  4. I've been living in Sydney for the last 9 months now and I am seriously considering permanently emigrating, as for the kit car, I'd love to take it over, but with it being a bike engined westfield I believe it is very difficult (impossible) to reach the required emissions limits. Only yesterday I contacted the Australian DVLA equivelant to find out the emissions limits to see if I could physically meet the emissions standards with a Hayabusa engine. Possibly using a closed loop Lambda system and dual cats? It would be a big risk to take the car over there and not be able to get it to pass their IVA equivelant. It does cost a lot in Import taxes and registrations, probably at least a 50% markup on the value of the car, but a 2011 Duratec SEIC Westfield will sell for $39,000 over here. As for why anybody would want to live here Terry, have you actually been here? I am in love with the place, it has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, as well as the great barrier reef, some amazing mountain ranges, rainforests and the outback. Everything is catered towards an outdoor lifestyle. I have however went from a little village in the NE of England to Sydney City Centre so I guess I haven't had a true comparison, but I just love the fact that everything is literally a 10 minute walk away.

  10. Many thanks for posting all those pictures Buttercup, reminds me why I love Scotland so much. Will be back with the Westfield one day I hope, last trip was with caravan and family. Still remember my blast up Glencoe one evening after we took off the bags, it didn't take long to get to the top :-) The other thing I remember is stopping at a viewpoint by a loch. A tourist coach from Germany pulled up shortly afterwards, most of them spent more time looking at the Westfield than the lovely views. We have only had bottoming out issues in Ireland, when we had an underslung exhaust. You could be driving along lovely smooth road one minute to be faced with an huge dip in the road the next. Anyone travelling behind will have been treated to a huge plume of sparks. Lovely country (Ireland) but not a patch on Scotland for touring with the Westfield. Best bit of driving was cross country in Wales from Midlands to Pembroke when late for the ferry on roads I know quite well at the time.

  11. Last year I found an eBay seller that supplies high temp brush on industrial stove paint/enamel in large cans, i've used the stuff on my exhaust, it's 10x better than any of the expensive spray on paints. This was gloss black and turns matt after exposure to heat, but i'm sure you can get this stuff in other colours. I'm not convinced the hubs need temp resistant paint and I've no real interest in painting the hubs, but if I did I would use this stuff.

  16. It's many years since I drove around Scotland. It's a must for anyone in the UK, the scenery is fantastic and there are hardly any cars in many places.

  18. Hi again Geoffrey & Carol. So sorry to have missed you (apparently only by 15 mins!). Just got home and found your post about being there at around 3pm. We were looking out for you on the way back, but only saw your text message at 4:30. You must have taken a slightly different route. If we had seen you as we left, we would have turned around. Never mind, I'm sure you will be back again after this fantastic trip and we'll meet up then. Had a great day with the Jaguars - about 60 of us at Crieff and then for a run out. I envy you having had an XJS V12 - I love them! Now looking forward to a run with the Westfield before our Applecross run in 2 weeks. Just about to sit down to watch the F1 GP and then Le Mans next weekend. Enjoy the rest of your holiday. David

  19. Did the road sign begin with T and finish with T? And would probably trigger the swear filter? It's not been the best weather this week past, hopefully it'll be kinder from now on.

  20. Hi Geoffrey and Carol. It's been fascinating hearing of your exploits this week. Can't wait for the next installment! The scenery and the people here are amazing. It's what made us decide to move up here to Inverness from Lancaster 12 years ago. We're travelling through Aberfeldy this afternoon on our way back to Inverness from a Jaguar run around Crieff. It sounds like we'll just miss you, but I'll look out for you anyway. I have your number with me, so depending on our timing, I may call you you see where you are. Hope you have a safe and dry run down today. Cheers, David
