  1. I just wanted to say a big thankyou to Mark from carbon NV for my new cycle wings. The quality looks amazing and I am really happy. So looking forward to getting them on Buttercup. The communication has also been excellent and I have been kept informed throughout. Anyway here are some pictures for you all to drool over. :t-up:

  8. Hi Marcus. Don't want to discuss money as its a dirty subject. I am sure Mark will look after you. Regarding the fixing......No idea. I was just going to take the car to Bogg Brothers and say" fit them for me Steve and I will see you in a fortnight" I will put your idea to Steve though.

  9. Very nice Geoff how much were they? also have you decided how you are going to fix them? I had a pair of carbon ones on my previous westfield and I bonded in big head fasteners to avoid drilling through the lovely carbon

  10. Yes, agreed. Avoid Loch Lomond. Stirling to Crianlarich is a far better route for a Westy, and gives options to detour as Scottish Westy says. High Bridge is just along the road from me. It is a 15-20 min walk from the Commando memorial. Probably sign-posted from the car park, I haven't noticed. I go over the stile that is opposite the entrance to The Old Pines Restaurant. This is a few yards down the road after turning left out of the car park. With the exception of the Cuillin Hills Hotel (quite expensive), the other Hotels in Portree are rather limited on parking space, if they have any at all. Most rely on people parking in the public car parks around the village. The Marmalade is the only other one I can think of with half reasonable parking. I hope to be able join in some of the routes if my Westy rebuild is completed by then.

  11. All good points but I think the OP is looking to compete in the speed series next year so needs the MSA compliance, currently SAH2010. I agree about the motorcycle helmet approach for road use, that's what I have, but then obviously have a snell approved one for the speed series. I do not experience any of the issues OP has mentioned and still question if it is a head height to aeroscreen height issue for the buffeting, and a scarf/jumper issue blocking under chin ventilation?

  12. Matt, I suggested a wee detour to Aberfoyle, Dukes Pass, Kilmahog, Lochernhead and Crianlarich :-)

  14. Hi Geoffrey, I assume you choose this first road section for a reason but if it was me, I'd head up the A1M and then the A68 to Edinburgh, M9 past Stirling, Callander etc. I don't enjoy long sections of motorway in the Westie and the A68 is a more enjoyable route than M6/M74. Also means you miss out Glasgow and the annoyingly slow run up past Loch Lomond. Matt

  16. This is a very good build thread, but after the last few posts, I'm of the opinion it needs more photos of the lovely Amanda please. You are indeed fortunate to have a wife with beauty and the patience to help you with the build.

  17. What deeply amuses me is how your wife understands you, but you clearly don't understand her. If she says there are upgrades you shouldn't tell her about, you have failed to realise you've just given her license to buy things she doesn't have to tell you about either. I believe you've been played like a fiddle.
