  1. LAMB IN A BAP...! As it's a special year and it's appropriate to formally recognise the people who organise and run the show (give Tolf a break from the BBQ basically), our traditional post AGM meal will be a fully catered affair this year! Most will be familiar with the format and will probably have sampled some of the food in years past, as we are delighted to announce that the Farmers Fayre Hog Roast chaps from the show-ground are going to put on a whole Lamb for us This will be outside the Marquee directly after the AGM. Of course you are welcome to bring your own food if you'd prefer another option and we can fire up the WSCC BBQ as required for the vegetarian option. There will also be green and Greek salads, coleslaw and potato salad. You are also welcome to bring your own drinks but beer and soft drinks in limited quantities will be provided as usual. For clarity, this is open to invited guests, the organisers and the volunteers. It is not open to mates or non-club members unless by prior arrangement. In order to "qualify", you'll need to make yourselves known to the organising team and if poss, wear your volunteer TeeShirt/show your volunteer wrist band as this will help the caterers identify us and feed us So there you go, please make every effort to attend the AGM and come and join your fellow members for a Lamb bap after.

  5. Lol! Looked at car, been looking at fish tanks, then got dragged on a 4 mile round walk to Asda to buy some fresh bread-but they'd sold out by the time we got there, so I walked home with 5 bottles of real ale clinking in my back pack! Bought the car for £480 without the hard top or winter tyres he had. It was a nice car, a shame to break it, but the body had got some rust areas that probably had rot underneath. I've arranged a company to deliver it for £75 and was chuffed with that, especially as they'll deliver it Sunday evening. Well looks like i'm committed to a build now, so am looking forward to Stoneleigh-looks like I won't be there until Monday though. I need to sort the wife's aquarium which involves strengthening the joists under the floor boards and moving a radiator. While I have the system drained I'm fitting a Fernox filter to the heating system to. It's all planned for next weekenf as I'm off Sat/Sun/Mon/Tue. I have a week of at Whitsun so can start the strip then! Ian

  7. Cool, will be interesting to see if he's able to come back to you! To be fair the history file was quite comprehensive so I think I've got most of the info, it's just nice to complete the story Sounds like it was your uncle I bought it from, think his name was Alf? Really nice guy and clearly cared a lot about the car. He mentioned the Le Mans trip and said he bought the keyring that was on the keys there, and how special the keyring was to him, so I've kept it and it's still on the car keys. I love little bits of history like that. Should get rid of it now really as it gets thrown around on track as it hangs out of the dashboard, but I can't bring myself to do it! It's a 20 litre tank but that crossflow was a thirsty little monster! Think it was about 100 - 120 miles on the road between fills. Much less on track! I can imagine that was both deeply worrying for the driver and frustrating for the convoy! I've been thinking about doing a history thread on here for posterity's sake, so this may have just prodded me into it.

  8. Westfield, (well dur ) But also... Playskool - I've got their ARB front and rear, very pleased with them. Siltech - always great feedback about them Pro Comp - again, always great feedback. Northampton Motorsport were advertising ARBs a few years ago, not sure if they still do them or not. Bear in mind though, that the rate of the ARB's from different suppliers will vary, you'll want something compatible with what ever front ARB you have, which might restrict your choices.

  9. 1980, Mk1 Escort had a coming together with a lamppost on my way to work. Don't know what happened really as I was asleep at the time. 2013, Alfa Romeo Guilietta, idiot from work ran into the back of me in an old Seat, car repaired, but still getting phone calls from "No win, No fee" cold callers.

  10. I know - random isn't it?? I've made some more changes since then too. Happy to put together a current spec sheet and brief history of my ownership with photos etc if he's interested? I'm always keen to hear what happened to cars I've owned so would be happy to pass on info. Would also be great to get some more background info for my records too if he's willing to share...
