  1. what i cant understand is I was told that from 2014 new tyres could not have the eu rating if they did not meet the regulations .[that's fine with me] and if not would be stamped competition only on side wall. but tyres made before that date 2014 November were still road legal for 5 years and have no such stamp on them . my tyres are all purchased before this date so are road legal and should be able to compete it road legal class for the next 5years or when they wear out . by which time they would off gone off and new tyres would be better even in a harder compound why is there a instant ban no tyre people already have . let them wear them out and then decide what tyres they want to buy in future. its easy to police new 1c tyres will have competition only stamped on them.

  2. The easiest way forward is to adopt the L7 approach as Simon has said Ask for our own class on day at events we are invited to . then we can do as we please with tyres/classes

  3. Is it such a problem that if we allowed list 1C tyres in (for example) classes E & F, they then have to run in mod prod on the day? Is it not similar to the situation which has prevailed up to now, where in many of the events, Classes A and C have had to compete in the same class as E, and classes B and D have had to compete in the same class (on the day) as class F? Just my thought, playing devil's advocate. I suspect that in truth most of us are far more concerned about our fellow competitors in the Speed Series classes, than ever we are about our position in the event organiser's class on the day? I know that was the case for me in the last couple of seasons.

  4. I think I'm almost convincing myself to play in the car as it is until Feb time and then pull the engine out and see what's inside. March sees my 60th birthday arrive and I can't think of anything Mrs T would rather go present shopping for than a list of Xflow parts from Burton!

  5. I'd say that's a bit steep for a project, fine if it was fully built up and ready to go but a bit much for something needed bore work and rings. I'd also be slightly hesitant of a 1700 that needs a hone and rings - if it wore the last rings through then it may well be out of tolerance - just a few things with that listing that don't sit right for me. The money is probably in the head, as long as there's no play in the guides and the valves are ok, but even still, if it were me, I wouldn't be convinced.

  6. Great Blog. Your DRLs look the absolute dogs. Even Mrs T has enjoyed reading through your entries and won't look at mine!

  7. How about asking Westfield how many car's they built with those cages. Gives you an idea then on just how many people are in the same boat as yourselves. If you can then give that figure to the MSA, say it's 100 cars were built with them on, even if there is only 50 cars out there competing that's a substantial number of people, which should hopefully help your case.

  10. bl**** hell how much slower will a medium compound 1b tyre be? it's like the end of the earth or something ? surely a medium compound 888 or a ZZS is still going to be a good tyre for road going class and they wont wear out so quickly! (a good thing for keeping costs down) is is totally inconceivable that a class record can't be broken by better driving, car set up etc ? I am genuinely interested, has anybody ever done back to back testing to see how much faster these "special" 2 tyres are or is it just become a urban myth? I am a complete newbie to sprinting for next year and right now i am looking at the NRS 2 in soft compound (which is like a normal medium i hear) it's £52 quid a corner! https://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres/nankang/ns-2r/195-50-zr15-86w-79309 so £208 quid a set! My personable opinion would be for road going classes just pick a tyre and everybody has to use it ! that is what the MX5 lot are doing up here in Scotland, keeps the costs down and means everybody is on a even platform! ? just my thoughts! Cheers Paul

  11. I know Sky do have a loyal following but after several years with them, at £50 per month, we cut our ties. I spent £250 on a 1TB humax box (which is plug and play with the Sky dish) and for the last 6 years have enjoyed Freesat plus the odd dabble with Netflix, LoveFilm etc. We record absolutely everything we watch, in order to flick past the adverts. I certainly wouldn't go back to Sky. I also download a lot of Movie/Music content so feel that I don't really miss out on much but have saved £600 per year on Sky subscriptions. That goes a long way to covering tax and insurance on our cars..... Each to their own I guess.

  13. I think we are all just going to have to take it up the ass and swap tyres to something not as fast as the current ZZRs / Kuhmos from the new list 1B. Unless event organisers allow 1C in road going we are on a sticky wicket with going into mod prod at events due to technical and safety requirements as well as getting our asses kicked by cars on slicks

  15. have you all been drinking or smoking something and if so pass it along i could do with a pick me up. you've got more chance of roasting your crown jewels with your mobile in your pocket than you have with a smart meter.

  16. I got smart meters fitted by EON on my house, for gas and elec. Water is un-metered. Six months later I changed to co-op rendering the things and my table-top useless display thing inoperable. Great What a crock of ****. Daniel

  18. The badges always look like they make the car "finished", but I can't believe how much difference the "Westfield" script decal makes, I've never seen it done before like that, but it's a really nice touch. Between that and the black pin stripe, yours is probably the most nicely striped Westfield I've seen.
