  1. From: Caroline.Hicks@vosa.gov.uk [mailto:Caroline.Hicks@vosa.gov.uk] Sent: 16 May 2011 12:50 To: david.millington@ntta.co.uk Subject: Re: Trailer Weights Hi In response to your email I would like to confirm that when a vehicle is towing a trailer,it is the actual weight of the vehicle, trailer and load which is important in determining a vehicle’s compliance with legal weight thresholds, not the potential carrying capacity. Therefore it would be irrelevant whether the maximum permitted weight of the trailer was above that which the car can tow, it is only the 'in use' weight which can be considered. Obviously this seeks to clarify weight thresholds only as other considerations may preclude for example category of driving licence held. I hope this answers your query. If not please get back to me with further information. RegardsCaroline National Enforcement & Compliance Team Operations Directorate Tel: 0117 954 2632Mob: 07980 981197Fax: 0117 954 3398

  2. As some of you will know, when we last saw her at Stoneleigh, Clare Ironside from A-Plan Insurance was expecting her first child. I was very pleased to get a phone call from her on Wednesday, checking up on all of us but also telling me she'd had a little girl, Keira, back in July. Clare kindly sent a couple of photos of her new daughter for us all to enjoy, the first at one week old and the second just a couple of weeks ago (click on photo to make bigger). So on behalf of us all, many congrats to Clare and family on your beautiful baby girl - we hope to see her at a show in the future.

  5. Hi m8 I have a spare pair of Duratec engine mounts. I paid £45 for them if you want them. Also you will need this tensioner if you are mounting alternator on passengers side... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Focus-C-Max-2-0-Duratec-AODA-Auxiliary-Belt-Tensioner-/141796258132?hash=item2103b73154:g:dvUAAOSwAYtWFsbh Cheers John

  6. Thanks for editing the petition - i will have a look in a mo. By the way this is your championship. I guess I am trying to relay what L7C is thinking and doing along with personal thoughts. As I hinted above its my calculated guess that L7C will take its 2 lower power classes affected by the 1B/1C tyres in the direction of 1B - most of our guys held off buying tyres as they were asterisked in the 2015 BB. It will be more inclusive to those running trackday or road set ups. ZZR in the medium A64 compound as fitted by Caterham will be available and a 1B tyre. Class 5 and 6 which is H pattern up to 265bhp and 6 which is sequential or over 265bhp will both stay on 1C be it in Road going or Mod Prod. We will be though consulting the members and trying to reach a majority decision. It will never be unanimous. The MSA Tyre committee tried to do the right thing and without seeing any formal instructions or the 2016 BB we are in limbo as to the options. (Acknowledging of course Nick's statement). L7C wrote to the MSA and are yet to receive a response.

  7. So after 10 years loyalty price reductions, they must be paying you about £100 per month now???

  8. Also, while a modern engine might be understandingly tempting from a reliability viewpoint, I do wonder if it would have a greater resale value as a car true to its roots with a period engine, rather than an updated version. I'd only say this about a pre-lit, rather than a narrow SE or SEi. It may be worth more or it may not, but it's something worth considering. What you have, an unbuilt pre-lit, is so rare that when it's completed will be of high interest, so getting it right is important.

  9. Just a quick query, I wonder what the position is regarding cars with full cages (not to current requirements) which have MSA log books, such as the flymo, and my old Striker? Both had cages which passed scrutineering for Racing, and held log books for sprints and hillclimbs, but neither would meet the current regs, neither did they have a cage certificate. When I log booked the striker I was asked who fitted the welded on cage, to which the reply was "manufacturer supplied as part of the kit". This did not present any obstacle to the log book (despite no cage certificate) To my mind, there are a lot of cars in this situation, Martos and others, with cages which met regulations at the time of fitting, were acceptable (for racing where accidents are more likely), but did not get certified as they met the minimum requirements at the time. If the MSA get away with this, will they soon insist on zero emissions for all competing cars regardless of age? Seat belts in historic vehicle, cages to current regulations (50mm hoops) in classic race cars etc. If this is the attitude then WSCC wants to review its relationship with the MSA, to ensure that its members are not in breach of any MSA affiliation rule which prevents them competing in none MSA sanctioned motorsport events. Rant over....
