Here's my T1 run - including my stupid mistake on the last corner would have easily been a 57sec run http://youtu.be/xrD8FATM7N8 Camera didn't run for the T2 which was a slight improvement at 59.13 sec and even though a PB felt I could have done better if I had managed to string it all together more tidy.2 points

Windy may be able to rebuild your existing rack with a new pinion and rack. I used a Rallydesign rack with no problems. If you are bolting the Tilton seat to the floor give either Gluty or me a call for some tips. Keith1 point

2.4 which is fast enough for me! When it comes to correcting a slide I have a feeling a too fast a rack can induce over correction but that is only in my experience others may have other views! Glutey1 point

Barney For what it is worth I have the Rally Design quick rack on Cortina Up-rights and it has seemed to work OK for a few years now! Glutey!1 point

Sounds like you have lock stops fitted to limit the stroke of the rack. 1.9 to 1 is the lowest I've ever heard off and that was one of the very rare and expensive adapted Titan racks1 point

For those of you at Loton that said you might enter this still. Just to flag that the closing date for entries is 19/20th Sept. Apply on line via the Longton website.1 point

Spent an enjoyable, and very informative, morning at BLiNK Motorsports in Cheshire today having a geometry check and setup on my car. To be honest it felt good beforehand but I'd always promised myself the "peace of mind" to know that it was optimally setup for me. The digital kit used ( Hunter Hawkeye Elite TD wheel aligner) has been mentioned in previous threads and I was flabergasted at the precision of the measurements and how accurately the system could detect even the slightest setting adjustment. The only problem we encountered was the ride height, which Fraser thought was a shade too high. However noting the wear to the chassis loop inder the gearbox, where (I assume) its been grounded previously, the front was left alone at 157mm. The rear was lowered slightly to 180mm. The rear offside wheel was also slightly out on one parameter but after a few cycles of "measure, wheel off, jack, adjust, lower, wheel on, measure" it was brought within tolerance. Many thanks to the BLiNK team for their work and friendly attitude. I'd have no hesitation in recommending them to other WSCC members.1 point

I had the same done and really pleased with their attention to detail and their friendly approach. Fraser also makes a good coffee.1 point

Barny I do have a new quick rack. I can't recall if 2.2 or 2.4 I'm not looking to sell but you are welcome to borrow and test in your car to see if it gives what you want before ordering.1 point

The most impressive drive I have ever seen in a Westfield. A few of us saw you enter Triangle and were convinced you were going off. I think that tyre warming might have matched Marto too ;-)1 point

One of my fastest runs. This is P1 on Sunday as my logger ran of memory and failed to get my fastest P2 run of 52.34 or of course Mike's big off. This is a 52.60. Still pushing on a bit. http://youtu.be/T7m8kZbKPzc1 point

Its all Westfords fault! Having a background of bikes and classic cars, and having built a Crendon replica (Cobra) my long time mate who bought a semi completed kit and I believe detailed the build on here, has been trying to persuade me for over a year to get a Westfield. Having sold the Cobra meant I could consider it, but in all honesty wasn't feeling it! We attended a couple of hillclimbs at Gurston near Salisbury and talked about competing at a 'lets have some fun' level as opposed to a national level. Eventually I started looking, missed a load of cars but eventually found one locally on the forum. Its a 1800 sport, silver top, on throttle bodies, MT75 box British racing Black It had only done 1000 miles since it was built. Even on the day of collection I cant honestly say I had the overwhelming feeling of excitement I should have done, I think a big bike accident a few years ago gives a sense of vulnerability. However.........very quickly after having the car a few weeks, with some miles under my belt and making a few changes to 'make it mine' I can only describe it as having as much fun as is possible with your clothes on! Totally converted, makes me smile every time I get in it Don't know why I didn't do it years ago! So far upgraded to 13" CXR rims with R888's and fitted the RAC roll bar that was included in the sale. Plan over a period of time is to fit an ST170 engine, already obtained, a type 9 gearbox, picking up middle of September (also forum sourced!) consider a CNC head and hopefully get to around 220BHP. The motivation for the upgrades is to make some vain attempt to keep up with Westford in his very sorted Westie at Gurston otherwise he wont let me forget it I have some bits for sale already so will post those when I can, 5x15" wheels, hood frame, hood etc. Its a really great club and a great forum, looking forward to being part of the fun1 point

Martin I couldn't agree more. I showed Matt Hillam my practice video below and aghast at my understeer he jumped into action at lunchtime changing ride height and anti roll bar settings to improve things as best he could. It definitely helped although quite a bit is still there but we have a plan now to sort that too hopefully. (also have a good laugh at the dangler up as I hacked my way around museum with dazzling hand speed ) https://youtu.be/Zfg02kQsE8k David1 point

Hi Guy's I am sure the car will be re-incarnated in one form or another! I hope Duck is not too worse for wear and will recover quickly from joining the "Cedar Spin Club" Thinking of you all Glutey1 point

Looked an impressive run at an imposing course. All of us novices have an unbelievable amount of help and support from others, for which we're very very grateful But at the end of the day credit has to go to the drivers who transfer this into good run times like you have Marto.1 point

Thanks Guys I really appreciate all your comments ( praise is always very welcome ) But in reality I wouldn't be going as well as this without all the help and encouragement from you lot. One of the things I love about this speed series is the camaraderie in the paddock, without exception every expert driver I've met has freely given advice and tips on improving a run or car set up. With a little help this weekend on damper settings and tips for a fast run at Loton I've been able to find a couple of seconds that would otherwise have taken years to workout for myself, so you should really be giving yourselves a "pat on the back"1 point
