  1. We are in Blackpool this weekend so no hot wiring, flying wiper blade or indicators that don't. I suggest you will have a fairly boring day out then!!!!

  2. The Race of Champions allow 1 wild card driver each year. This year 5 times British Hillclimb Champion Scott Moran is in the 12, so please vote for him. A great guy and a true ambassador for UK Sprint & Hillclimbing. Facebook poll here https://apps.facebook.com/my-polls/rocfactor?from=user_link&ref_id=3xoi37

  4. Not loads to report this time, but have made some bits of progress. Done a bit more chassis 'design' (loose term - I'm pretty much just adding triangles everywhere I can and getting them to terminate at the same locations where possible!) and chucked it through the weight calculator on the software - coming out around 78kg at the moment, so should be under 100kg for chassis, wishbones and dampers which is reasonable I think. Not light, but should be stiff and durable. From here I think the whole car should end up around 450kg - we'll see! There has been one major design feature addition to the design which is a bit Marmite... I'm struggling with the aesthetics a little at the moment, but mechanically it makes a lot of sense. it increases the second moment of area massively and also provides some side impact protection - you can't miss it on the images below The inspiration for this came from a similar build based in Croatia, where the chap had these side 'pods' and then added a few bits of extra bracing - in his software just two tubes increased the torsional stiffness off the chassis HUGELY: http://locostusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=90171#p90171 - interesting stuff... Other than that, had a comedy parcel through: It's a titanium manifold from the standard bike - £75, bargain! However, looks like it may not fit with the billet sump I will try and find a way around this as it's a very nice piece of kit and super light. Also sent my diff off to be converted - starting weight (with output shafts) 24kg, after stripping down to only the required parts: 6kg. Should be under 10kg once all converted as in the second picture. Had intended to do this myself but for the price I decided to let someone with a more manly lathe tackle it, then I could expend the time / energy elsewhere. After getting some drawings from the diff chap I have found out that clearance between the engine and OS of the chassis is VERY tight - I may need to shift the diff over a touch and pray that the CV joints stay connected. I'm hoping 10-15mm should do the job so fingers crossed... I think the engine (and therefore diff) will also need to go up a touch, not ideal for CoG but if it doesn't all fit together it's not a lot of use!

  5. I'd rather stick hot needles into my eyes and nail my scrotum to the workbench in the shed before I have anything "Apple" They are the devil incarnate....

  6. Gerrards shows up badly baffled fuel tanks as well. It's only 0.9 miles around the cct. but good fun. Make sure you arrive on time or you won't get into the paddock, only way in is across the track.

  7. It's not a bad track for a play. Gerards can be a front left tyre eater so keep an eye on that throughout the day! Also could be worth overfilling your oil a touch (couple of hundred ml is plenty) to help with surge round there Enjoy!

  10. I had an iphone 4S and swapped to Samsung - best thing I ever done phone wise (Android for me has been much better) - I fully understand that iphones work and are simple to use - but I was fed up of being constrained and locked into the apple money making system - I also purchased a Samsung tablet and it performs the way I want it to - I can put in separate micro cards and not restricted to the built in memory for books/films/music that comes with having an apple product.

  11. I'm running OS8.4.1 all it has done for me is stop me getting the latest apps. It was gradual at first just a few here and there. Now it's most. I'm on a 4s. The reason I didn't is I know too many people who have had their phone go tits up after an update. It seems that once a new model comes out the updates that follow it slow the older phones down. Makes sense as new software is probably written for the faster tech but still its annoying when a useable phone becomes slow just due to aggressive updating. I doubt this is limited to apple but it seems like the htc/Samsung android users don't get as any updates

  13. This really is a great fun night, and not just for speed series drivers/partners. Food and service normally excellent as is the hotel. We're staying two nights, pool, spa and a tipple or two on the agenda!

  14. Ditto ^^^^. That said it did dry out the further north I went. Was glad of the shower really as it'll soften all the dung that Julie's cow poo magnet found (which incidentally had to be every dollop of cow poop that could possibly occupy space on a road in Derbyshire ever since the beginning of time).
