  1. A hidden value to the club membership is that you get to knock around with people who have some good ideas. I had never heard of the Ponderosa Cafe or the EVO triangle but it kept popping up, both on the forum and in conversation. I am a nosy parker and it niggled me a bit that we might be missing something so today on our way to our holiday in Betws-Y-Coed we diverted and went to Ponderosa for lunch. Next up was the EVO triangle, we were doing well until we saw a sign for Lake Brenig Visitor Centre. 'Oooh there might be a cafe...with cake!!' There was and we did. So we must hold the record for taking the longest time to complete the triangle in a Westfield. Oh, and WOW, what views on the way round, the whole Snowdon mountain range, thank you members for the information. The Ponderosa Cafe at 1400ft, in the middle of the photo The Lake Brenig Visitor Centre cafe, also with cracking views...and cake

  4. Robin Hoods (the kits) have progressed a lot in the last few years, prior to that, the kits were very very basic, though priced accordingly, and required lots of work from the builder. Building a really great one took a lot of effort and skill, simply getting on the road in some fashion took some hard work and dedication. That said, the ability to get on the road for such small sums, with some effort, brought a lot of people into the hobby that might not otherwise have got into it.

  10. Oh dear, gone and made myself feel quite sad in a nostalgic sort of way, that there'll be no more UU, the Watch has pulled its last shift and Granny Weatherwax is off "a borrowin'"

  11. Ook I always liked the way the dynamic between Ridcully and the Bursar was written; made you wonder if perhaps the Bursar had a few more lucid moments than perhaps he let on...

  14. Speaking as a chap with a 1.6 CVH and twin Weber 40s, you will almost certainly not get an extra 40 bhp. Mine's out of an XR2 and produces about 130 bhp, and although I'd love more (who wouldn't? - it's almost never enough), that would take an engine swap. What will the twin Webers give you? More power, a great noise, a lighter wallet, higher fuel consumption, and a lot of fun. Steve from Canada has done a bike carb conversion that's quite tasty too. Oh yes, we can definitely help you perform a cashendectomy on your wallet for you, no problems.

  16. ST220's are a really nice drive, and their only real downside being 30mpg at best. But if that's not an issue, then it's a no brainer. They're getting dirt cheap too, two mates at work just sold theirs, one almost mint saloon for £2200, the other one needed a few bits doing like wheel refurb etc but still tidy enough, estate, £1500. Get on it!

  18. Hi, I am also new to club with a cvh. Never really a great fan of the cvh until I tried one. Pulls great and not too thirsty. Happy motoring.
