  3. Can I suggest that you mention the Silverstone Classic again Tom - I've got my ticket for the Saturday but, AFAIK, I'm the only one going from the Cotswold area (up to now). Early bird booking period ends midnight tomorrow

  8. Hi Ive just paid and joined!!, what a great site!!! Wanted to say hi Im from Northants and bought my Westfield in Sept last year so this is going to be my first summer of fun with her Its a 1999 Seight running a 4 ltr V8 thats been tuned by RPI, rolling roaded at 298bhp with 5000 miles, TVR bell housing and a T5 gearbox to a cosworth Diff so its excellent fun and i love the noise if nothing else!! Ive had bikes for the last few years and TVRs previous to bikes I just fancied getting back on 4 wheels, always loved westfields so hunted high and low and found one and I enjoy meeting like minded people and so far ive met some great people in the Westfield community. Hoping to do some track days this year and visiting the northants and cotswolds club When i work out how to post pics i will pop some up All the best Sam

  10. Did you borrow or buy an infra red thermometer gun. They are really useful. Point the red dot at the rad and the block to check real temp and compare against your gauge. Remove gauge anxiety ☺http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DRAPER-Handheld-Infrared-Digital-Temperature-Thermometer-Non-Contact-Gun-31910-/371285699723?hash=item56725a2c8b:g:Oi4AAOSw7aBVCqK3 This is an example there are lots from under £10. It might save your blood pressure and cooling system pressure. Even if it's not the solution you can use it to check improvements ?

  12. Don't rely on the gauge to give any sort of accurate temp reading, they just don't. Mine over reads by a good 10c.

  13. I have trimmed off a few replies that weren’t helping the situation. SUMMARY OF WHAT YOU NEED. 1)A ROPS that complies with K.1.6.1 or K.1.6.2 ie must have a hoop and 2 rear stays made from CDS tube that is 45mm Diameter x 2.5mm thick or 50mm Diameter x 2.0mm thick. It does not need to have any certification. 2)A ROPS that has been homologated by the FIA/MSA and has the appropriate documentation to prove it. This can be made from different diameter ie smaller tube as it’s been designed / tested and has passed. WHAT WON’T PASS This is not an exhaustive list and is here only to help, please check yourself if there is any doubt. Shown below are common designs of ROPS for Westfield’s that will NOT be accepted for Sprints & Hillclimbs. 38mm Roll hoop with 38mm rear stays with ball joints at the ends. 38mm Welded in Roll hoop with 38mm rear stays (but no homologation certificate) A single roll hoop of the right diameter with no rear stays. I had been working with Mark Walker of Westfield to try and get approval of the Welded in ROPS on the Race chassis, but unfortunately that has not been possible as Westfield made them from T45 material rather than CDS and did not get homologation.
