  1. Just put on weight do that there's no adjustment left to flap about. Works for me

  2. Had a few things that needed doing over the Winter, but a few electrical gremlins and time flying have seen the list cut back. However the main thing, to get the Westy ready for track days this year, is almost complete. Have a few fixings to sort and fettling to do but finally, it looks how I visualised when I started to make the changes.

  4. Careful with them. Never was the term "monkey metal" used more appropriately than on these 70's and 80's Japanese bikes...

  6. What you need to do is to be sure what failed first as without pictures it is hard to say. If it is actually the rose joint, then it could have seized due to lack of lubrication. It could have been damaged before and has failed afterwards, or it could be a bad one. You could have a metallurgic examination of it to see what has failed. The good thing is you survived what must have been a bad experience.

  7. If anyone is thinking of booking a ferry with Brittany Ferries drop me a PM beforehand and I can let you have a discount code for the crossing (for any route on Brittany Ferries)

  9. Great write up and pics. Here is one just off the A82 with the Tiger Owners from a couple of years ago. I haven't been down the full road but I will after reading the post. Bob

  11. Yeah, that'll do it... I have no idea if an auto cam-chain tensioner is available. I do know that I have seen dozens of CB engines with holes in them because the can chain tensioning job was ignored. You'll know when it needs doing 'cos it'll rattle like hell. As long as you can hear it over the clutch basket rattling, the inlets rattling and everything else rattling you should be fine! It didn't help that the chains at the time were made of chocolate... Good luck with the project.

  13. Hi All, I have now realised a long term desire, and own a 2.0 Duratec Westfied on an 06 plate and I love it. Now.............. by my own admission, I'm NOT a mechanical person! So rely upon others to maintain vehicles for me. I'm looking to replace the inertia belts for harnesses, and am looking for someone in the Stoke-on-Trent area who could do this for me. Does anyone have any recommendations they could make? Any Westy friendly mechanic / garage would be wonderful. Also, my wife and I are looking for suggestions on touring routes in the UK which include hotels / cottages with good parking facilities as we don't fancy leaving the Westy on public car parks (for security reasons). Thank you for taking the time to read my post, and I look forward to perhaps meeting some of you in the N.Staffs/Cheshire area. Steav

  14. Take the fuse out of the dryer, next time the wife tries to use it she'll ask you to investigate why it wont work. Tell her it's beyond repair, take it to your local tip, save lots on elecrticity running costs, dry the clothes on a maiden or a horse and park your Westy up safely....

  15. This is my route between Portree and Durness. Hotels will be in Glencoe, Portree and Durness going up and still looking at sorting my route back down. Planning 3 days at Glencoe. 2 days in Portree and 2 in Durness which leaves 2 days left for coming back down. Would still like to come back down via the West Coast though. The route below is breathtaking.....This is following advice I was given last year and when we drove it, I about wet my pants in places. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.
