And it's mega... It's cheap but it's Bertie Bassets Cheerful... And surprisingly fast, doesn't take long to get to the national limit. OK the turbo does dull the initial throttle response so if you want to rev match on the downshift you need to give it a bit more of a blip than you would like, but the whoosh of boost that follows is a fair return. And does like to rev. I just wish I had gone for the DERV, I guess I was just too scared to have that much fun. Ride is too jiggly for a daily drive, but spot on for fun driving. Steering is stupidly direct, sure a lack of feel, but instant response. It just feels agile and nimble and does want to turn in. Will take a while to get used to it before I give it a good spanking as it will take some getting used to. And the Red really does suit it. Fast Fords, back to their best... Blag a drive in one - you might be surprised...2 points

I've got one and they're a great bit of kit straight out the box. Just take your time to learn the basics, read the manual and watch tons of YouTube vids! I've flown in winds up to 20mph but you've also to remember that winds also gust and it's then when things can become hairy to the novice pilot! You'll be pleasantly surprised at how often winds are below 20mph in the UK .. I know Phantom owners as far north as Inverness, lol! Here's one of my efforts - https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10209302889355704&id=14267613911 point

Well, not entirely accurate, but having just taxed my car for tomorrow, I too can reveal my winter 'upgrades'. I always hated the bare aluminium look that my car featured, and after a few attempts to buy a carpet set for it, eventually gave up and waited for the right time to do it myself. Well, this winter was finally the right time. I removed the seats and was greeted by the nice combination of road grime, oil (well it is a Crossflow, what do you expect?) and grit. Nothing that a lot of elbow grease and white spirit couldn't shift though! The carpet was bought a long time ago, but with the car empty the patterns were made and trial fitted Apply Sikaflex liberally (except for tunnel top), leave to dry overnight and re-fit seats Q.1 point

Progress is slow due to a lack of time and money at the moment but tonight i got half an hour to start building the top crankcase up. I got the shift drum and shaft installed and starter gear (not sure if this is the correct term for this?) Hopefully tomorrow i should get both the main and secondary shafts in and check it selects all five gears ok. Mike1 point

They recommend max 30mph wind. Flown mine in a lot worse but wouldn't do it again. It was hard to land it, not on the floor I catch it by hand. You just need a bit of common sense in what weather to fly it in, that day I'd run out of the stuff lol1 point

I love surprises and I was surprised when Marcus did a late posting to say they were coming, then when we got there Bioman (Richard and Liz) was there too, lovely. We also had Russ and Martyn and Sue, cracking turnout for February, well done everyone and thank you. The Wheatsheaf After lots of breakfast next to the real fire we were lured out by the blazing sunshine. Had to laugh at Russ though, as I was explaining the route I got the puppy dog eyes as he asked, 'but is there any cake along the way?' Only one answer to that question, 'Yes' there is always cake on my runs out. We took the big roads out to Ladybower before turning up a small road to the North Lees Estate. Up, over and round with wide open views all the way and very little traffic. We stopped for a photo and I think Martyn had cheeky little pee while no-one was looking . Richard and Liz had just popped out for a quick visit and came as far as Ringinglow with us before turning back. We circuited round back down to Calver to the cafe for lunch where a Robin Hood was parked up. We had a quick chat before heading for cake. Red Velvet cake was the favourite, they would have been better off just putting the full cake on the table and giving us a spoon each, I mentioned it to the lady but she wasn't buying it. Marcus and Nakkib, and Russ had to head off from here, I reckon they only came for the cake . That left Martyn/Sue and us to do the lower leg of the trip. We stopped on Longstone Edge for a quick photo before heading for Monsal Head. 2 photo's actually We paused for the view over the Monsal Head viaduct before doing the fun bit. I told you it was a first gear corner!!! You keep the revs up high as you approach so your engine doesn't die and you think 'I can do it in second gear'. No blooming chance, it's vertical and it goes back on itself in a hairpin fashion. Get in first gear, it's a bit slippy too, I wiggled but I think Martyn found a bag full of snakes. He was snaking about for ages, and the smell of burning rubber, what a stink After the excitement we picked up the Tideswell road and headed for the Ice Cream Farm in Matlock to re-live our journey. Matlock Meadows Ice Cream Farm Don't tell me the Peak District is busy on a Sunday, these roads were empty, I guess it is because you have to make your own entertainment up there. There are no Visitor Centres or shops, just raw countryside. I will probably eat those words next Sunday when everyone decides to take their mum out for a day in the countryside. Yes it's mother's day next Sunday but we will still be out and about, come and join us if you can. P.S brilliant pictures Marcus, thank Nakkib for me1 point

Hi Scott, great news your sorted, and I second your comment about having a mentor to advise on how to buy the right one! Chris did the same for me, as well as many other prominent members on here. Some good guys with some great knowledge. Im hoping that I can get to the yorkshire meet as well.1 point

Sorry you are not coming Ben, I was very much looking forward to seeing your new car. Don't forget it is for driving, not polishing , if you change your mind this is a good trip to try your car out as the type of roads will determine a slower speed, useful if you are new to your car. Oh, and Martyn 'the brain' will be in attendance if you need any more help with the fuel pump/filter issue. Hope to see you soon, maybe when it is a tad warmer too, maximum 5 degrees forecast for Sunday. Trevor? Tut? Tut?1 point
