  1. The thing is though, Westfields aren't transport, they're a hobby. So as long as they fulfil your requirements as a hobby, be it racing, driving, polishing or tinkering, it doesn't matter, they work for you.

  6. Stay with the plated but rocking horse springs to mind and you will problem have to get it overhauled which adds to the cost.

  7. Tim, I could well be interested in two or more Toyos if and when you do split them. I have to check my sizes to be sure.

  8. Off to visit my sister up in Harogate for the weekend tomorrow, and unless it's absolutely lashing it down, I plan on heading up the M6 in the Westfield, to Tebay, before turning off and taking a run over via the Buttertubs pass to Harogate the long way. Just cause I've always fancied doing some of those roads in the Westfield. And if the weather's not too bad, might go to the classic car show in Ripon on the Sunday. Then there's Silverstone next weekend... I used to do the whole stripped out, carpet less, heaterless, aeroscreened, R888 shod, fire breathing XE powered, straight cut gearboxed car thing. And I used the car quite a bit. Then I put a windscreen, heater and weather gear on it and just kept using it more and more, to the point where the SC box and raw ness of the engine were damaging my hearing, then I swapped to the Honda car, which has no pretensions to be anything other than a fast road going Westfield.

  10. I have to say I get more pleasure upgrading and tinkering with the car than driving . When I go for a blat I have to be in the right mood . However a day in the garage cleaning and improving always gives enjoyment

  11. 9,000 miles in 20 years! and every one was glorious, I took it for its MOT this morning. The rose joints on the anti roll bar are as slack as when I bought them, and there's a bit of smoke on cold start, but sh!t does it go. My only complaint is that the dashboard/mirrors etc are like a Fisher Price Activity Center, and attract small children.

  12. I just had to up my policy from 5000 miles a year to 7500 as I have done 4500 since April and it's a 500 mile round trip to silverstone next week. Loving it!

  13. It's a controversial point I know, (not saying it's the case for the thread starter, either). But I have noticed over the years so many cars starting out heavily used, and then getting more and more heavily upgraded, till in the end they become so focussed/hardcore that they just don't get used any more. Whether it's because they become too scary to use on the road or just too uncomfortable/hard to drive on the road I don't know. It's funny how often you see the process repeated though.

  16. I've done 10000 miles in 18 years... But I could never think of selling. For me, it's an argument where the heart will always win over the head- but I've been lucky enough to be able to afford to keep the money locked up in it. So I'd say keep it unless you really need the cash from selling!
