  1. I guess like a lot of members, I tend to service my car in the winter. I decided to change the oil and oil filter today and as it was wall to wall blue sky, I thought I'd warm the car up properly for a couple of hours. In the end I did about 120 miles and it was fantastic to get out again. However 4 things blighted my first decent drive of the year. 1. It was bl**dy cold. I don't have a heater (didn't think I needed one being a Geordie). 2. The sun was very low and blinding at times (couldn't get my peak under the 2 beanies, neck-warmer and goggles. 3. There was a huge amount of cr*p, cow-sh*t and general grime on the roads which ended up being flung all over the car. 4. Did I mention it was cold? Car washed down, dried, run back up to temp again then into the garage and out with the sump plug and off with the oil filter. I'll let it drip for a couple of days before refitting. Still, all in all, it was the best afternoon I've had in a while.

  3. But this is what its all about. Made frozen, blinded and covered in s**t. You would pay good money for that in some cities.

  5. ^unusual, not my experience. I was warned about noise when I was there in November, just got the 'noise' board shown, I voluntarily came into the pits and had a chat with the organisers. They told me roughly where the mic was and remarked that on my car, the time it was loudest was on open throttle just after changing gear (ie full revs wasn't the issue, it was that gasping sound TB's make when they're desparately sucking air and fuel through at low rpm) so I changed my shift point to 10m past the mic and it was no longer an issue. I do know of another member who had a bad time with the marshals because of noise and has refused to return, which is a shame as it's our local track Unfortunately I'm on holiday that weekend otherwise I'd have been with you Gerry I love the GT circuit, it's perfect for our cars and is such a good track for learning on that I wouldn't want anyone to be discouraged from giving it a try! At £119 it's a flippin bargain for such a huge track too!

  13. That's much better - I might be able to join in now! When I spotted the original motorway route, I did think it was a bit dull - as well as miles away from Geordieland! That route takes you within a couple of miles of my house, so thumbs up!
