  1. I have a Volvo XC60 and the lights are adjustable at the front, which makes a huge difference even on dipped beam. The day running lights are as good as some headlights but they all pale away at the rear brake light intensity. When I brake it is like a fiery ball following me and if near a junction they reflect back off the signs. I have never used the rear fogs as I suspect they will be visible by the space station

  2. Having a slight rant here but when are headlights too bright for safety? In short, driving along unlit roads a night and a Q7 catches and sits on my tail - I'm in my daily driver, Volvo v40, which is a fairly modern car but I was astonished to see that it was creating a shadow in my own headlight pool because I was being bathed in white light from the Audi. Needless to say I saw this whilst desperately squinting to prevent the general glare from dazzling me. I get the point that brighter lights mean for better vision for the driver but surely not at the expense of other road users?

  3. Re. large number of Caterhams for sale on Pistonheads I read 23/10/2015--- http://skiddmark.com/2015/10/caterhams-new-owners-must-get-a-grip-on-its-ailing-business/ alleges "Customers are naturally concerned. It can now take up to 9 months from order to delivery (of a kit). This is way too long." Is this a case of supply and demand whereby limited supply from the factory possibly resulting in increased demand (and prices) for second hand models and some owners cashing in? Just a thought.

  5. In 2015 a few of us (Tim, Rich, Marto, Graham and myself plus a support team) ventured to France for the St Guoeno Hill climb at the end of May 2015. Travel there on the Thursday and come back on the Monday. It follows the standard practice on Saturday and compete on Sunday format so is possible to reduce the time away but you would be missing out on a lot of the fun. Marto's blog is here Event website here We all enjoyed it so much that we plan to go again next year. The organisers have decided to reduce the number of entries in 2016 so there will be a rush for an entry as soon as the entries open. The regulations and entry forms will be out soon, they are just trying to agree the date with the French Hillclimb Association. It will be either the 28/29 May or 4/5 June. It would be good to get more there from the WSCC, competing or spectating, so I have started this topic so that people can lodge their interest and post the link to the entries page just as soon as it is published.
