  2. Just got back, what a FANTASTIC day! It was really great to meet you all and put faces to names, thanks for being so friendly and especially Terry and Stephen H for their help with the circuit and lines. Shame about the rain but we got four good runs in the dry in the morning, I'm sure there would have been more pace to come from everyone had the skies stayed clear but nevertheless, it was a great day of sprinting and I am definitely hooked! Roll on Gurston (dry please mr weatherman )

  5. Is no one interested in doing any of the car shows like Glamis Castle or Scone as a club. There are several big rallies in Scotland which are a great day out. Free or very little outlay to enter a club stand at the show and gives you a full day of looking around other people's toys and speaking to like minded people who would be very interested in our cars. These days would also obviously include the run to and from the shows and would involve members from all over our region instead of folk in the North being to far from the South or vice versa. Would be good to have, not only a reason to drive our cars but have somewhere to go and something to look at when we are there. Loads of other car clubs manage and have a good time all round

  6. First time out on a trackday after the new build (did the Rockingham sprint but not had a proper thrash yet!). Great to have company from Keith and Graham on the day and to meet Nigel too. Very quiet, not many cars there so lots of available track time and the weather was simply stunning. Unfortunately I was finding the car running very hot and coupled with a leak from the rear crank oil seal and the o/s rear axle half shaft seal, my 'on track' time was limited to a few laps. That meant just as i was getting into it, having to come off to allow the car cooling time. Got to play with the new Gopro though, purchased via AdamR on here (thanks for the support Adam!) - here's a vid from one of the sessions: I now can't wait for the WSCC sprint in July!

  12. We spectated at Three Sisters today and it was b****y freezing and a tad moist in the afternoon, but still a good day. We took my niece who said Terry's car was SICK, which I believe translates as quite nice!

  13. The challenge is not the people, the organiser or the one make car club format but the Scottish weather. If you want to maintain the numbers going on a particular run there is an obvious need for a more flexible arrangement for organising them should the weather take a turn for the worse. In the case of Doune it is a fixed date in the calendar but many of the runs are not.

  16. Sorry to hear of the loss. Having seen it many times when people come to me with a sorry tale, I can feel your pain. As already noted, if it isn't in two places at least, and geographically separate then it ain't a backup. You also need a restore policy to go with your backup policy, namely, a method to test the backups have actually, really genuinely worked. I would also say don't rely on cloud services for anything. Check the fine print. My company was considering cloud based services then when you look into it properly, you find that you have no recourse if they decide to go bump. No point in sitting arguing with lawyers when your data is gone and your business is dead. Probably not news you want to hear, but stop trying to recover the data yourself, you run a real risk of making it worse, particularly with Win7 as it may suddenly decide to try and fix your disc for you. It won't. If the data really is important, you are going to have to suck it up and send it to the experts I'm afraid. A general observation, most people only make this mistake once, as it's usually painful enough to make the lesson stick. That said, I have had one guy who didn't learn. Lost all his family photos because his missus said he wasn't allowed to spend £50 on another one of those silly drive things after I'd recovered his last failure... Any single location storage is at risk of fire, theft or flood, so to say, as well as general marketing BS that implies a product is something it isn't. Net gear NAS boxes being a prime example. A decent company should see you right and with luck, you won't lose too much at all. You will have a bit of a nightmare putting all the data back in order when you get it back, but it'll be a good trip down memory lane by the sound of it so not all bad. Again, sincere sympathies with this. I'm not trying to preach here, the industry tries to sell this image of utterly reliable fault free tech. Total BS. Best of luck.

  18. The open day was not as busy as before but I was there from 9 AM until 3PM and the time flew! Good to see simon again but finally got to meet Ian (Ian k) and Andy (Sycho) Really great to finally put faces to names and I hope to see you both at Stoneleigh. It should be the year of the S2000. Quite excited about hat Omex have planned with the throttle boddies and if anyone is interested then they will have to get in the queue behind me.

  19. My thanks to all at WSC for putting on another fine open day, and to Julian for hosting the Q & A session in the boardroom which I think was productive and educational for both club and factory - Dave Eastwood will get into more detail on this in the appropriate thread in the Members Only section in due course. Not as big a turnout as last autumn's but still respectable - and those who didn't make it missed a few freebies and a sneak preview at Omex's tasty prototype throttle bodies - plus a great buffet, no one went home hungry. Thanks to all the members who made the effort - hope you enjoyed the day!
