  2. OK getting serious about the Fiesta ST now, so I called Privilege to get a quote to add it to my current policy. Priv do not do multi car policies, but instead they offer multi car discounts to the current policy. My 10 year old 1.8 Ford Mundane with 9 years NCD costs me £280 a year. The quote for the pocket rocket Fiesta ST without any NCD (I can only use my current allowance on one car) was... £228..! Seriously, what the hell is going on LOL... I can only assume the Insurers look at the real cost of a claim being the medical side. And having an accident in a 10 year old car will be worse than a 18 month old one (that inflates like a bouncy castle). And that the ST being small won't damage what you hit as much as a big old Mundane bus... But still that is stupid little money - just found a serious advantage to being old..!

  3. Sensible- that word went out of my vocabulary 20 years ago, must be Mid Life Crisis for you now, I'm still in it That's what the Westfield is for.

  4. Everything you say is totally sensible. But after a few recent events, I'm not feeling sensible. And I know a DSG is 'better' in almost every way, but I am an old and stubborn sod who believes 'real men stir a box'. Same goes for Quattro, if the going under foot is a bit dodgy I just slow down. I don't want ultimate speed, I want grins and giggles..!

  5. I wouldn't say the S3 is Playful at all, just unflappable, fast transport through rain wind and snow due to the Quattro 4wd. You'll never spin a tyre with it. DSG makes it even better. If you're set your mind on the Fiesta, yes I agree it's more fun and light. The New Fast Ford if you like.

  6. Mine has arrived safe and sound. Thank you again. I may pick your brains when I get round to fitting it!

  7. Hi Panda, glad you lived to drive another day..! When I used to work in Azerbaijan (15 years back), the local cops (ahem) used to pay the 'mayor' for their jobs and then made their money by keeping the bogus fines they extracted from the over paid and invariably drunk expat Oil workers. Top Tip, only ever carry a photo copy of your passport, carry an old wallet stuffed full of expired notes (like Lira) and loads of hotel / shop loyalty cards cos they look like credit cards. So when a cop (ahem) shoves a gun in your face, you give them a bogus wallet bulging full of crap. And he goes away happy...

  8. Cheers Dave. I am looking at an early car with wire throttle not DBW. I will be using the Westfield OMEX kit . After chatting with Simon, he put my mind at rest about engine supply , although I will keep nosing until I do need it. I have funds now to buy an engine , but would rather I sold my car first to free up more. I can then get rolling the project. Depending on monies , I may decide whether or not change the flywheel straight off or just go for IVA and pull it out another day. I'd like the throttle bodies one day, and cams .....

  10. That's cool you would have been offered/subjected to one of my Factory tours which I'm yet after 18 years still not put any sizzle into.

  11. But you love diesels! They're sporty! I have proof too. Your Westfield has a crossflow engine, renown for using more oil than petrol.
