This is a two way street. I travel much of Europe and the USA as my company sells expertise (wins contracts) all over Europe and beyond. I can't see that CONTROLLING this would have any impact on where I go to work because the UK needs to rely on importing different skill sets in the same way. Trade deals will be quickly established along sensible lines. Trade includes the trade in skills not just goods. Lets please not confuse CONTROL with BAN. Lets imagine we vote out. Lets imagine we control what we buy and sell to Germany as an example. Germany wants to sell us cars and home/white goods (Mercs, Beemers, Audi's, Porsche's VeeDubs, Bosch white goods and power tools, BASF chemicals, the list goes on...). We want to sell "skills" to Germany. We say "sell us all the cars/white goods/drills/chemicals you want in exactly the same way and at exactly the same costs as before and we'll let your citizens come and go as they please EXCEPT for work or residence". In return we'd like to sell our goods to you and you continue to allow our citizens to travel to and through Germany without visa's as we do now EXCEPT for work or residence" Would they REALLY say no to a perfectly reasonable arrangement? And for work? If we did slap a "skills means test" or residency requirements on German migrants, Germany would be free to do the same. They get what they want, we get what we want, which is CONTROL over who is allowed to live and work in our two countries. Control which does not exist now. Those with skills and qualifications that are in demand can continue to ply their trades as they do now.2 points

Maurici, As I see it, getting the control of our borders back is to allow us to search for those with the skills that we need from ANYWHERE in the world. Currently we have an open door policy where any EU passport holder can come to the UK and work/live regardless of their skills, education, etc. As you said the UK will always need to outsource skilled people, nurses, doctors, engineers, etc. the list is endless, but if we leave the EU then at least we have the option to allow the best people for us into the country without discriminating against countries, outside of the EU e.g. India/Australia/Russia, etc. If we do end up with an out vote it will be by no means an overnight change, I would hope the foreign people working in this country now would be treat reasonably as is the British spirit. But all in all I don't think anyone can give any hard and fast answers right now as nobody knows truly what will happen whether we end up staying in or leaving. The worry for me is that there are UNSKILLED persons coming to the UK because of the obvious more attractive lifestyle that the UK can offer and these people are (understandably, no doubt) taking the jobs that could be given to the British people.2 points

Since I bought my car in March, i've suspected that it runs a bit rich, when cold starting it would fire up just fine but idle was rough and about 400 rpm, slowly rising to 750 when hot, although still a tad rough. I wanted to have a health check on the engine and to give me confidence that the rich running (if it was the case) was not causing bore wash, and try to sort the rough idling out. On numerous recommendations and seeing results from other people I contacted NMS, when i described what i wanted they told me they would need the car for 3 days, and refused point blank to give me even a ballpark figure, nor starting price for the work, now call me old fashioned but I like to know what i'm about to spend and giving me an hourly rate that made me wince a bit didn't help, nevertheless i did book it in, but as things panned out i had to cancel due to work commitments. In passing i was chatting at the RV point for the run to Stoneleigh and AP Racing Engines Ltd were mentioned, and only 25 miles from where I live, rather than the 55 to NMS. I phoned them up and chatted to Andrew who sounded to know his stuff and quoted a price between £200-£250 which sounded ok for a mornings work. Roll onto today, car booked in, I arrived early and waited for Andrew who turned up, he explained that he'd had customers just drop cars off at the weekend for him to look at without being booked in so his garage was chockablock. As some were not willing to move under their power I helped Andrew shuffle them around and get mine in. Over a coffee he confirmed what i wanted and also I asked him to de-tune a bit to run on 95 ron fuel as getting super for me involves a drive that uses nearly 2 gallons, that situation is not tenable in the long run. So to start off out with the plugs and a compression test, the results ranged between 175 and 195 psi spread across both banks of cylinders, they were ok. Next was plugs back in, with a recommendation to change them as the external insulators where the caps fit were looking as if they were starting to break down, on start up Andrew commented that there was something amiss with the lumpy tick over, he proceeded to use a stethoscope to listen in the trumpets for mismatch in the TB's, tweaking the balance made a big difference to the running, it became much smoother and the tick over rose to about 900 rpm. The lambda readings were within expected values and remained so across all the consecutive and incremental power runs, so running rich was not a problem. Then came to strapping down and real runs. Andrew raised the speeds incrementally until there was a full power run up to 5500 rpm, where the power had levelled (hard cut off is 6500). Over a few more runs the power outputs were consistent if not earth shattering, with a flat peak of 320-330 bhp and 350 lb ft of torque, there was a bit of tyre slip on the rollers even with the "sticky tyre spray stuff" These figures although I suspect are high for a Westfield are not a lot per litre when you take into account the 5.l displacement, but bearing in mind it makes the engine relatively unstressed and all the power can't be used in the lower 3 gears I was content. Next came retarding the ignition by about 5% over the upper 3/4 of the rev range, Andrew advised that there wasn't much point taking it over the full range as the advance wasn't much anyway, at this point i put the filters back on, the next series of runs up to the cut off gave 300 BHP and 330lb ft torque, which was to be expected as the filters are in dire need of a clean, but more important the power and torque were not "peaky" with about 250 bhp available from 3000 rpm. Overall Andrew was pleased with the results and was grinning like a cheshire cat, he complimented the car and the way it delivered the power which was encouraging to say the least. I went on a test drive, all was good, could I tell the drop in BHP? Well, no, not at all. Taking it home afterwards, i really couldn't tell a difference in performance, but it was more tractable and sounded different, a bit more "barky" which isn't a bad thing as it is fairly quite. I can still provoke wheel spin in 4th as well...... And it used less fuel coming home so maybe it's a bit more efficient, or maybe just the difference in head/tail wind today? So I'm pleased with the service, with Andrew and the car, oh and the price, which was the bottom of the quote range. Andrew led me through the process, explained everything he was doing, and answered my questions fully. As for AP Racing engines, well i would say it is a competently run set up, if you want shiny floors clean enough to eat your dinner off then go somewhere else, despite lack of clinical cleanliness (apart from engine build area) the technology is there. Plus, there are lots of interesting engines in various states of refurbishment/strip down etc, and if you go don't think you will be languishing on the sofa reading a glossy mag, you will be expected to muck in and in doing so be part of the process not just a recipient of the delivered product. This aspect of Brexit isn't a Donald Trump style campaign that's seeking to kick out any non-UK citizens, non whites, non-Christians. There are no plans for an all-encompassing extension to Hadrian's wall. It's more about being able to restrict/control the numbers of people who come into the UK rather than the open door, free-for-all it appears to be. To ease your concerns, I suggest you contact the Out campaigners to ask the question: leave.eu/en/contact-us1 point

Well thats the first 379 miles done. The day started in fog and it was that really wet stuff like rain. Anyway when we got to Middlesborough it cleared and we have had glorious sunshine all day. We were spotted on the A1 by A15CRO and it was well smart to be spotted when we were so far from home. This truck pulled up along side and the horn was tooting and the chap was waving. Not sure who was most excited. Today we met up with Paul and Claire at Darlington and also Tom and Seonad here at Glencoe. Everyone is getting on and they are all a friendly bunch and myself and Carol have enjoyed their company today. The room I booked and paid for in full months ago was double booked. They put us in another room and then tried to turf us out of that one but I said no. WE WERE NOT MOVING. Anyway it was amicably sorted and I was telling the rest of the group over food and then Tom looked a bit sheepish. Turned out he had our room I had originally booked. . On the way, Buttercup dumped some brown liquid over my left leg, just above my ankle. It did not smell of oil and I looked under the bonnet and everything looked clean. I will get it checked out on my return. I also had to carry out a repair. My lights stopped working and this happened last year exactly the same. I had a new light switch installed in Buttercup and this one has now stopped working. It was fine when we called in Maccy D's for a coffee but not when we came out. I had decided this year to carry some tools and bits and bobs and I replaced the light switch with with my two speed heater switch and my lights are now working again. We have all had food and to be honest, it was not very good at all. New owners are in the hotel and it is clear that they are having problems. we are going to find somewhere else to eat tomorrow. I took my drone out tonight to do some filming and "crashed" it on landing..... It did not turn off and flipped over. Its scratched and battered a bit but just needs new blades. As I type, I have my window open and watching the sunset over the loch and its so peaceful. Still birds singing and its a lovely place to be. Bit of a disappointing phone call though as Bollocky Bill cannot join us. I therefore have a spare bed for two night if anyone wants it in Durness. Here is a link to the post. http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic/117931-free-hotel-room-for-1-on-my-scotland-trip-4th-5th-june-in-durness/ Also had some good news though. Ziplob and Lorna are joining us a day earlier so that rounded the day off nicely.1 point

Thanks for the offer Lee, think I'll try a local welder first and see if it's fixable. If not, I'll message you later this week. The original alloy one was leaking when I bought the car and the replacement all steel one has cracked 1/4" from the mounting plate. Reckon they get cracked by constant removal and re fitting of the cam cover, the rubber breather pipe needs a bit of wiggling to get a good seal on the cam cover connector.1 point

As a bit of an opposing post, I also have a Megabusa, weighs in at 490kg, standard engine 175bhp and I do not think it's that quick in a straight line at all to be honest, around the corners it excels, but from 60mph upwards it feels slow to me. Admittedly I am comparing it to my M5 which is 560bhp but it also weighs 4x as much. In my quest for speed I am now looking at fitting a tuned busa engine instead. (220bhp at a push). Busa engines are expensive to buy and tune, and not great to use in traffic either. I would suggest at looking at some car variants before committing. It all depends on whether you're looking to drive along the B-roads or track it. I recently tracked mine and realized what I had been missing out on. I don't have that urge to take it out on the roads anymore.1 point

Foggy start on both Sat and Sunday but once it lifted both were gloriously dry sunny days. The WSCC team did well in the bar and on the hill. Significant amounts of wine were consumed and the team took 4 class wins.1 point

Replies first and stories second. Luke - what's happening Sunday? we are out in the car but there is a 10 mile hike and a big hill in the day, so I can't recommend anyone follow us to the Peak District for that kind of torture. Rickyboy - good choice, the next best thing to being in a Westfield in Bakewell must be to be with the wife, kids and the caravan in Bakewell. You have it all lad. IanK - gutted for you, hope it is a quick fix, keep us posted. Story time - I must just check my wings because I must have died and now be in heaven writing this, all these people in their lovely cars and the weather, oh the weather. We met at Ashbourne where car after car turned up, I was squeaking inside with excitement. With 12 cars in convoy I employed the locals, Alan (Thundernuts) and Ben (Yakatak) to lead from the middle as we were bound to get split up. They did a brilliant job and I thank them very much for helping me. So off we went, posing through Ashbourne, then Matlock Bath before turning up the 'Elton' road. There is never anyone on this road, and the bends are just, well, bendy and nicely hilly, what a joy. Then it was round to join up with the Via Gellia road, which is always good, before turning into the Castle. I had booked a table for 12, thinking 'Julie, you are being a bit optimistic here girl'. There was actually 21 of us, so they had to reset the table and the manageress pulled me to one side and said that they could not cater off the main menu for so many. She suggested that they serve us buffet style sandwiches with chips, followed by lemon tart for £5 a head. I didn't have to think long about how to answer that one! The goat in Jurassic Park comes to mind again, Scott The food was lovely, the service was great and they accommodated our strange parking requirement's, well done Willersley Castle Hotel. Car park? what's one of those then? We met pre-lit Steve and Lauren at the castle, as well as newcomer, Peter in his Morgan and another newcomer Gareth, who I have now instated as the Peak District photographer, wow, you know what to do with that camera. Peter's wife, Cherrill has the Westfield but unfortunately was working today and couldn't join us. Save your best photo's for the calendar because they will not be used if they have been posted on here. The castle has a lovely garden area, overlooking the river and across to the limestone crags, can you spot the rock climber? The hotel has a swimming pool and sauna too, if I didn't live so close I would definitely stay there. After lunch people scattered in different directions, we decided to follow the group heading south and called in at Darley Moor Airfield Cafe to watch the planes on the runway. Darley Moor Airfield Not without a drama, a bi-plane crashed into a motorised wingy thing What a splendid day out, I hope everyone has enjoyed it as much as we have and I thank you all for coming. Next weekend? well you have to drag yourself away from reading the forum first, we have got Chris Kingster in the Alps and Geoffrey in Scotland, all good reading. It is Middleton Motors Monthly at Middleton Hall in North Warwickshire. Although it is a motorway job to get there, the route home will include the Peak District.1 point
