  1. A nationwide petition seems a good idea with all clubs etc able to participate

  2. Could we set up an online petition somehow? I just think it's so ridiculous that we have to cut off a T45 steel welded in roll hoop that is 38mm x 3mm to replace with a bolted in T45 steel roll hoop that is 38mm x 1.5mm!!

  3. Barmy And that's for you as a keen novice. How is a total new comer ever going to justify it now? David

  4. Looks horrific! Needs a full strip and acid dip/chemical clean to restore it (which all adds to the cost) and I'd be very concerned about how much of rebore those bores will need to get back to fresh metal. Personally I'd keep looking...

  5. Sigh. Will obviously wait for the official news tomorrow, but so far this is turning into a farce. £1000 for a "compliant" cage (I know the MSA spec hoop is £260 but I've got a full cage and want to keep a full cage) £4-500 for a new set of tyres - mine are 10 events old!!!!! All this just to have a go? No thanks. That money was supposed to go on developing the car to handle better, be more reliable and buy me more seat time, not to meet a set of rules that are completely nonsensical. I wanted to have a proper crack at the novice title next year, but that looks highly unlikely now Javelin here we come.

  6. I wouldn't get too hung up on the "checking the paint" pose, I think the director gets 90% of the buyers to do exactly the same thing at the end of the episode. You see it all the time on there, regardless of whether the car has had paint, and including ones that definitely didn't have it in the area being examined. It will certainly have had a machine polish, it may have had paint either on WD or afterwards. (More work was done independently after the episode, it appears - the owners written English is a bit tricky to follow at times! Which doesn't help when you're trying to work out what happened.

  8. It looks pretty simple to do, I'll wait until I hear back from the MSA today and then see where we go - I'll also ask them what the formal appeals/petition process is if we need to go that route.
