  1. I got up and took a picture. It was a bit of a pain to take a picture of as it was much darker than I was expecting. Meant I couldn't take it with a long lens as the exposure was too long so the moon moved and blurred the picture.

  2. Morning fellas. New car now on my drive(well 6.5yrs old new). After a 600 mile round trip mind. I tried out a few different models but eventually opted for the ford smax titanium 2.o tdci manual on a 58plate. The Citroen was terrible! Wallowing round roundabouts and very sluggish, with very poor quality interiors also. Touran held its vaue too well but was a really great alternative, just couldn't find one at the right age and price. Thanks for all your input folks, the best bit is i still have money left over, so will see you all at Anglesey :-)

  3. First review of the Ultima Evolution is in the October CKC mag. It appears to be staggering in all respects.... The price: a cool £120k (although lesser spec models reduce in price) The engine: 6.8litre supercharged V8 The Power: 1020bhp and 920ft lb torque Speed stats: 0 to (60 in 2.3) (100 in 4.9) (150 in 8.9) seconds You can, apparently, build any model yourself at home including the top spec one above.........Blimey

  4. Earlier on this year Trevturtle led a very good run around Derbyshire. The 2 highlights for me was a very steep and twisty hill that unfortunately we drove downhill, and an oversized Lemon Meringue Pie. A repeat event (route in reverse) has been planned so we can drive up that hill and the pie needs a second inspection. Meet at The Tea Junction, Hulme End, Derbyshire, SK17 0EZ at 10.30 am. We will also call in at Claymills Victorian Pumping Station where it is a 'steaming' day (60-90 min visit and £5 entry fee). After a total of 60 miles driving we aim to finish at The Coopers Arms, Weston-on-Trent DE72 2BJ at 5 pm. It doesn't sound like a lot of miles, but nobody lives anywhere near Hulme End either, so the journey to the start will form part of your day. Before anyone gets clever BEC's are invited as we will not be doing the route in reverse gear Trevturtle is very kindly leading the way, so don't follow me because I will be lost without him. As usual everyone is welcome.

  5. Yes, Smeg, it was a longer day than usual. Weirdly though we reluctantly ended the day, if it was lighter later I think we would have stayed longer. Then the funniest bit was Andy's face when I started pulling all these clothes out from behind my seat. He wondered if I was doing something different to him I am very nesh and need many layers on, plus I travel with a nude car, i.e no doors or wind deflectors and when the sun drops it's freezing in the Peak District. For a future run out I can always head west to meet you and Wendy, we can have a big cuppa and a short blat. Bring your friends too. Now for some videos, here we are changing car parks, from the public one to the Westfield Pumping Station one. https://youtu.be/9XmrivCYLsE The pumpy bit https://youtu.be/Q6YgfjIe9Ds And the illuminations at Matlock, steady yourself, don't get too excited, Blackpool is safe for a while yet! https://youtu.be/NIfq_rVUtus All nice, short videos and not too boring I hope.

  7. Next year they are splitting out the Javelin and Toyota days, so there'll be space for 60-70 cars in total at a guess. Barny, in our class (most, if not all Westfields will be in B1 or B2 depending on whether they're bike- or car-engined) the rules on tyres are: Class A, B & C - Slick & competition tyres are permitted providing the vehicle is a). Fitted with a roll cage or has suitable roll over and impact structures in place in the case of single seater type vehicles b). Supension and brake components have been sufficiently upgraded to handle the stress such tyres would put on the vehicle. 5.3 - Warming of tyres prior to the start of each run is not permitted. That's it Full set of regs if you want a read: http://www.javelintrackdays.co.uk/trackday/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=265&Itemid=907

  8. I think they missed an opportunity to update the bodywork which now looks too - how shall I say - 'Kit car' quality. At this price it needs more detail and aero design. I'd rather it look more like a current LMP car for example Had a look around BAC Mono today and those things are stunning design in comparison.

  9. Hi Nick Javelin visit Blyton twice over the year - this time we were using the Eastern circuit. Start was from the usual pit-lane exit, and I have attempted to show roughly where the finish was below (blue line): Again, the difference in layouts probably means that comparing times with the WSS is pretty hit-and-miss

  12. Silly enough to get up and look, yes. Silly enough to go on the boardroom at that time? No!

  13. Paul (VX220), Steve and Ian/Pat left us at this point. We carried on for the last leg of our journey to The Cooper Arms at Weston-on-Trent. We arrived bang on time at 5pm. What a setting this pub is in, wow. We could hear the bikes racing at Donnington and it has a lake with tables overlooking it. It was time for some track talk and what a laugh we had, the stories were hilarious. We sat there relaxing as the sun started dropping down, the lengthening shadows signalling that we ought to set off home. Martyn/Sue and Andy/Becky went one way and Trevor put us on the right road for our drive home back through the Peak District. After Ashbourne we went through Matlock Bath for a look at the illuminations. Nature provided it's own light show as well, did you see the supermoon tonight? Glen set my headlights up to actually shine on the road, and not one to miss a photo opportunity.... Super moon, well it has been a super day.A big, BIG, thank you to Trevor for a very well thought out and organised day that ran like clockwork. Credit to the man, he even got the weather right!

  14. We arrived at Claymills Pumping Station and parked up at the modern sewage works, as per the signs. A man approached us and asked if we would like to park next to the Victorian pumping station. Without delay we obeyed and it turned out that he had come in his pre-lit Westfield. He proceeded to give us our own personal tour of the pumping station, top man, he made us very, very welcome. Our cars next to the victorian version. John's pre-lit Westfield During the tour we found some oil for Steve's squeaky brakes It is all started by hand here, until the steam takes over. Note the old copper expansion joint and the modern stainless ones at the top of the picture. The mahogany has all been replaced with new. Julie's favorite bit, the boiler. A very interesting place with lots more than I can tell you on here, so I recommend you go on a steaming day. Well done to Trevor for taking us there.

  15. I was very impressed. Sausage and bacon bap and a brew warmed me up when I arrived. Both the showrooms and the workshops were facinating. Will definitely go along again in November.

  16. Don't rush to do anything yet. I am still working on getting further clarification as to what Championships can and can't do. Further speculation right now is pointless as soon as I have something I will let you know.
