  1. Had a great day out today , a little misty when I left home and headed for the lecht , met David up there and took some photos, from there we had a good run to tomintoul , coffee stop, came out and car wouldnt start , a loose earth wire on the battery clamp, soon sorted and we were on our way, over the "brig o broon" and then the back roads to cairngorm, David leading said he could hear the supercharger as we climbed the hills Then up Cairngorm in glorious sunshine, lunch on the ski center verander, quite surreal really as we were driving open cars , lunch in the sun and folks going skiing .......... So a few pics just below the car park and at loch morlich, back along the back roads to Grantown, topped up with fuel ( she is a thirsty gal when you play on the hills in 3rd and 4th...lol) then we said our goodbyes and headed for home. All in all a great day out with great company, great weather and great roads. some pics of our day here http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/index.php/gallery/album/817-over-the-mountains/ as I cant put photos on, I got some video but goofed with the camera and missed the best bits, guess we will have to do it again .. lol Gary

  3. Yeah that nasty little red thing sat on my fuel tank , I knew how today would go I had pre-planned smooth slowly building faster times but the moment the light went green I reverted back to a 20 year old again and went mental driving like mario kart. Will have to have a look at the calendar again now :0)

  7. Hi Martin I fixed the plate on with a combination of Velcro and double sided tape. It is reasonably solid and has not moved The IVA testers never gave the fixing of it a second glance

  8. Pretty sure DVLA will only ask for a letter of confirmation if it affects the road tax being paid. I converted my car from a car engine to a 1000cc bike engine which put my car in the lower PLG band and had to send proof.

  9. Just a quick reminder that the meeting is tomorrow evening All welcome, in Westfields or otherwise from 7.30pm onwards. Looks like we might even have the weather to sit outside and watch for planes coming in

  10. Yes you should give the new engine no. to the DVLA. As you are having an MOT soon ask the tester for a conformation letter for the engine no. as this is sometimes asked for by the DVLA. The change in cc is very small and won't affect your VED band and also tell your insurance company, again no premium charge should happen as they just class you car in very broad insurance groups ie. Bike engine, V8, Turbo under 2.0, non turbo under 2.0 etc.

  11. I decided I was fed up with the clutch and brake pedal rubbers falling off at regular intervals, so they had to go! I brought the accelerator pedal to the party as well. Very grippy under the foot now

  16. Mine's never suffered any ill effects from being sat on the sump. i normally stick an offcut of 4x2 under the front of the sump so it helps to keep it level and more stable. On my mk1 engine I run a cut cam-cover but I guess on a Mk2 with the cam sensor on the front you'll need to be a bit more creative if you need to keep the sensor.

  17. I'm going to keep this short and sweet - Ian and Marcus have done a fantastic job with Stoneleigh, all guided, assisted and supported by Andy, who's done a damned good job himself. This year's Stoneleigh is the best I can remember, mainly due to them but also due to all the members who volunteered and gave of their time. The guide, planning, support and mechanisms are all in place to put on Stoneleigh, but Ian and Marcus have earned their retirement. We have talented, intelligent, focused members who can step in to take up the mantle and it's not a question of wanting to hear from you, we NEED to hear from you - and soon! I will sweeten the pot a bit as well. I'll guarantee next year's budget will once again include beer and outside catering on Sunday night, but also the members of the new Stoneleigh organising team (up to four people), upon successful delivery and completion of the show each year, will receive a free year of club membership as a thanks and in appreciation of their hard work. Please be someone special - make a difference. Thanks!
