  1. So I've completed the winter list of upgrades, Roll cage, Carbon cycle wings, Carbon Bulkhead panel, Carbon Tunnel panels, Flat shifter, Dominator headlights, Carbon wing mirrors, Protech dampers. Most pleased with the transformation the roll cage has made (thanks Luke @ playskool). Think a carbon aeroscreen will complete the transformation.. and a few pics

  3. Big thumbs up to Julie . The cover photo looks fantastic even more so because my car features in it. I asked Julie if she could organise a couple of days out one weekend as a planned trip with my son had to be cancelled . True to form my Peak District AO soon put a plan together, my car was insured for my son and did he have some fun . The weekend culminated in a visit to the Vulcan Bomber Museum at Woodford where the cover photo was taken. Prior to that we took in many roads in the Peak District ate lots of food (low cal) and enjoyed some good banter. Thanks Julie, thanks Glen, Baby Bio (my son), Rickyboy and Brooke, Martyn and Sue oh and I almost forgot Bob.

  15. Having a hood offers one big advantage.... when you come to sell your car... You attract 1st timers off Autotrader/Ebay who pay top dollar and won't possibly consider buying a car without a roof .

  17. Hi. My frame sits inside the bootbox lid. I lift up the lid and the frame sits inside and then the lids closes and locks in place.

  19. I have the short stubby one as well, wait till I get home. Any quality branded Dot4 is fine for our bathtubs, such as Castrol Response, Motul, ATE blue etc. Just changing the brake fluid needs a litre. Suck out the old stuff from the reservoir and refill with new fluid, then go round the car and bleed through till the new stuff comes out. You should start at the rear nearside wheel cylinder and run up to 1/2 a litre through until you see the clean fluid. Then do the offside rear followed by the fronts. You'll find the last three wheel cylinders will use a lot less new fluid than the first one you did. Don't forget to top up the reservoir regularly or you will end up with air in the system and will be a big problem and many more litres of brake fluid on your shopping list.

  20. I can only help you in one respect, do not, and i mean DO NOT put brake fluid in the engine it will make your engine - that is all .

  28. Hello mate and welcome. I too am a new member and have a cross flow engined se. I'm sure other engines are just as much fun, and many on paper, have more power, and the bike engined westies look great BUT once you've driven a decent specced cross flow and fallen in love with the sound, you will be smittened lol... There's something raw about the older technology....sniffing the petrol and hearing the cards spluttering all adds to the enjoyment. Hope you have a blast mate and happy birthday for next week ...wish I was thirty again lol..... Mart.

  29. So long as you're still enjoying the build, who cares how long it takes. I refused to set a deadline for finishing mine and only worked on it when I felt like it, and I'm still convinced that's the best approach.

  31. Congrats and welcome. Totally different kettle of fish to Evos, Subaru's, M3's etc in terms or raw excitement and pure driving. Even with relatively little power they make driving a 400bhp Evo or E46 M3 seem muted and a little dull. All IMO of course.

  34. Hi TheHighlander123, and welcome. Striking looking car you're getting there. Looks like a purple people eater! I live near Inverness too (there's a few of us now), so if you want to get together for a run out, let me know. Can't promise I'll be able to keep up with you though as yours looks a potent purple beast! David
