  1. Going to a full cage was a sensible move I fully admit, but after spending so many hundreds (thousands?!) of hours going over tiny details of my car for the last few years, given a choice I would have taken the time and effort to get a fully custom cage made and fitted (research was done, calls were made, measurements were taken) which would arguably be stronger due to better but more expensive materials. To be forced to take an off the shelf route only to seemingly have not needed to bother following the rules...yeh, p****ed off. Martin, after removing your full cage to replace it with another full cage you have plenty of right to feel mightily aggrieved. To think this has forced a number of people to stop competing and in some cases even been the final straw to make them sell their car all together, just because they were trying to do the right thing and comply with the rules while others just didn't give a s**t but continue to be allowed to compete. What a joke. If these rules are going to be forced upon competitors for better or worse the least they can do is stick by them and actually enforce them. If they aren't enforcing safety critical matters then why do we even bother trying to comply with any rules at all other than in the spirit of fair competition.

  2. Hi John/Scott/Nick Hi Folks No problem with a "Private" SSOT only area for for recording ideas, interchange of thoughts, minutes of decisions taken etc The publication of proposals/decisions to the entrants/members needs some joint consideration so we know how to go about such matters before we go too far along a new path. I think we now need a clear task list for the SSOT to start working on before the season gets too old or the 2017 rule setting season will be on us before we can blink! BR Glutey

  4. I saw the picture first thing this morning. I think it was the high spec Cosworth powered one which was for sale for parts only. It had cost a shed load of money to build and as a doner would be a great package. Over the years I have seen a lot of pictures of seven type cars after a crash they look awful but death or serious injury is rare. I don't know if it is because they are so light that the impact moves the car as part of the process but we have seen ones which have been broken in tow and people walk away. Less dangerous than a bike so I try not to worry.

  5. Could I request that as well as a website name such as "gun plumber" it should be essential that we can see people's real names as it causes crazy confusion when you eventually meet up with someone or like me deal with Speed Series guys who you cant recognise from our own website!

  7. Maybe it is at the hill climbs that the more serious accidents tend to happen apart from John Roberts at Curborough last year! I hope nothing happens this year but if it does and ROP issues are involved I am sure we will see the regs enforced universally! Glutey

  13. Yeah I wouldn't get to hung up on MSA spec, its all a load of tosh If you have an RAC spec roll bar and your using it for road or track day use then your fine as you are. If your competing in MSA governed events you"ll possibly have to comply or may be not all depends on the scrutineers on the the day. My advice at mo is stay as you are ! But then what do I know, I just follow MSA regs and get shafted every time ;-)

  14. I'm with you Dave, what a mess !!! It's not fair that those of us who have spent good money to comply with the new regulations now feel sick to see others happily competing without a care for the rules and being allowed to by the poor jurisdiction of the MSA. What a balls up MSA !

  21. I'm going to keep this short and sweet - Ian and Marcus have done a fantastic job with Stoneleigh, all guided, assisted and supported by Andy, who's done a damned good job himself. This year's Stoneleigh is the best I can remember, mainly due to them but also due to all the members who volunteered and gave of their time. The guide, planning, support and mechanisms are all in place to put on Stoneleigh, but Ian and Marcus have earned their retirement. We have talented, intelligent, focused members who can step in to take up the mantle and it's not a question of wanting to hear from you, we NEED to hear from you - and soon! I will sweeten the pot a bit as well. I'll guarantee next year's budget will once again include beer and outside catering on Sunday night, but also the members of the new Stoneleigh organising team (up to four people), upon successful delivery and completion of the show each year, will receive a free year of club membership as a thanks and in appreciation of their hard work. Please be someone special - make a difference. Thanks!
