Hi there & welcome, there's at least a couple of us in Fife. Despite being a MOT tester I have no experience with IVA or elevens. CJ.1 point

Its an easy job to replace them if you know what you are doing. Make sure you reset the shocker adjusting rings to the same position or you will alter the ride height and hence handling of the car. You might need a C Spanner to rotate the adjusting ring/platform I think that the Duratech used 200lbs springs on the rear but call Mark Walker at the factory to check as "white ones" does not tell us anything1 point
-
You don't have to replace the springs in pairs - but - you need to match the new one to the length, internal diameter (1.9" or 2.25" usually) and rate (how much force it requires to compress the spring) of the old, broken one. However, if one is broken, could the other be on the way out too? A pair of springs is about £50, so could be worth changing both at the same time. The dampers are a completely separate unit, so unless these have their own issues, they don't need replacing. The springs are generic items, so don't have to be purchased from Westfield. Faulkner produce decent quality springs at the price I mentioned, and have a wide range of sizes and spring rates available. They can be bought from the usual suspects - JJC, Demon Tweeks, Merlin Motorsport, eBay, etc. Hope that helps1 point

Sorry to hear about your mother. Hope it all goes well. I am pleased about your comment regarding dignity. Right thing to do in my opinion.1 point

Hi Dave, Sorry to hear your update. Best wishes, Ian1 point

Ok, I spent a lot of my business career reviewing other companies websites (sad I know ) and the good ones that stick out are those that have a clear and logical navigation system (left side or top line - cascading no more then three levels or so at a time otherwise the chain becomes cumbersome and tiresome). It also helps if you can display the "path" on the top line of each page (crumbs) so you can just go track back without having to go back to the main menus and start again. certainly starting with Home About History Events Membership Forum Links News Contacts Fonts should be standard and the same throughout (please - not Times New Roman !!) - colours should also be consistent and dare I say, is it time to update and refresh the logo ?? .............(maybe a members competition there?) I know from personal experience that obtaining and maintaining the content can often be a nightmare but the tools available today are quite good for devolved CMS though you still need an overall "editor" to maintain a consistent "style and language" otherwise it all starts to look disjointed. The forums provide a lot of fresh content that can be extracted and relayed back to the website but I must admit that the forum is where I go 99.9% of the time - maybe if there was a members only login area on the main website that allowed access to something that wasn't on the forums (legal and clean of course ) we'd all go there more often?. For example, I'd still like to help / contribute to some form of parts "cross reference" database that I know many others have also suggested in the past - my own Word document extends to over seven pages now of part number bits and bobs I've saved from my own car as well as extracting from the web - I'm sure others have these lists as well that would prove invaluable to existing and new members. Being a Luddite, I only use PC's to access the web but is / does / should the content be suitable for other devices and what about the use of Facebook and Twitter ? (what about them I hear you ask - the committee would have a nightmare controlling those ) but they are a good way to share information quickly without always going to the forum - though again I've seen company Facebook pages started years ago with no updates since - always a bad sign . I think there's a lot of good stuff and content on the existing website - just needs some navigation and reformatting to start with (and maybe some news colours / logo) and it would certainly look "refreshed". I guess the overriding requirement is that it's easy to navigate (including a search facility) and that there's always something "new" throughout the year. I'm happy to help in any way (design, contribute, "monkey test" etc) Colin1 point

Possibly, but I'm down that way for Easter Weekend anyway and thought it'd be a good chance to catch up with so many of you!1 point

Looks like I'll be heading down to this too - sadly not in a car, and I will be kept busy throughout the day, but hopefully will have enough spare time to say hello and put some faces to names1 point

Three garages @ £30 split 12 ways = £7.50 per car. ..am ded gud at sums like. Sounds reasonable to me. 'bout time Steve H added his name to that list.1 point

When I first saw the thread title I wondered which Scottish member was offering to be ridden. Jealous, riding behind that engine is a very special treat. Anyone who thinks £38 is steep hasn't taken a rail journey lately...or should I say a replacement bus journey.1 point

My thanks to Tiggs for doing this as it was yet another questionable idea from me. Yes, the website is ripe for a refresh due to the passage of time and changing tastes rather than quality, and Tiggs is going to be behind the changes along with Ade, but poor Tiggs asked me want we wanted and I had the bright idea of him asking the membership to get the broadest view. Please concentrate not on what you think is wrong with the current site, but on what you'd like on the new one, particularly what would attract new members and what would be better on the website than in the forums. Thanks.1 point

Hi John, as I said, this is not a "Have a go" post. The idea of the new site is many people can update it not just one person. I'm looking for new ideas please - thanks. Just to add, the link does actually go to the 2015 results (are you sure you weren't look at the "Previous Results"?) and as soon as the fixtures are finalised (currently provisional), I will publish them1 point

The RR forum looks great, especially the drop down, well-organised structure1 point

Yes a lot of work but maybe somebody can take it on as a project and supply the information at a later date for inclusion, after vetting of course1 point
