A lovely summery night last night, a great chance for a run out through some of the (mainly) quieter Cheshire lanes, though apologies to Mark and Mark who got separated in one of the little bits of traffic to be a pain. Still, having two more Honda powered cars plus Jon's simply awesome AJ8 monster in convoy behind me, I just couldn't help myself, a quick divert through Alderly Edge and skirting Wilmslow had us on the road to the airport tunnels. I could almost feel the anticipation on of dropping gears behind me as one by one everyone realised where we were. I wasn't disappointed either. I slowed right off and moved over, while Phil (S2000 Jenveys) shot past like some kind of angry, prehistoric wasp on steroids, closely followed by the enraged T Rex that Jon was piloting. (Complete with flames as he lifted after passing me!) Ian's S2000 finished the line up sounding far meaner than anything with such a pink and fluffy looking nose has any right to! After that it seemed only right to boot it in second and catch up... The Whipping Stocks has recently been adopted by a Ferrari owners club, so as we returned, we got, once more, to park in and amongst some lovely looking exotica.2 points

Technically Yes... but morally (if we are talking the free trial) No... The club is run for all the members benefits and I would hope the prospective member has a pause to think about their actions....2 points

Bob and Lorna Kev, Kyle van****, Jamie "Have you seen my hawk" and Alan Deano Matt & Hannah Campbell (very much depending on engine rebuild cost :-( ) John and Caitlin (Daughter Number 3) Rab Jim & Jean Gary Dave Angus Alastair bl**dy Swedish pile of crap should be sorted, so now can't wait for another Applecross and I think I've persuaded Alastair to come in the J15, but wouldn't be surprised if he takes the Kombi.1 point

I hope Bob brings some of that sunshine to Applecross in 2 weeks time. Any photos from today?1 point

As a rough guide, for a generic engine/FI system, starting from the back you have to: Either swap to an injection tank, or have an existing one modified. Of course in reality this means removing the boot box, M possibly removing roll bar, then much cursing as you work through a small opening in the back of the car! Is there an anti roll bar in the way? Swap fuel pump for an injection pump. Add a return fuel line from the engine bay to the tank. Find a location for your new ecu. Wire in its loom, adopting existing connections to fuel pump, when you've found them in the fuse box, extending if necessary.run sensor connections around engine bay to appropriate spots for the new sensors required by injection system. Work out how rev counter has previously been wired in and rewire it into the new ecu loom. All this wiring may, in the worst case, require removing the scuttle, if the ecu is to be located in the dry, interior of the car. Does your existing engine have a usable trigger wheel? If not a means of attaching a trigger wheel and crank sensor must be engineered. Remove existing ignition components, fuel pressure regulator and carbs. Fit new throttle bodies. Note, if you have a "wet manifold", (ie, water from the cooling system flows through it, or part of it), then you'll also need to part drain, then refil and bleed the cooling system. Fit the ecu's water temperature sender. This may require a hole drilling and tapping somewhere suitable, or and adaptor fitting plumbing into a hose. Wire in to ecu loom. If it doesn't come fitted, fit TPS to throttle bodies, fit fuel rail, injectors and injection fuel pressure regulator, plumb in to the send and return lines. Fit air temp sender and connect to ecu loom. Fit air filter. Reconnect, or often replace throttle cable, fit new linkage if required. Hopefully no inlet manifold studs snapped, nuts got rounded or whatever during this, but it happens! But with the mechanical, electrical and fuel side installed, everything can now be checked and powered up, before installing the base map and testing. That all the sensors are working correctly. Initial TPS and butterfly settings on the ITB will vary, but must now be done, prior to the first start. After a rough first start, and leak check, it is typical, with the engine running temporal at a rough fast idle to balance the individual butterfly's, so that each barrel is drawing the same amount of air. Depending how good the base map is, the engine should now be able to idle at normal speed. (Or slightly fast if the map is only approximate). After another check for leaks, and to make sure that everything was working properly, it's on to mapping....1 point

Had a fantastic trip making new friends. Had some epic moments, especially running off with peoples keys etc, wasn't delibrate but made for some excuses for a bit of banta. The sights were amazing & thanks to Geoffrey for the amazing runs out. Thanks to Carole for adopting my Claire & keeping her entertained. Tom & Seonad for being great partners in crime (the keys moment will stick with me for years lol). Bob for some great stories & the sound if the Megablade. Hope the rest of the journey is as good for you all.1 point

I think there are a few ecu mapping places in Leicestershire but don't know if they just stick to tin tops. I have come across Noble Motorsport in the past (Chesterfield) who have a good reputation http://www.noblemotorservices.co.uk/ Finkangel - did that cost much? I've read that just about every 16v engine should have at least 4 progression holes and I'm thinking that could explain why my C20XE splutters so much at that opening point unless I floor it ! Apparently what we need is the DCOE 152G but I suspect we've all got the standard 152's. I'm also liking the sound of a DanST setup with GSXR TB's so may do some secret planning for another winter upgrade1 point

Hi all, Has anyone a (standard) exhaust heat guard/IVA sharp edges protector they are looking to part with? Looking for it for IVA, happy to pay the going rate Cheers Andy1 point

I have no idea if mine is a pre lit or not. Its a narrow body SE but has fibre glass body. Do I meet the criteria?1 point

I’m just catching up after the weekend at Crystal Palace and I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who came and spoke to me on my stand; so many questions and visitors, and a very enjoyable 2 days spreading the word about Formula IV racing. A few of the highlights for me were a couple of the conversations I had with people who had watched the races back in the 1960’s and seen the cars on display at the Motorsports Show in 1966. Also the amount of people (both children and adults) that were posing by the car for photos, and finally it was fun doing a short interview piece for the race commentary. Here’s a couple of photos1 point

Today is now over. Sat on the Isle of Skye watching all the mist forming over the Cullin Hills. Sunshine all day but cooler. Travelled from Glencoe to Applecross and then to Skye. Left the hotel with very little breakfast as I sent mine back.... It was terrible. Really disappointed with the hotel this year. Applecross is amazing to drive too and I know fully understand why people rave about it. The roads are certainly entertaining to drive and the hairpin bends are brilliant. Ziplob has them off to a "T". Mind you though I did hear some effing and blinding when Bob pulled into a passing place to let cars pass that were coming down the hill and a BMW driver just ignored Bob and shot up the hill and ignored the passing points. Fantastic views of Skye from the top but how the weather changed just for going up a few hundred feet. Great food at the Applecross Inn and if you like fish and lobster etc then its the place to go. It was really busy and judging by the quality of the food, I am not surprised. Whilst we were outside we watched 3 Euro-fighters fly over in formation. Bob said he had organised the flypast for us. Bob and Lorna kept us entertained with some great stories and we really enjoyed their company. I had to do another running repair today as I lost a bolt from my luggage rack but a bungee cord and zip ties worked a treat until Bob and Lorna took us to a garage they know and they gave me a bolt and some washers. Tomorrow we are going around the north of Skye so looking forward to that and lets hope the weather continues. After these past few days with no rain, and also travelling with the friends we have made over the past few days, I am already looking forward to my next trip. Tata for now.1 point

Consider it done Thanks, I was pleased with the result, although I will be even happier when it is all working and I can go for a drive! I plan to use the black button to operate the lap/acceleration timer on the digidash, but not quite sure how its input works as it has three connections on the digidash loom.1 point
