  2. Check these out carefully! No methanol on forced induction cars bans the current cars used by future champion Will Hall, and also Nick Algars Busa. They say excess horsepower is the problem!!!! Who the hell writes this sh**. Are they BLIND? The future engines of choice are going to be forced induction, just look at the road cars being developed. Why ban a fuel for creating too much power? Next they will ban forced induction, then put a speed limit on events.... Glad I don't have Will Halls car as should this ridiculous regulation get in then his car is worthless! Rant over for now, but I have only read two of the proposed changes and I think the first might affect a lot of libre cars too

  4. Hi all I'm introducing myself since re joining after a 13 year break! I originally joined in 1999 when aged 21 I bought my 1800 Zetec kit. I completed and SVA'd this in 2001 and then sold it in 2003 to buy our first house. The car is still with that owner in Northern Ireland. Since then I've married, had 3 boys, built our house and most importantly the Garage. I've been browsing this site for a few months catching up with the changes and current specs etc. The itch has returned and I've scratched it!! Last week an seiw appeared on a well known auction site that was an un started build. It had navy bodywork, detachable arches, cycle wings, V8 bonnet, ducted nose, locking boot lid, aluminium uprights, front and rear brakes and lots of smaller items at a price I could not resist. After a trip to Cheshire this is now safely in Cornwall ready for building. On our way home me and my son popped into the factory to have a look and find out what engine and gearbox combo would be best. After speaking to Mark it was decided that a 2.0 Zetec with type 9 would be most suitable. I must say the factory was a shadow of my first visit in 1999! Very quite. Any way enough rambling the build will shortly commence, with pictures assisted by my 3 apprentice's who are very excited. No doubt questions will be posted which judging by what I've seen will be easily answered. I can't wait to start and sit behind the wheel once more even the wife seems happy!! John

  5. Agree that it was a very poor "car test" and can't even see why they called it that - but both my other half and I found it an entertaining watch and we both enjoyed it. Really warming to Matt as a presenter and he is the saving grace of that duo as I still think Chris is a bit annoying, but on the whole I thought it was better than last week and I will be tuning in again. It's a entertainment show with cars now, not an entertaining car show.

  12. I Think you are right Dave. A simple solution in that case could be a wireless bicycle speedo - they are cheap and easy to try out by affixing a magnet to somewhere suitable. I actually bought a wired one just for the sender and use that with a tiny magnet on a drive shaft along with with a std VDO speedo - works a treat. Probably not much use at night, but for under £10 at Lidl/Aldi it's worth a punt! ETA - found a backlit one too - OK might not go over 99mph/kph but will do the job at 30 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Suaoki-Transmission-Speedometer-Backlight-Resistant/dp/B01AVQY74W/ref=pd_sim_sbs_200_6?ie=UTF8&dpID=41flJSvTrbL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=T3KQYHP7AMH7KM2802N1

  13. Have we all missed the OP's question? From the sound of it, his speedo is working fine, but the display is one of those tiny lcd read outs at the bottom of the Rev counter, and if I read it correctly, he's saying that it's frequently obstructed by the Rev counters needle as it sweeps round. All he wants is advice on a basic secondary speedo he can fix where he can see it... (Sorry, no experiance of the bike type speedos myself)
