  1. As you are all aware this year is probably the most difficult one that I have know since doing this job 8 years ago. Mainly due to the change in MSA regs on tyres. The Speed Series Organising Team SSOT have been discussing the 2016 regs at length and trying to decide what we do about these changes. It's a very difficult job and it has become obvious that whatever we do we cannot please all of the people. We still have work to do to decide the way forward for the Speed Series, not only for this year but also future years. The SSOT will meet on this sunday morning to continue making progress. We are aware that a lot of you want to know so you can plan ahead, so for that reason we anticipate having some draft regulations ready for the weekend of 21/22nd November 2015. Could I please ask you not to bother the guys at the Awards Evening it's a celebration of everyone's achievements in 2015, lets enjoy it as such.

  4. Hello All. I was asked a while ago if I would be interested in the post of AO and I accepted a couple of days ago. I have organised two events within East Yorkshire prior to Christmas. The first is a winter picnic and here is a link to the post within the WSCC forum. http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic/116437-early-christmas-dinner-drive-out-winter-picnic-saturday-21st-november/ The second event is to allow us all to get together and have something to eat followed by a game of bowling, a visit to Terror Towers, an hour or so in the amusements followed by a lemontop ice-cream to round off the afternoon. This would not involve driving out in our Westfield cars but would be a great chance for husbands, wives and children to have a nice few hours out. Here is a link to the post within the WSCC forum. http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic/116517-east-yorks-xmas-meal-bowling-amusements-and-lemon-tops/ During the past year or so, I have organised a number of drives out and a number of people have stated that it is nice to have someone who is willing to organise excursions out because at present there is no-one within the area who organises any events. I will be honest and say that racing and going fast does not appeal but drives out to scenic places is my kind of thing. I would like to build on this and hopefully involve more "partners" as most of the drivers are usually on their own. I am not in a position to have a monthly meet in a pub but I am in a position to organise lots of lovely drives out with good stops for food and refreshment, this will also provide lots of opportunities for a natter. I do drive my Westfield all year round and spend a lot of time on the North Yorkshire Moors or in the Yorkshire Dales and I feel that this is something that can be built upon. I am looking forward to this opportunity and I am already looking forward to a good year ahead.

  7. Hi Geoff and congratulations on your new role. You have done a stirling job of organising runs out and I am sure you will continue to do so in the future. As you live in one of our favourite parts of the country Sue and I would join you regularly if it wasn't a 150 mile journey to the starting point. However, we will try to join you sometime in the new year

  10. I'm looking forward to your plans and confident you'll do a great job buttercup. I also like the way you want to "do it your way" rather than following convention. i'd suggest "Geoffreys' jaunts" as a working title for your run-out extravaganzas....

  13. Great news Geoffery, will look forward to lots of pictures and stories of your events. More activities can only be good for the club. All the best Glen and Julie

  14. Is it just me or is every forth car coming the other way trying to blind you? Modern cars suffer from bright bulbs with appalling reflectors and lenses, made to look sexy, and dummies who don't know how to adjust them (usually a little switch on the dash - never a Westfield option)

  16. It also went on to Pistonheads. I had a few enquiries including one from France. According to the buyer (a Milan based dealer of specialised cars) the buyers want a car for driving around the lakes and mountains of Northern Italy in the good weather, rather than track days. Simon.

  17. It may come down to cost for some of our members. If you could have some rough figures for the next meeting Bob, that'd be great! We can put all the suggestions to the group.

  21. And here is the finished article - this is what an evening's work with a kit should produce (without the red woolly jumper ): I reckon it would make a perfect Christmas present (well better than socks, anyway!) Now the prices: For non-members, a kit will be £25+postage or £55+postage for a pre-assembled and tested unit. For WSCC members, take 10% off this, so a kit will be £22.50+postage or £49.50+postage for a pre-assembled and tested unit. If there are a few members from one area, I can obviously combine postage. As far as logistics, I should have 7 complete units ready next week. For the kits, I'm waiting on PCB's, but I was able to increase the order from 10 to 20 boards and I'll be soldering up the first 2 (at least) to take new photos for the instructions, so there should be plenty to go around... I've made a note of the order people popped up in, so if you'd like to order one, please send an email to my private address (in the contact area of the fitting instructions) with your forum name and we can go from there! [i'm away on business for a few days, so please don't worry if you don't hear from me immediately] Thanks again to everyone for the kind words of support - it's helped enormously since I didn't quite realise how many hours I'd end up devoting to this one I'll keep the latest version of instructions here: http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/index.php/blog/13/entry-280-self-cancelling-indicator-blinkstop/
