  1. Part of my old Saturday routine was to do the weekly shop for my mum, every Saturday morning. If it was dry, great top down, pick up shopping, have a blast over the cat and fiddle, if it was wet, leave the top up go shopping, blat over C&F! Currently sat in my sisters lounge in Harrogate, took six hours to drive up here yesterday, as I took the Westfield up through the lakes then back across over the Buttertubs Pass etc. Going to go and have a look at the Ripon Classic car thing in a bit, then back home in the rain You can use them if you want to!

  3. Martyn and Sue, Russ, Gareth and Luke met us at McD's, there were all sorts of unusual cars everywhere, both driving past and coming and going through the car park. It was like being in a surreal world where everyone has a nice car. We followed Luke who took us a different way to the show, one that avoided the speed bumps, that is a very low positioned car, Luke. Alan soon came along with Thundernuts. There were 3 fields of cars to look at as well as an autojumble. There was a vast variety of cars and bikes, even an army tank and a classic bus. It was a good venue to catch up with everyone and of course there was lots of excited chattering about Silverstone next weekend. Everyone left as they needed to, except Martyn and Sue, so we decided to have a pose through Matlock Bath and go for a little photo shoot at Crich Stand, where they just also happen to sell tea and cake's. The view from the top of the stand. Zoom in and you can see the cars Thank you to everyone for coming and see you next weekend at Silverstone.

  4. Our Essex car engined cars are all under 650kg... http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic/119520-essex-area-weight-watchers-round-3-10th-july-2016/page-5#entry1265959

  5. Hi All, Did a bit of work on the seight the other night which necessitated removing the nose cone, I found that the radiator is mounted to the cone and not the chassis, i.e take the cone off and the radiator comes with it. I doubt this is the best solution (although it appears to work fine) due to the weight etc and I think it was done when a past owner fitted a higher spec rad. I'll probably look at mounting it "properly" over the winter but wondered if anyone has any thoughts or pointers? Are there brackets etc available? or is it a fabrication job? I have no detail about the rad other than "high capacity alloy" which isn't a lot to go on I know. Comments and particularly photo's would be much appreciated. Cheers

  6. I'll be in my caravan on an electric hookup pitch, they are a bit more regimented to suit where the hookup points are. We should arrive early afternoon on Thursday, I'll bring along the old out of date Manchester area banner, so if you see it come and say hello.

  8. Back home again now, the quick route, mainly motorway from Leeds. Rained a little on the motorway, but it was ok, as traffic was flowing well, so most of the rain just went over the top of the cockpit. Got heavier, both the traffic and rain at Rochdale, so as roadworks looked like it might cause some slow queueing, stopped at the services and put the hood up, did the last hour home like that, in the drizzle for a bit before it dried. It was fine. I'm reasonably dry, no wet patches, thanks to ear plugs, my ears aren't ringing! And it was a great weekend, made far greater by having a Westfield as part of it. Oh and saw three Westfields at the Rippon Classics show, but couldn't see the owners.

  10. Thanks for the offer! With the help of this forum I was able to find one in the USA. The only car it was used on here was the 1997-2001 Cadillac Catera but I found a place that had the part and I'll have it on Tuesday. Thanks again for the generous offer - i'd still like to buy you that beer. dave

  13. They're cheap cars to have sat in the garage too. I enjoy the spanner time which can't be said for the other cars in the fleet. I enjoy the upgrades and seeing the effect they have. Whilst the westfield doesn't get driven an awful lot it can still keep me entertained. And occupied at work planning the next upgrades...

  14. I can vouch for the authenticity of this engine, cos' i unwrapped it, lifted it off the pallet and removed the sump, oh yeah and covered Terry's garage floor with oil.

  15. THIS! I got fed up with my first Westy (stripped out sprint car with aeroscreen screen). Tried a 'normal' toy car for a while and then concluded that sometimes less is more! Went back to a Westy with modest power and screen etc and used it 10 times as much as my first one. Sadly it is no more and I still miss it. Having said that, I've moved on to a caterham with similar power which is quicker as it's lighter and starting to really enjoy it now that I've got my seating position sorted. I've used my caterham more in the last month than I used my first sprint car in 3 years of ownership! Dave

  16. I just had to up my policy from 5000 miles a year to 7500 as I have done 4500 since April and it's a 500 mile round trip to silverstone next week. Loving it!
