carry it in." "You are joking." "Nope." So I picked it up, carried it in six foot, and set it back down and started wheeling it again. Now another nazi comes near me to tell me off. He starts to tell me off and I lose it. "Don't you say a farking thing to me, jobsworth, NOT A FARKING THING. I'm exhausted and I'm heading out towards a different exit and collecting my stuff on the way out, so I'm following your idiotic, stupid, pointless rules, you hi-vis robot, and don't you DARE try to stop me." He didn't. I collected my stuff and went out the same exit. When I got there, I stopped, took the stuff off the trolley, took it outside and left it, came back in, picked up my trolley and carried it six foot out the door and set it back down, then turned and gave the security nazi my pass and a V-sign and invited him to report me. I hope he does, but the stupid git probably won't so I won't the get the satisfaction of ripping his boss a new one.

  4. And lets not forget that retailers are obliged to recognise your rights under the act. Most of them will have a sign that states company returns policy. That sign ALWAYS has the rider "this does not affect your statutory rights". Well the Consumer Rights Act 2015 is the statutory rights they are talking about. Doesn't matter that they asked you to leave. You were RIGHTLY and JUSTIFIABLY angry at the store deliberately ignoring (at best) or were ignorant of (at worst) your rights as a consumer. Any reasonable person would be angry under those circumstances. Get back in there, get hold of the manager (metaphorically speaking) and state your case.

  7. You handed your money to the retailer. All your consumer rights are with them. Regardless of what the t&c's between retailer and the manufacturer are. Sometimes it's worth talking to the manufacture because they won't be impressed with the customer service or the fact your unhappy with a product with there brand on. They might make you an act of good will offer. In the past I've lost my cool and prospective with customer service trying to force my point of view and the facts as I see it. Now my tact has changed get the customer service person on your side. If they are unable to make a decision they are more likely to refer it up positively and your more likely to get The right out come quicker. Also let them know what you want. That's true for any complaint. If makes it easy for the person to satisfy you. On a more happy note... Several years back First thing in the morning I bought a 9" angle grinder from homebase to cut a car up. At the first bit of load it shredded it's gearbox... They gave me a new one... By the afternoon having been more sympathetic I was nearly done and thought!!! I wonder if the gearboxes are weak or was it a fault on the last one. A little more load and the gearbox was fine but the motor changed tone, smoked and died. The same nice lady that afternoon did not offer a replacement simply asked for my card to credit me... 11. You have every right to expect an immediate refund , from an item that failed to work . Just one word of warning, is that whatever you buy from B&Q , some manufacturers can reject a claim, as goods from B&Q are 'mostly' a domestic tool etc, however they advertise their buisness. If at anytime they note it is for commercial venture, then they could reject it. We supply our engineers small power washers for air conditioning work and they prefer the domestic versions for portability and usually get them from B&Q . Karcher have been good when we send them to them for repairs , but dont do it for free as we use them for buisness and taking them back to B&Q usually gets a cold stare. Bosch may make tools for B&Q , but the life wont be as good as a Stihl etc from a proper shop, but obviously there is a cost perspective in this.

  12. Under the Consumer Rights Act you have a legal right to reject goods that are unsatisfactory quality, unfit for purpose or not as described, and get a full refund - as long as you do this quickly (30 days) Your claim is aganst the retailer, not the manufacturer. Go back to the store, speak to the manager, tell him you reject the goods and want a full refund. Tell him if you don't have a refund or working replacement within 7 days then you will seek legal advice and will seek to recover the cost of that advice from them. Tell them to stick 'company policy' in an uncomfortable place, and quote them 'the consumer rights act 2015'

  13. Maurici We not have any definitive information from the MSA about the tyres that will be on list 1B in 2017 but there was a rumour that the EU regs would affect some of the tyres that had got through onto the 2016 list The Toyo 888 compound gg were mentioned to me by BMTR but that could be because they lost out with the ZZRs and are trying to sell the ZZS instead. We will just have to wait and see what happens in the next few months

  15. Yes, trailer is on the horizon, for long range 'events' and hopefully more track days next season - only problem I have is no tow bar and current car is contract hired with a year to run. So thinking of getting a vehicle that I can kip in and tow with (like a Bongo or T4/5) - but that will mean 3x vehicles to tax/insure/etc. So, we'll see!

  16. As a follow up, all three nights when I tried to leave the overpriced £12 per visit car park, the pay stations were closed so I couldn't pay. Nothing for it, so on the first night I drove to the exit barrier to pay. "Ticket please." "I wasn't able to pay, the pay station is closed." "We only take cash." "I've only got a debit card - any suggestions?" "Go get some cash." "How? There isn't a cash point within a mile of here." Deep thought. "On your way then, you can pay tomorrow." Needless to say, I saved myself £36 in car parking charges. What great organisation.
