  1. You might like it so much, you end up living in it - I did (maybe a bit too large for your needs though)

  2. Even Terry Everall has bought one now and he's from Yorkshire :-) My wife and I have had several now over the years and started off with simple van conversions for the first 2 before upgrading to coachbuilt versions The main points as I see it are:- B&B is cheaper but over several weekends away in season can affect cash flow where as a long term purchase of a motorhome is usually done on long term finance making the cost bearable. Once the good lady of the house wants to start coming away with you, the standard of the décor needs to be substantially improved from that just for a bloke :-) Unless buying a brand new one, depreciation is low on a motorhome if cared for properly Unless it small enough to use for everyday use, its another vehicle to tax / insure / park up on driveway etc If towing with it, you need to be careful on the towing weight capacity and also the fitment of the towbar (not all rear ends of motorhomes are structurally upto the job of fitting one without a lot of work and expense) Having your own creature comforts whilst away has lots of advantages Also double as holiday accommodation but usually means restricted to UK or Europe (not a problem to us) Economically they defy logic but their advantages make them worthwhile IMO. I cant see us being without one for a good few years now

  6. People who create specifications and not only omit any form of version control, but include an auto-update date that shows the date you opened the spec. Feel better now. Anyone else need to release some pent up annoyance today!

  9. We went for a day out at Beamish Living Museum. This is a fantastic place to spend the day. Word of warning though. The carpark is all stone and dust so if you go in your Westfield, you need to cover the cockpit otherwise it will be full of dust on your return. Here is a video of our day. Sorry its a bit long but there is so much to see.

  11. Screens have either square section frame (older) or a 'U' section (newer) with the pillars being shaped to match. The original pillars from my old narrow also had a different scuttle curve profile to the later black ones that I fitted; the later version being more curved where they sit on the scuttle (possibly from a wide). I made them fit but it was less than ideal. Geoff

  15. Ah, I see your rookie mistake now, what he should have said was pick a budget and double it, but only admit to having 3/4 of what you plan to spend, as we'll spend the rest for you anyway

  18. What a fantastic past few hours. I met with Neptune who has travelled up for tomorrows run. We met on the sea front and had coffees and the cars were the centre of attention. From here we went for a pose through Scarborough with more pictures and various comments shouted at us...all good ones. Up to Olivers Mount for a drive round the hill climb and motorcycle circuit. Next it was down to the mere where we watched about 50 swans all feeding. Water was so calm and the most beautiful blue. Back down the sea front for lemon top ice-creams and the cars caused a lot of interest when parked up. Then we parked on the harbour. Again loads of interest in the cars. One woman of around 70 got in Buttercup behind the wheel. She had the harness on, my glasses and my hat. I even got a kiss from here at the end. . We have had children sat in the cars, families asking us questions and loads of pictures. Weather is really sunny, sky and sea are blue and great company.....what is better than that.

  19. Have a look at a Mazda Bongo Chris, they are a great start to this type of thing. You don;t have to go for the fully kitted out ones, tow pretty well and convert to a bed at night. Have a look on eBay, I had a very basic one which worked great, couple of people up top and 2 down below. No sink or cooker fitted, just drive down the local pub for that. Then take a camping stove etc for meals. Did me really well for 3 years
