  1. Don't forget there is a set of possibly the best, heavy duty build stands going, available FOC on a first come, first served basis! These have probably launched half a dozen or so cars now, including three S2000 engined cars, (mine as well), they were made for a club member S2rrr by a heavy industrial fabrication company in the petrol chemicals field as a favour. So they're solid, strong and could probably survive a direct hit from a small thermo nuclear weapon! The thread to check out if you wish to borrow them is here. All that Bob ask's is that when you're done with them, you pass them on, again FOC, to the next Westfield builder.

Just because someone can afford what someone else can't doesn't mean they are flash, nor does it mean they are rubbing peoples nose in it.   5. Welcome Matt, great to see another new build starting! One thing I would seriously consider, is running a build thread here on the forum. I know you've got the blog - and a fantastic archive that will be for the future for you. However, the advantage of a build thread, even if you just copy and paste text in and add photos from the blog, is that you generally get a lot of traffic and feedback from all the other members on here. On more than a few occasions, that's also included members spotting a problem, or potential problem developing in the photographs, and have been able to offer advice to sort it out before it became an issue. This is where plenty of pictures score - whilst we're always here to, and happy to, answer questions; it's the times when you didn't know that there was a question to ask that come back to bite you! Best of luck with the build, and don't forget to be realistic in deadlines and goals, it's a fantastic way to learn new skills, but don't forget to enjoy yourself! If you've never done anything like it before, it's often best to break it down into a series of smaller tasks and projects. Plan ahead too; if you're mainly building at weekends for instance. Finish the actual build a little earlier on the Sunday, and spend some time planning what tasks you'll do the following weekend. Check that you have everything you'll need, whether you'll need to find out anything and also whether you might need any tool that you don't already have. (There'll often be a member or too that can help you out here, with enough notice). This gives you a chance on Monday morning to sort out anything you will need but don't have. Do bear in mind that fabricated parts and grp items will often take longer to order in, so more time should be allowed, if they arrive early, then that's a bonus. And again, don't forget to enjoy it! (Don't turn it in to "work").

  6. April 8th, 2015 Spend: £0 The day of the dreaded MOT. I say dreaded, because it is the first one in my ownership, and who knows what kind of relationship the previous owner had with his MOT guy. Thankfully it passed, with some recommendations on things that should really be sorted out when I get the chance: - Leaking gearbox (small drop, but still) - OSR axle leaking grease (needs new halfshafts/seals) - Front braided brake lines chaffing on the cycle wing stays Other than the brake lines, I may need to get help from the pro's to have it fixed. Best start to budget for it... April 11th, 2015 Spend: £8.62 Annual pilgrimage to the home of Westfield: Kingswinford. They didn't have many goodies that I was interested in (or have the money for!), but I did pick up a new bonnet logo and a nose badge. Last month: £ 1716.95 This month: £ 8.62 ----------+ Total: £ 1725.57

  7. Well, three out of four achieved so far! Albeit not necessarily as originally planned... As I kind of suspected, it turned out that the underlying wiring was pretty bodge-tastic, so it didn't take a lot of persuasion for me to throw in the towel and call in the professionals! First up, a test for the tow-car: Off to NMS! I delivered the car with no dash, wires hanging everywhere and only the ignition and starter connected. A few conversation with Troy and Steve (during which I briefly considered a replacement digital setup and a few other bits and pieces) and we settled on a fabricated bare aluminium dash with BCF's old gauges and a new set of switchgear. The final set-up I pretty much left to Steve after seeing various different options, and I certainly wasn't disappointed. After a slightly extended stay at NMS - a combination of my car needing more work than expected and NMS having a hell of a workload (victims of their own success!) I'm really happy with the new dash setup. Troy also very kindly balanced the R1 carbs for me so it runs beautifully now! And they even organised delivering the car to me as I couldn't get up there for a couple of weeks - very much appreciated. Quick run out yesterday evening after some fresh fuel: It doesn't come across all that well in photos, but the texture and finish of the bare ally dash is very, very cool... And a full house again! Next job is to give it an oil service at the weekend and then get out and enjoy it. And then think about some suspension.....

HI guys I'm looking to fit a diffuser to my MegaBusa, I had fitted an Areodynamix one over the winter break but it fell off at Goodwood a couple of weeks ago, looks like the pressure sucked it out of the U section at the front as soon as I got onto the 1st straight then it just scraped along the floor being held in place by the bonnet pins at the back, to be honest wasn't very impressed with the thing in the first place, poorly finished when it arrived and turned out to be too flimsy. So instead I'm looking at one of these http://www.sa-motorsport.co.uk/rear-diffusers.html which are made in aluminium so shouldn't flex and be sucked off the U section (Though I will add some extra retaining screws to the front this time) Anyone have any experience with one of these?

Tel's Tales 049– 2015 Season- Snetterton 16th and 17th May 2015 This venue is quite a long haul for most people but the one and threequarters laps on a wide and technical tracks run by Borough 19 is a great attraction and the trip is now better following completion of the A11 upgrade. There were 13 of us there including Matt Hillam and Paul Morcom in the J classes and it was good to see John Loudon back out with his rebuilt engine. The weather forecast was promising but as we left the bar on Friday night, after an earlier trackwalk it was worrying to see it start raining. The rain even kept me awake in trailer but it did stop at about 2am! Most of us had signed on when we arrived Friday and incredibly I had been scrutineered by 0715hrs on saturday morning. Colin Way was out in the ex Mark Stanton car which was re-bodied in purple. Saturday P1 saw most people coming back into the paddock shaking their heads as they had found that there was no grip at all on the dry track as it was cold and no rubber had been laid down. I was last to and can confirm that the reports were correct as it was an interesting and somewhat sideways drive as the oversteer kicked in everywhere. Most of us were about 10 percent off the target times and it looked like it was going to be a challenge. P2 saw a better grip level but even so John Loudon showed us how to do a 360deg spin at the fast Hamilton corner and then he stalled it as well. Steve Everall outbraked himself at the end of the start finish into Agoustini corne but just made it. John Hoyle was on a good run but caught the car in front so he just practiced sliding it, rally style, around the corners. T1 luckily produced a cleaner and drier track so it was game on. However, Gary Bunn was thwarted as his water pump pulley came off and he lost it somewhere and dropped ater on the track. Mike Skidmore threw his alternator belt and over the weekend he got through quite a few as even when we realigned his pulleys there still seemed to be a problem which cured itself by Sunday afternoon but we don't know why. A lunchtime track search found Gary's lost pulley and he and Mick Cooper set to and refixed it quickly and my rather large centre punch came in handy. That was not Gary's only problem as he began to suffer from an intermittent fuel pump problem as the runs for T2 commenced. Everyone was now pushing hard and still finding that the high speed Hamiltons and Palmer corners were not easy and a variety of lines were tried. Whilst Mike Skidmore was looking at how Steve's upper alternator bracket was attached we noticed that Steve's was split in half!. A couple of washers and that was fixed and it lasted the weekend. In class D John Hoyle beat the target time with a great run of 91.49secs (target 91.90secs) and I was doing ok with 93.56secs (target 92.94secs) in class G. Steve Everall could not better his first run of 97.58secs which was a PB and he was leading Stephen Herbert on 102.10secs and Simon Broadbridge ran well with 103.53secs as did Mike Skidmore with 106.63secs. T3 was the final run due to the British Sprint and their top 12 run offs etc.( AKA faffing around!). Stephen Herbert was pleased to improve to 100.00secs and Peter Goulding blasted round to record his best of the day wit 94.98secs and John Loudon put in his quickest run with 96.61secs despite some issues with his brakes. John Hoyle threw it off at the Hairpin and circumnavigated the bollards and the tyre wall but went four wheels off. Final times achieved Class A Simon Broadbridge 103.53secs Class C John Loudon 96.61secs Colin Way 108.13secs Class D John Hoyle 91.49secs new record/Fastest Westfield Steve Everall 97.58secs Stephen Herbert 100.00secs Mike Skidmore 106.63secs Class F Pete Goulding 94.98secs Gary Bunn 96.55secs Gerry Houghton 100.16secs Class G Terry Everall 93.56secs Class J Matt Hllam 82.68secs Paul Morcom 103.14secs Sunday Despite being the last lot to leave the bar on Saturday we were all up early and ready to enjoy the sun and tackling the track again. I had got over the embarassment of nearly falling off the fence as we accessed the track last night. The track was found to be much better for grip and P1 times were good compared to yesterday. In P2 John Hoyle recorded his best run so far with 91.80sesc and I was a second behind on 92.74secs. As Gary Bunn was at the start line his fuel pump failed to start up so I raced back to my trailer and got a screwdriver and small hammer..... Off came the boot cover and I tapped the fuel pump gently and hey presto the car fired up. Mike Skidmore spun and showed us how to execute a 180deg spin which he claimed was caused by Steve giving him some “advice” on speed and gear choice through Oggies corner. T1 saw John Hoyle go quickly but his clutch had gone so that was game over for him and robbed him of another record time. Gary's car kept running as Mick Cooper threatened it with a hammer again. T2 saw me, gary and Mike Skidmore record our quickest runs whilst John Loudon spun at the start/finish hairpin. T3 was good for the two Steve's with Steve Herbert at last getting under the 100secs again after his T2 run so he was very pleased with his first visit to Snetterton and Steve did a PB. Pete Goulding whacked in his best time as he chased points and this year his halfshafts survived. So we had a great weekend and the results were as follows: Class A Simon Broadbridge 103.25 Class C John Loudon 95.85 Colin Way 107.86 Class D John Hoyle 92.43 Steve Everall 97.17 Stephen Herbert 98.78 Mike Skidmore 104.32 Class F Pete Goulding 93.77 Gerry Houghton 99.91 Gary Bunn 96.09 Class G Terry Everall 92.17 (new record) Fastest Westfield Class J Matt Hillam 84.11 Paul Morcom 102.38 Terry Everall Speed Series Correspondent Class G competitor

  14. Sacre Bleu, their amazing hospitality is now stretching to personal breakfast orders. Extract from latest email from St Goueno organisers..... Croissants and Pain au Chocolat Orders for Croissants and Pain au Chocolat will be taken in the paddock by the locals girls Hand Ball team, the girls will come to your paddock space to take order which will be delivered to the paddock bar the following morning. All the proceeds are to help finance their forthcoming trip to Sweden where they will be taking part in an international tournament. Can't see that happening in Pembrey

  15. Excellent do. Many thanks for sorting it Adam. Slightly disappointed with 10th in race after two big spins following getting up to third with a gap to forth BUT well pleased with 4th fastest lap time. Gutted for Panda who had a dodgy engine and was seen sat at side of track for several laps.

  16. Another shout out for superior customer service, I asked at Stoneliegh if I could order some extra adjustment rings to act as lock nuts, not only did they not charge me but they turned the spring seat off them to keep them tidy, so a huge thanks to the team at Protech. Nem.......
